Diner Reviews
  • "There is no other restaurant like Le Votaire in Omaha. Its exceptional. This is a food town and this restaurant is at the top of the list for taste, service, and uniqueness."

  • "One of the best places in town. Not your average menu. Great dishes presented beautifully, and the service is wonderful."

  • "For those who enjoy good food with an unique touch. Service is good because it is more personal, unrushed, although not exceptional, but better than most places. I still find new options in the menu. This was my fourth visit and another pleasant dine out."

  • "We are new to the area & are exploring different restaurants in the area. Le Voltaire is small & was a great spot for "Date Night". We had an early reservation & were seated right away. Service was attentive & prompt. The food matched the description in the menu and was flavorful & filling."

  • "Superb as usual. We had to make it in before the menu was changed for spring/summer. The crew there did not disappoint. Our favorites - filet with blue cheese sauce and duck confit cassolet - both wonderful. Chocolate layer cake dessert special was amazing!"

  • "Terrific menu and wine list. Attentive staff. Next to a French bakery they also own. A pleasant and delicious evening. Will go again."

  • "We celebrated our daughter's birthday with her and her husband the evening of March 1 at Le Voltaire. The atmosphere is very relaxing and conducive to conversation, and the food was excellent as always! We were there a little over three hours and it seemed like half that, if not less. Our server, Elizabeth, was wonderful! She was very friendly and cordial, and very helpful concerning food and wine choices. Thank you for providing such a wonderful destination for celebrating special occasions or just enjoying a night out with good food and wine!"

  • "We always say we want to try new restaurants but always end up at the same places. A coworker recommended Le Voltaire and it was a very good choice. Great atmosphere with excellent food. It was romantic-a nice quiet dinner and a glass of good wine. You can't go wrong."

  • "It was a mid week evening and we felt like getting out. Le Voltaire is close by and had an opening. We enjoyed a moderately priced wine classic steak frites and cog a vin. Nice time with a great wait staff"

  • "Had the Pork Cheeks with whipped potatoes and carrots, in a wonderful sauce. And the best desert the Pot au Cream to die for...such rich chocolate. Nick always the best, he recommend a great wine, don't remember the name."

  • "I took my mom to dinner here for her 70th birthday . She is French so is picky about French foods. She absolutely loves Le Voltaire. We both loved our meal . The service was outstanding . Each time I have gone there , I never have any complaint . Totally feels like we are in France , minus the American language . We are also thrilled with the bakery next door . She feels like there is a little bit of home with the restaurant and now bakery ! Excited to bring our family from France to dine when they come back in town !"

  • "Had a wonderful Valentine's dinner experience. Had been wanting to try out Le V for sometime and had already enjoyed pastries from Le Petit. Everything was great. Our guide gave us plenty of information, including information about seasonal dishes and which ones might be best choices. Thank you Cedric and team."

  • "Food was excellent. Service was kind, but slow. Forgivable due to holiday...we ate ON Valentine's Day at noon. Loved the brie/chutney appetizer. Will definitely come back for a dinner with my husband."

  • "An all-round beautiful dining experience and not exorbitantly priced."

  • "It is a wonderful little bistro -- reminded us of Paris! The food was wonderful and reasonably priced. Their bakery was filled with sinful delights! Now I would like to return for dinner."

  • "Great food especially considering the modest price. Small cozy restaurant that I would highly recommend"

  • "I took a risk and went to Le Voltaire for a business dinner with my Chicago guest. We started with the cheese tray and very good duck confit on flatbread. Needless to say, the "going to Omaha and gonna have a steak" legacy just died for him. Our threesome enjoyed very delicious veal, a white fish and duck breast. Definitely are return trip will be in order."

  • "Excellent food and wonderful service! Nothing special about the ambience, but the menu had so many interesting items!"

  • "As a special way to celebrate a "sister's night", we chose this restaurant purely based on internet reviews and menu choices. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and treated as special "guests". Our waitress recommended superb choices of appetizer, entree, wine, and dessert. What a wonderful adventure for us to casually just sit back and enjoy! We will definitely return in the near future with our spouses, and are heartily recommending Le Voltaire to our friends."

  • "Menu choices are a treat, food tastes fabulous no matter what is ordered! Server made us feel special--very caring and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our dining experience! The meal was relaxed--no rush, no stress! Unbelievable Brussel sprouts--my husband would never eat them and liked these!! I loved them!! Blue cheese crumbles in salad were a taste treat! Husband always chooses the duck and bean entree in fall or winter (not always on menu, so has alternate favorite). I chose shrimp, scallop, mussels with pasta and loved the tastes! They recorked our leftover wine to enjoy later. The bistro menu choices of appetizer, entree and dessert are always a favorite--only $31--yum! Hardest part is choosing which item for each category!"

