  • "Level Small Plates is our destination for special occasions, this visit being for my wife's birthday. The food is excellent and the serving portions are great when you want to taste a little something of everything. The atmosphere and serving sizes encourage an extremely social outing. Everything about this place is great - minor hiccup in service on this visit when 1 of the meals did not come as ordered and the server asked us if we wanted to order another one (intending us to pay again for a dish that was prepared incorrectly) - Not too happy about that. The acoustics are very loud so you'll want to be seated on the 1st floor or visit when the weather is nice so the front wall & windows are open."

  • "Every time we visit Annapolis we dine at this unique restaurant. This time, we brought along three of our friends, and they were VERY impressed! The food was absolutely delicious. Their scallops were exceptional, along with the pork flatbread, Brussels sprouts, bruschetta, mushroom dish and others. When we asked if the chef was available so we could compliment him on the scallops, he promptly came to our table and was very appreciative of our comments. We will continue to spred the word about this gem of a restaurant!"

  • "The wild mushroom risotto failed to impress anyone; the portion was small, the rice was over-cooked and turned to mush). The BBQ tacos were a favorite, small corn tortillas with a hefty pile of pork bbq with a tangy white sauce and jalapeno slices. Excellent. Unfortunately, the tacos replaced the superb cuban spring rolls that I tried the last time I was there. Fortunately, the shrimp and grits were still on the menu and it once again proved to be among the best of the dishes we tried. Equally good was the Cheesy flatbread, a mix of four cheeses on a thin crust with herbs -- outstanding. Our waiter was the most disappointing factor - slow to get the drink order and once he put our order in, he seemed to forget we existed."

  • "I am still getting used to the "small plates" menu. So many choices! The Beet Salad and the Tuna Tartare rock! Their flatbreads are amazing and plenty for two to share. My husband LOVED the sliders and the fries. The only thing that irritated me was we had 6pm reservations on a weekday. The host seated us in the room with the bar which was very noisy so we asked that we be moved to the room away from the bar which was virtually empty. He was clearly annoyed and said "That room is booked for reservations." I said "But WE had a reservation and we are here first!" He sniffed and, with a total attitude, grabbed the menus and just said "Follow me." I didn't appreciate that. Not a good way to start our evening. Good thing the food was good."

  • "The move to local sourcing brings marvelous food to the table. Couple local source with the small plate movement, and a star is born! This lively place focuses on foods from the area with dairy products & cheeses from western, central & The Shore in Maryland, oysters from Maryland, lamb from Pennsylvania, beef from Virginia's Shenandoah Valley - you get the picture. Food choices are ingeniously grouped: from the field, from the pasture, from the water and accompanied by group plates to share (appetizers) or flatbreads. An ample selection of dessert plates tops off your meal if you choose. Wine and bar selection is superb. Rare to order a pisco sour without getting, "A what?" A welcome addition to the Annapolis dining scene!"

  • "This was my first time eating here, but had previously been for drinks. We had a variety of small plates to share, of which everything was very good. The fries could have been a little better if I were too be super picky, but that's also after having had truffle fries the previous few days. In regard to the cocktails, they were superb. We adjusted the angels and demons drink to have the smoked tequila, and it took the drink to a whole new level. Would highly recommend making that adjustment and giving level a shot if you have yet to check them out!"

  • "This is our 2nd time at Levels. We wanted to take friends to a nice place after Rams Head & picked Level remembering it fondly. Level delivered again! We reserved through OpenTable a specific table through "notes". To my delight, the table was ready right when we walked in on a busy Friday night. The waitress was excellent. Great recommendations. Good menu choices (even for some of us vegetarians). Drink choices were also fun. We drink specials as recommended & loved them. Food came out super quick. The vibe is cool w/ a diverse range our customers all seeming to enjoy. My only very small criticism would be the wine by the glass pour could have been just a little larger. Level has now delivered twice! We will be back again."

