The Broadmoor is a special place in my own backyard. La Taverne is where my husband and I like to get to on special occasions, and a place we know we can take the family for a special treat. The food and service is always outstanding, and the time spent strolling around the lake provides an extra bonus. Colorado Springs is fortunate to have this hotel and all it offers as something we can call our own.

My husband grew up in Colorado Springs. Each time we return for a visit, we have to go to The Tavern, as we call it, for a good meal and old times sake. It is always fun, the food is excellent, and the service so very personal. He loves the roast beef, which is very hard to find in most restaurants. It was magnificent in his opinion. My trout was also exceptional.. There's no place like the Broadmoor!

We dined here during their "Dine at Dusk" early-bird special. Between 5 and 6 pm La Taverne has a 3 course meal for $30/person. It's a great deal seeing as the entrees themselves are approaching $30 at the cheapest. The service was friendly, the food was perfect, and the drinks were top-notch.

When one enters the restaurant, it can be a bit off-putting. It seems dark and dreary and dated. As one moves through, one enters another schizophrenic and icky area, before finally entering the atrium with a cool chandelier and light and airy space (the previous two are really dark and dreary). The ambience is just weird, and they need to decide what they are going to be in order to provide a pleasant experience for diners (I vote for the light and airy). On the plus side: outstanding wiener schnitzel and cold potato salad - could've been made in Vienna. A wait staff that really tried to please. A perfect champagne cocktail. Just a really weird atmosphere that was so out of sync with a fabulous, gracious hotel! I don't know....

We were there to celebrate our 40th anniversary and found ourselves seated next to a stage and dance floor. Had hoped to be more intimate/quiet. The steaks were wonderful, the whole meal was very good and I would return to do it again. Would recommend the filet to anyone and my wife loved her prime rib. Watching the elderly couples dance, once the live entertainment began, was fun. We went to dine romantically, not dance. Otherwise the evening would have been more enjoyable. Thank you for asking for our input.

Lunch at The Garden Room at La Taverne is a great way to enjoy the Broadmoor! It is very affordable & the menu is brief but fantastic. So many great choices. It's a wonderful little place for a special lunch, plus you can walk around and enjoy the scenery at this great hotel! The staff is always professional and still very personable.

We were spending an evening out, just a date with my wife. Having eaten at La Taverne before, we knew the food would be good. Our server, Kris, and her manager, Caleb, knew my wife's wine preference and had a glass already on the way she we were seated. Dinner was fabulous. The best shrimp cocktail around. I had the scallops. They were perfectly cooked, none of that gritty taste that even most seafood restaurants have. We finished our meal with creme brûlée, which isn't even on the menu. This will definitely continue to be our go-to date night restaurant.

We had a very average experience at this restaurant. The "half-chicken" on the the price fix menu was very small. The scallops my wife ordered were under cooked. The bisque was not good. We will not return. The prices were way too high for such poor quality of food.

Very noisy in the garden area and not much fun trying to yell at my dining mates to be heard. Service was good and friendly, but the servers seemed a bit overwhelmed by the crowd. My Dover Sole was a bit rubbery--food was average. I would suggest anyone making reservations ask for the area adjacent to the garden area--seemed to be a nicer place to eat. The experience was disappointing.

It's our first time in Colorado and broadmoor hotel is one of the tourist attraction in our list. The view is incredible, great hotel. We booked our reservation at the la taverne and requested a good seat in the garden room which was given to us when we checked in. The place was great didn't really actually like the food. The trout was salty, the rib eye steak doesn't have any flavor as well as the lamb rack, not compared to high end restaurants in Beverly Hills, California, the food here is not really appealing.

The food was good especially the filet mignon. My husband said it was the best ever. We made our reservation on the Broadmoor web site and the dress code was jackets for men etc. We were certainly overdressed compared to others seated around us. Most of the people there were in 'sloppy tour dress'. If they allow that type of dress they should update their web page.

I love eating here! Not only is the food delicious, but the ambiance is very enjoyable. While I'm not a fan of the dark setting in the inner restaurant, Le Jardin makes up for people like me who love the light! I've eaten in both settings, and I've enjoyed myself thoroughly. The group I was with said the onion soup was one of the best they've ever had. The staff--as usual--is very accommodating and pleasant. 9 thumbs up for La Tavern.

We enjoyed the fixed menu they run Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 6pm. We were seated in the garden which is apparently the most popular place. It's like a ladies tea room, not the classic decor found in the other two sections of the Tavern. We moved and all was much better. Overall very good but a stretch on value even with the lower-cost fixed menu. We were shocked at how many men were wearing shorts and t-shirts (not even polo-style shirts) in the Tavern. Is there no minimum dress code anywhere anymore - not even at The Tavern?
