Diner Reviews
  • "We had dinner last week and the food was excellent. Cooked to perfection and the food temperature was perfect, which is important to my wife and I. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys seafood with a great view of the harbor."

  • "Dining atmosphere was comfortable & relaxed, not pushy. Lobster tail entree was delicious. It and the risotto were prepared perfectly. Definitely a repeat. Swordfish was tasty and well prepared. Service was superb. Very satisfactory way to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Many other menu choices will guarantee a repeat visit. "

  • "The picturesque setting is fantastic and a wonderful place for watching the sunset. The cocktails, while sounding exciting, we're flat, flavorless and weak. The food was mediocre at best. The discription of the grouper I had sounded enticing. The fish was overcooked and rubbery. The sauce left a lot to be desired. If you want a nice setting to watch the sunset, go there and just have a beer. Then go to The Perfect Caper for a terrific meal! "

  • "We had company here and wanted to sit outside, and they said they didn't think they had any outside tables, when they went to seat us, we saw open tables outside and they said 'well we have reservations'. We had a reservation, but being we had a small child with us and didn't want to argue the point, we sat. The tables we saw open were never filled in the hour and a half we were there, and there were a few of them! Not a very good advertisement for the out of town guests."

  • "We enjoyed our lunch. However, we felt a little pressure from the waitress to pay our bill and leave. Was not particularly busy with other open tables. Otherwise, we enjoyed it with a wonderful seat outside on the water."

  • "The location and view were excellent. the service was good, not great but passable. However, the food was way below my expectations. One would think that Florida Gulf coast restaurant would excel in the quality and preparation of sea food but I was bitterly disappointed to find that my meal of broiled shrimp, scallop and unknown fillet had no flavor, the portion was small and quality poor basically could have been prepared by an 8 year old using frozen fish."

  • "We had our usual table and our usual order. New waitress, though, who just did not exhibit the friendliness typical of this dependable local landmark. Surprisingly, some of the sushi was just o.k. However, the ever dependable scallop handroll was great. We set very high standards for this best in the area sashimi and sushi bar and it always comes through with not to be beat quality."

  • "Wife's birthday and it was a great dining experience. Food was great, service was excellent and the evening was perfect to sit out on the deck. One of our favorite places."

  • "Laishley Crab House is our favorite restaurant. The food is plentiful, delicious and a great presentation."

  • "We've been to this restaurant 3 times since moving to the area 3 months ago. The seafood is always fresh, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We've never been disappointed. The restaurant has a great view of the Peace River. The only drawback is the lack of parking during "snowbird season" when this restaurant is extremely busy. Reservations are recommended during the high season."

  • "I recommend this restaurant for anyone wishing to enjoy a great seafood experience! I believe a little preplanning goes a long way at the "Crab House" so be sure to call ahead to book your table. If you wish to experience the full effect of this dining experience be sure to book a table for one of the outside seating areas along the outer deck! The view over Charlotte Harbor at sunset is sublime and a true "bucket list" event for dining in and around the Punta Gorda area!"

  • "Service was extremely poor. No one even offered us a glass of water for over 20 minutes. After complaining to the manager we a waitress arrived who acted like she was doing us a favor by taking our order. We got our drinks, bread appetizer and entrees within 5 minutes leaving us with no time to enjoy each course. My wife was missing a sauce on her entree but we never saw our waitress. I finally asked another waitress to get it for us and she promptly did. When we were nearly finished eating our waitress came back and said "How is everything, I see you got the sauce for your dinner". In all my 40 plus years of traveling I have had service this poor only once. I would never go back."

  • "Great seating on the outdoor balcony. Service was bubbly but less than accurate and timely. Food could use more care in its preparation. We found portions of the the food to lack flavor."

  • "We booked a table for 2 mature couples and when we arrived the only way to describe the young ladies who were seating people was unnerved. There was no organization and no visible direction on how to approach the desk. When I told them my name and that I had reserved on Open Table, it didn't seem to make a difference. I was told to stand aside and they would get to me. A few minutes later another young woman, but one who seemed more confident took over so I approached her and she asked if I would like inside or outside. She quickly got us seated at an outside table and we were good to go. Our waitress was efficient but not overly friendly. The food ranged from very good to mediocre in our group. The view was to die for."