  • "Very nice, good prices, good food, good wine, outstanding service, and good ambiance. Had a very enjoyable time. Ate at the Mahogany Restaurant the night before. Le Voltaire beat them in every aspect of a restaurant dining experience. I could have been in Beaune or Colmar France. I leave for France again in two months and am worried the best French food is only 50 miles away. Why am I going thousands of miles?"

  • "When we travel to France we loved the food and atmosphere of the bistros. When I'm in Le Voltaire I feel like I'm back in France, the room, the menu the food, the wine list all do a great job of reinforcing this fantasy. Only the reasonable prices and realization that I'm only a few miles from home threaten to spoil the illusion! Always a great night. Highly recommended."

  • "Le Voltaire is our favorite restaurant. The food and service are consistently outstanding. The high quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the menu are a food lover's joy. We had the Poisson Duo special - skate and John Dory were the fish selections served with a quinoa patty, carrots and Brussels sprouts. The fish was fresh, mild and perfectly cooked. The quinoa patty was flavored with peppers, breaded, then toasted. Everything worked together perfectly. Dessert was a perfectly done chocolate bread pudding. A wonderful way to spend an evening."

  • "Our favorite restaurant in Omaha, never disappoints. Great food, service and wine……we will be back!!!"

  • "Absolutely fantastic with an amazing wine list and outstanding entrees. French onion soup was perfect versus the heavily salted version served at most Omaha restaurants. Presentation of the entrees was impressive - entrees we enjoyed (lamb shank, pork cheeks) were incredible. Will definitely go return and would strongly recommend."

  • "We had 4 perfect dishes- duck Condit, cheese tray, escargo, and foie gras. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the excellent flavors at the gem if a restaurant."

  • "I travel to Omaha for business, and La Voltaire was recommended instead of one of the many high end steak houses for a customer dinner. Now, when I travel back to Omaha, I hit this place even when I am not with clients. The food is fantastic, and the service is terrific. It's not a big place, and can get crowded. The bar is small, but nice. My comment after my first experience at La Voltaire was "this place doesn't charge enough". It may be my favorite restaurant of all atime."

  • "A real treat. it has been several years since we were last at Le Voltaire; it's a journey for those of us from Midtown, but a journey well worth it! Monkfish special with quinoa cake was great and my Choucroute de la Mer was also superb. Sancerre was a real value, as well."

  • "First time visiting and wish we would have done this a long time ago as the food was awesome and service was fantastic. We will be back !"

  • "We found Le Voltaire as we moved to Omaha and searched for good french restaurant. We have been there three times over the past 6 months, and will return. Service is fine, ambience is unique. Food is really good. We have been to other places of similar idea and food, and Le Voltaire continues to be one of our favorites. Why ? Very good food. Service is not perfect if you tend to be picky, but definitely above average, to be fair. They have enough space to accommodate guests. Good wine list - and good suggestions for pairing right there on the menu , very user friendly !"

  • "The coq au vin was delicious. The chicken fell off of the bones. My dining partner had the ratatouille omelet which was also excellent. There are many more items on the menu that we will be trying."

  • "Cannot overestimate how wonderful this restaurant is!"
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "We typically have always had good meals there. this time was the exception, we felt service wasn't very good, food came out luke warm and too salty, three of our party had the dover sole, one couldn't eat it because it was way too salty and the other two of us ate it but it was too salty and not very hot. The other person's food was okay but not warm enough. Basically I think it sat too long waiting for the waitress to pick up. Also the dover was too over cooked on the two entries that were eaten."

  • "I have to say this was quite the surprise find and it turned out great. We saw it open table and thought we'd give it a chance and everything was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice evening at a quite restaurant."

  • "We took friends that hadn't been to LeVoltaire for 15 years and they were amazed at the service, food, ambiance, everything was outstanding! Our server, Nick, gave us the most outstanding service we have ever received at any restaurant, not just in Omaha, but better than anywhere we've traveled to and we travel quite a bit. How lucky we are to have LeVoltaire in Omaha! It's a hidden gem tucked away in the shopping plaza but as busy as they are it probably won't be hidden for long."

  • "Le Voltaire is really a little corner of France in Omaha. And now the owners own the French Bakery next door; another reason to visit!"
