Diner Reviews
  • "Service and food was excellent. Small restaurant. Got a little noisy when it filled up but tolerable. Have always loved Radek's restaurants"

  • "I had lunch with a guest. The food was excellent! We both had a different salads and were fantastic. Entrees were as well. Interestingly, few French wines by the glass, and I didn't want a bottle, but what we had was good. Another large party was there at the same time and that made it noisier and service somewhat slower. I would definitely go back for dinner or another lunch."

  • "I have gone to this restaurant many times over the course of its time in Boulder. The food is consistently delicious. However, I stopped going to this restaurant about seven years ago because of extremely bad service. I was entertaining clients and was embarrassed by the poor service. I tried again a few years later for lunch; same experience. Monday night, I was again treating a client to dinner. We had a reservation for 7:00 PM. The waiter did not take our wine order until 7:35 and I had to complain to get him to come over at that time. This restaurant consistently has given me the message that they do not need or want my business. It is a shame because I love the food there."

  • "We picked this place off of Open Table not really knowing about the restaurant. The food was excellent, and the style of dining was reminisce of European dining. The wine list was excellent. We ended up taking our 4 mo old secondary to no baby sitter. When he cried we took him to the back but the restaurant was understanding of having an infant. The dining area is small, and I would definitely recommend reservations We will definitely return for our next special occasion."

  • "The Food was top quality. I gave the service 4 star because it was a bit slower than many would expect, but it gave plenty of time to converse uninterrupted - more in the French style where slow service is good service."

  • "Great restaurant in all respects. It is well worth the drive from Denver"

  • "This is easily the best food I've had in boulder, and possibly anywhere."

  • "I went with a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday. As usual L'Atelier did not disappoint in any way. Service was outstanding (Ben was our main waiter), food was exceptional, wine suggestions by Ben were spot on, we could talk and be heard easily, and there isn't one negative thing to say about this restaurant. It wasn't my first time eating there.....more like my 10th or 11th over the years. It certainly won't be my last time there. Always good!"

  • "L'Atelier never disappoints! The food is always outstanding and the service is the best. We prefer a booth when we dine there, and our request was filled. The booth is more private and quiet and adds an extra bit of "special" to our experience."

  • "It's the peace and quiet that's most important to us and makes us choose it over the many other restaurants with great food. Most of the time we just can't face the noise levels of Other fine Boulder Restaurants."

  • "After looking at the menus of several highly rated Boulder restaurants, we decided on L'Atelier. We have always enjoyed the food here and last Saturday was no exception. Excellent sauces and high quality foods. Highly recommended."

  • "One of the very best dining experiences in Colorado."

  • "Best in Boulder. We love this place. I had the sweetbreads and lamb. My wife had the ruby trout. We shared a cherry griotte. Excellent wine pairings. Server was attentive but not intrusive. No "Hi I'm George and I will be your server." Very professional and correct."

  • "It seems L'Atelier does not get the attention that other Boulder restaurants receive. Not sure why? Fabulous dinner! If I am going to spend serious $$$ to eat out then I need it to be better than I can make myself. Many Boulder farm to table restaurants serve the same things in the same way that I do at home so I am not usually impressed. How much kale can one elevate?? At L'Atelier I was impressed and so was the rest of my party. Nice bar, but decor could use a lift. Little french tchotchke are whimsicle but oddly displayed. The fish lights have seen their day, perhaps time for them to have a new location and some more sexy chandeliers could replace them. Love that it is carpeted as that absorbs sounds nicely. Call me to redecorate!"

  • "While they do not have any "permanent" vegetarian entrees on their menu, the chef was more than willing to provide my husband with their chef's choice "gourmand" option which he loved."

  • "Came from Denver to avoid the restaurant week crowds, was pleasantly surprised with L'Atelier. Although the decor is a bit strange the food and wine made up for it. We really enjoyed our apps-foie and salmon as well as our entrees even though the sides on both our steaks were the same and the sauces a bit rich the flavor and quality of the meat was apparent. Also the desserts were beautiful and delicious."

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder. The service wasn't quite as good as usual during the Valentine's Day crush, and the menu that night was prix fixe, but dinner at L'Atallier is always a lovely experience."

  • "This is the best restaurant in Boulder. It never lets us down!"