  • "We have lunched twice at Laishley's Crab House. The first time was very poor in quality and value (the $6 cup of soup was awful and the coconut shrimp were tough - stale or overcooked; It was raining so Laishley's beautiful setting couldn't make a rescue) The second time was better. The day was bright and sunny, and the view spectacular. The $10 bowl of clam chowder was not great, but quite OK. The salads were good. The coffee was nicely presented but luke-warm. Service was mediocre. all-in-all the food provided an OK lunch with service not in keeping with the expensive bill and the strutting airs of the front desk, but the view was great."

  • "Being a recent widow, I am adjusting to going out to dinner with women friends. I am finding that we are being seated in the furthest corner or next to the kitchen. In other words the least attractive table. I also notice that being served promptly is a challenge. This happened to me at Laishley. Once I asked for service, I got it but restaurants make the mistake of assuming that women will not order and will not tip. In this day and age that is not true. Hostesses need to be very careful of this since word of mouth travels faster among women than men. And bad word of mouth costs alot more than advertising."

  • "I had out of state company that wanted to have dinner out and they requested seafood and view. Laishely has both. I have been to this establishment on many occasions and have always had good food and great service. If you choose to eat outside on the deck, the views of the Peace River are beautiful, and sunsets breathtaking."

  • "Great menu options for gluten free and calorie conscience individuals; they also offer a good mix for seafood and non-seafood lovers alike. Great outdoor dining experience. We loved the outdoor bar to grab an after dinner cocktail overlooking the harbor. Would definitely recommend this dining option in the Punta Gorda area."

  • "Made a reservation a day in advance for a luncheon with a group of seven neighbors from our Northern neighborhood in Minnesota. Realized the morning of the luncheon that I had not asked for seating outside. Called and spoke with the hostess, Heather, who said, "No problem," and found the perfect table outside. All of the group enjoyed the view and the meal. Katy was our server who did a great job keeping up with the various wants and needs of the seven without being intrusive. We stayed to visit after the luncheon and felt no pressure to move on as there were several empty tables in our area. I would certainly choose Laishley Crab House for the next group event. Thank you very much."

  • "There were nine ladies and everyone was very satisfied with their selection. The waitress gave each lady their own check which was very helpful. She also was very prompt serving us our orders. I recommend Laishleys highly. The food was excellent. It is nice to sit either inside or outside. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "Good spot to meet friends and enjoy a drink and a meal. Nice, seafood oriented menu. Good, not fancy food. Very loud on days the shutters are down due to weather. Nice view of habbor on porch."

  • "We had a party of 5 and they all liked the restaurant and the food. We had never been to the restaurant before so I didn't specify a seating preference and was a little disappointed where we were seated(right by the entrance). Overall the restaurant was very impressive."

  • "While Laisley's Crab House has the potential to be a very good restaurant, it seems to serve plebian, mediocre food. We had the crab Louis salad...a mayonaised and onioned scoop of blue crab on top of iceberg lettuce with a few other items. Because blue crab is so delicate, mixing it with onions and mayonnaise serves to cloud its taste. The dressing was "Russian" and tasted out of a bottle. Another of us had the daily special - BLT chicken salad. Not too difficult to make since it was fried chicken fingers cut up and thrown on - again - iceberg lettuce with bacon and tomato. Our server Steve was attentive. Parking was easy."

  • "This was our first visit to the Crab House and we were very pleased. We liked the rustic look and the booths which helped keep the noise level down. The service was wonderful. We were having a little meeting and she was attentive yet left us to our talking. When it came time for dinner my husband and I had the red snapper special which was generous and delicious. Our friend had the blue crab crab cakes which he enjoyed. We use Punta Gorda is a half way meeting spot between Naples and Sarasota and we will definitely make The Crab House our meeting restaurant. We were very pleased with our experience dining there."

  • "We tried your restaurant last week for lunch and used it as a meeting place that was half way for both couples. It was a great find and hope to visit many times in the future. Food, Service and views made for a perfect place. I am planning a lunch there next week after a trip to the airport. May bring along a few more friends. I know they will be as pleased by my find as I was..."

  • "We were satisfied with evrything with the exception of the food not being hot when brought to the table. Speaking of table there was not enough room for eight people. I would eat at the Laishley Crabshack again but not on a regular basis."

  • "I was very disappointed in my meal . I had the seafood combo. Fish tasted awful and scallops were cold! I have gone to Laishley's on several occasion over several years and never had any complaints but I was disappointed this time. However the rest if the table in our party if six were pleased with their meals. Whenever dining there we have always had great service this time the service was slow, waitress never checked on us. She was not friendly and when I told her about my food she did not even apologize!! She offered another meal but by that time everyone else was done snd ready to leave. She did remove it from the bill."