  • "It is nice to know where your food is coming from -- all the major purveyors are clearly listed and local. Small plates are great with wonderful presentations, tuna tartare was lovely, the bison and bacon sliders juicy and fabulous with the pimento cheese as icing on the burger. Nice wine list, nice energy and while service is this team style system and could use some tweaking, overall this is a spot we will happily visit again."

  • "been to the restaurant before and liked their locally sourced food that was fresh and I also like the small plate concept.. this time some of the food was below the level what would qualify fit for Foodies. The fries were soggy swimming in oil, the brussel sprout under cooked (under roasted), the flatbread was probably reheated several times and by the time we got it it was too crisp, more like dry just to mention some items. The waiter was less then attentive. i was looking forward to this re-visit and was disappointed."

  • "We've eaten at Level before. We really started going for the drinks. The Manhattan #23 and the Triqui Triqui are favorites. Food was not up to par this trip. Sent the pork ragout & gnocchi back: hot/cold spots in the dish. A tell-tale sign of microwaving it. Sent the 'seared' butcher steak back, since it was colder than the cold-spots in the pork. Did ask for it back, but didn't think they'd try to pull a 'warm it up and put it on new puree' trick on us. Which...they did. Sent it back again, as the manager admitted that it was the same dish; very insulting. Manager didn't even offer an apology or explanation; the waiter apologized. We like the place, but will approach food cautiously. When you know better, Level...you should do better."

  • "Had not been to Level for many months but found ourselves back in the area & happy to go again. As always , found the bespoke cocktails to be delicious, if a bit expensive for the small serving. Does not encourage ordering a second. Switched to wine for our food, which was fabulous. Server encouraged a few items, advising that they were part of the winter menu & soon to be gone. Everything was yummy. Look forward to a return!"

  • "We found the food to be average. Small plates selection okay. We shared about 6 different small plates. The dishes were either over seasoned or not seasoned enough. They did their best to accommodate vegan guests but the butternut squash and arugula flatbread w/o cheese (to accommodate vegan) unfortunately needed the cheese component which would have added some taste, as it was very bland. We sat by the door so the ambiance could have been better. I will not be returning with guests as I don't think it's that special a place. Decor is designed as mainly a cool bar that offers interesting drinks & also serves food. Food preparation needs to be ramped up a bit in order for it to be fit for foodies."

  • "Went here for a light meal before a concert. Tasty creative small plates were good but with a bit too high price tag to make it a regular place to go. Specialty cocktail had very little liquor and not worth the price. Noisy bar in the center of the restaurant made it hard to speak....eat upstairs if you want to talk. Seats near the entrance were very cold."

  • "After being escorted to our seats on the second level, we couldn't help but notice how much louder the music was getting. A couple of minutes after being seated, someone came by to ask if we were placed at the table or if we moved from the bar and sat down. Then, someone else stopped by to ask the same question and appologized for not giving us menus upon being seated. Thankfully, after about 10 minutes, the music volume was reduced and we could finally hear each other talking. All that being said, the food was delicious. A good mix of creative dishes gave us a satisfying meal overall."

Maybe we just got a bad waitress but it's never fun to get a mean waitress during a group dinner. Really wanted to love this place because I loved the last place that was here but I guess I'll have to search around to find another Annapolis 'gem'."

  • "I love this restaurant! I've been back several times and the food has always been sensational. Order the garlic fries - anytime, every time! I love the farm to table philosophy, the varied menu, and the plate presentation which is impeccable, making the meal beautiful as well as delicious. My only slight problem with Level is that I have been uncomfortably cold almost every time I've been there...so, dress warmly if you plan to go!"

  • "Had a great dinner at Levels. Lots of interesting treats and combinations. Only suggestion would be a little salt. The flavors were spectacular with just an added few grains. A little loud for conversation but overall a fun place with good food and appropriate serviings. I love the small plates and not walking away either stuffed or wasting food. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!"