  • "This restaurant is great! It's always consistent; I can always count on a great meal here. They are always busy, so make sure to reserve in advance, especially for special occasions/holidays."

  • "Food was great. Great attention to detail. Well seasoned. More complex than I can make at home. I consider myself a great cook and only like to eat out if the food is as good or better than what I can make at home or something so unique or complex that I wouldn't make it at home. Their tuna tartare , warm fois gras and pork chop w polenta (bc of the delicious sauce) ft the bill. My husbands dorado was nothing to rave about. I will return to try to lobster meunière. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and attentive."

  • "My daughter, visiting from out of town, and I went on a Saturday evening. Although all the tables were filled, we were able to have an engaged conversation without straining to hear each other. Our food selections were memorably excellent, including lobster ravioli and salad, and lobster, accompanied with risotto and wilted spinach. The sorbet selection and presentation was especially pleasing. Excellent service."

  • "I've been there 3 times and this is now, officially, my favorite restaurant in Boulder. I'm just afraid it is going to get too busy as everyone discovers it! There is no better option for excellent food, service, ambiance in Boulder, at any price. I'm so glad I discovered it."

  • "Probably the best restaurant for the money anywhere in Colorado, if not most of the USA. I would highly recommend it."

  • "The food was spectacular. Service was unusually slow. I sat for 15 minutes before someone took my drink order. Then we had to flag down the waitress to order an appetizer. Unusual for this restaurant, so we will go again."

  • "As always the food was excellent as was the service. If it was only easier to find a parking spot:). But well worth the 2 block walk."

  • "Our waiter attempted to push some overstock from a bad year on us. Then, after a half an hour, most of which he spent on the restaurant floor serving others, he attested he couldn't locate the bottle we ordered, from a better year, and tried to open the bottle from the inferior year -- without asking us!. Then, we ordered a replacement bottle and instead of bringing that, forty minutes after we ordered it, he brought a different bottle that cost twice as much, and was about to open it without our consent again. And without any explanation about why he made the substitution. As a result, we went nearly two courses without wine. It took 45 mins to get the check, and because the check wasn't itemized, we couldn't tell if it was correct."

  • "Had dined at L'Atelier several times before and looked forward to our return visit but came away disappointed by the experience since our expectation level was high. The Dorado was described as a delicate tasting white fish but what was served was dry and tasteless. It was a Sunday evening and the chef's day off. Perhaps Boulder residents knew this and stayed away as there were few diners when we arrived at 7:30 and none arrived while we were there. We will not likely return."

  • "Do not visit Boulder without making a reservation at this fabulous restaurant. When you travel from out if town you are never quite sure if you have chosen a find or a flop! This for us was a "FIND" and one that we would go to time after time if it wasn't a ten hour drive. Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was exquisite. I do not know that I will ever be happy eating Christmas Day dinner anywhere else! Visit this wonderful soon - you will come away happy!"

  • "From being greeted at the door by the chef to the dinner itself, everything was very, very good. The appetizers and salads were served promptly and were tasty. The entrees of scallops, bouillibase, and my redfish were perfect. The waiters were attentive but not over attentive. We shared a dessert and it was a great way to finish a great meal. I feel that this is the best restaurant in Boulder!"

  • "The food was very good and portions not tiny (something that can happen at places like this). I really liked the chicken. Many upscale restaurants don't put much effort into chicken, but they did. Service was good, quick and unobtrusive. and for Boulder, that was very unexpected. They happily substituted for brussel sprouts. They did have a lot of shellfish and similar foods for appetizers and not much else but it is a French restaurant."

  • "Did not disappoint. Tremendous service and the food was uniquely prepared with strong tastes. Highly recommend but would also suggest getting a booth as the main dining room is tight and a bit loud."

  • "Great lunch would go back again. We had the warm beet salad, lobster ravioli which was to die for and the salmon which was cooked perfectly."

  • "Food was excellent. A very nice place for lunch. Our service was not as attentive as I thought it should have been given there were only a few tables with diners."

  • "The food was delicious, as on previous visits, attractively presented and with great flavour and attention to detail. The service was unobtrusive yet attentive and prompt. All the meals that we saw being served looked very enticing and tempting."

  • "First time at L'Atelier. Appetizers and salad course was great. My entrée (Ahi) was just ok. Tried some other entrees in our group and they were good. Overall a good experience and would go again!"
