  • "My husband and I were in town on vacation and had been struggling to find a restaurant that had what I would consider a modern take on traditional NOLA food. This was it. Great atmosphere and even better food. We ate way too much. The Blue Crab Beignets were light and sooo delicious. I also had the Ricotta Dumplings as my main dish (even though they are an appetizer) and that was wonderful. It was interesting to have black eyes peas in the dish...I loved it. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "I eat at LPG regularly and I am never disappointed. The food is excellent, always delicious with little wonderful surprises throughout. The specials are fantastic. Desserts are well worth it--housemade ice cream is fabulous and the other desserts are well out of the ordinary. The staff is friendly and attentive but unobtrusive. If you are deeply engaged in conversation, they will wait for an opening before interrupting you. My only complaint is that the combination of hard floor and hard ceiling makes for a noisier environment than I like, especially at dinner, but it's not deafening...I think the bar area is noisier than the dining room area, so if that's a concern, ask for the dining room."

The Paneed Rabbit is my favorite, with the Turtle Bolognese a close second. Excellent wine and spirits too - so many custom cocktails and craft beers!!!"

  • "Two words: Turtle Bolognese. I watch a lot of cooking shows where they’re constantly discussing the merits of properly cooked pasta. The bucatini was sheer perfection. The wife had soft shell crab and her plate was so clean afterwards that they could have put it back on the shelf. The portion sizes are just right. You’re neither stuffed nor left feeling guilty that you didn’t finish. Our sever was very sweet and very helpful in making our selections. The dining room is quaint but classy. We couldn’t have been happier."

  • "The drinks were tasty and refreshing takes on many of the classic cocktails. The pickle jar was fantastic. I am not a huge fan of pickled veggies, but these were just perfect. Crisp, spicy, and each veg retained its own character. Bread pudding, while highly recommended was a bit tough, dry. The short rib appetizer had to be the best I have ever tasted, we should have ordered two! Special pastrami sandwich was great. And the shrimp roll was good. Desert was great as well. Highly recommend getting to this restaurant when you are in town."

  • "The blue crab beignets were phenomenal. The lamb fell right off the bone and was delicious. The rabbit was pretty good as well. But the carrot cake was awful! It didn't even have the cream cheese icing! What?!?! Yeah, no icing, and the cake itself was pretty lousy too. Also, it was super tiny, maybe cause they know it's so lousy so no one would eat a lot of it anyway. But everything else we ordered I would totally order again! Overall great service, great food, great experience."

  • "Someone in the kitchen is practicing brunoise because everything was, so finely that I couldn't pick it up with a fork.amuse bouche of pickled watermelon was good I think but the one piece was so tiny it was laughable. Carrot-ginger soup was the highlight of the meal and would be great cold as well as warm. Red grouper with peeled asparagus and vegetables brunoised was good but not great. The verbal menu is longer than the printed menu. My service was unimpressive-- first time that's happened."

The tables are well spaced, the noise level at a minimum, the bar separated from the quieter tables. Favorites among the excellent choices are the pannéed rabbit, lamb shank, crab beignets, butterscotch pudding, and even the hamburger is a winner. Service is outstanding. Price moderate to high."

Starting with our amazing server Christy, she steered us in a great direction on a bottle of wine, cheaper and better than the one we had chose to begin with. Her knowledge and friendliness guided us throughout the meal. The crap beignets were to die for, I almost feel guilty even writing about them, they were that good. The short rib appetizer, crusty on the outside, melt in your mouth on the inside with a flavor to die for. Could not decide on a main so we split the saffron fettuccine and bitter salad special. Every bite of everything was amazing. Highly recommend. It's a little bit of a cab ride so plan on 15 minutes from the quarter just in case."

  • "La Petite Grocery is excellent! The dishes are expertly prepared, creative and properly seasoned. It is interesting, New Orleans/local take on Bistro-fare, upscale but not pretentious. **Highly Recommended**. I had the Paneed Rabbit over spaetzle and wilted greens, a panko-breaded rabbit cutlet. The grenobloise sauce was exactly the right companion, a perfect blend of acid from lemon, and butter and herbs. Just a wonderful dish, a different take on rabbit and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My wife had Blue Crab Beignets, with a side of the Baked Macaroni. She loved her meal, as well. From the bar, I tried the Kentucky Saint, a bourbon/lemon/St Germain cocktail. It was just sublime, one of the best bourbon cocktails I've had."

  • "I went to La Petite Grocery with my two transplant NY friends. It cam highly recommended. We ate the pickles, beniet's, and Ricotta Dumplings for an appetizer. The aioli that was served with the beniet's was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly. The pickles were good but I have had excellent pickles from my farmers market. I would pass on those if you have good pickled veggies near you. For a main cours we had the snapper special, rabbit, and beef tenderloin. The fish was crispy, steak cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the shortbread, which was also outstanding. Well done. My only complaint is the noise level. The place was full, and it was really loud."

  • "This was our best meal in NOLA! Loved the neighborhood and the scenic drive from our hotel near the quarter to this hip neighborhood eatery. Beautiful energetic setting with outdtanding, interesting food. Loved the pickle jar with the crab beignets. The off menu beet salad was a great blend of flavors. Our fish was a nice split and the succotash like side wad the perfect compliment. Glad we did not pass on the scrumptious butterscotch pudding and carrot cake. This was the meal and vibe we have been searching for in NOLA!!!"

One item on my Nola Bucket List was to finally stop worrying about money and enjoy a proper meal at a restaurant where I'd know each dollar would be well spent. My friends and fellow cooks and chefs have all highly recommended La Petite. I took a dear friend who enjoys a good meal and we were not disappointed. We wanted to enjoy each other's company as much as the food and our server never made us feel rushed, yet she was perfectly attentive and conversational. Every item we ordered was fantastically surprising. It was so enjoyable we accidentally stayed for over two hours. All of the time, and every penny were well spent."

  • "We knew LPG would be good, but we had no idea how delicious and inventive the food would be. Our waitress was superbly knowledgable about each dish. The atmosphere was jivy and humming but not at all loud. For the last few weeks, each member of our family has taken a turn picking a restaurant (Gautreau's, Emeril's, Root, Clancy's, Mr. B's) and this is the first that received two thumbs up from each member of my family (and we have one very-picky eater). So many NO spots serve complicated dishes with too many ingredients and too little food - LPG serves wonderful and beautifully presented food without being pretentious."

  • "I had heard about the restaurant (and it's chef) on Top Chef's last season and was eager to check out his restaurant. The restaurant itself is in a cool building but the set up is weird. There's a big square in the middle blocking your view of the rest of the inside. The decor and lighting was okay too. I guess I just had higher hopes. But the biggest disappointment was the food. It was meh. I live in Chicago where I can get some of the best food in the country, and when I visit a city, I can't wait to try their food, especially someone as talented Justin. The rabbit was a small portion with the weirdest fried bits on the plate, looking like rabbit turds. Only good thing I had was the grits. Sorely disappointed."

  • "We heard about La Petite from friends and decided to make it our big night out when we gathered our adult children and their partners during a recent trip to NOLA. It was everything we had heard and hoped for. The food was great and the service impeccable. The menu offered something exotic for everyone to enjoy and share. The entire wait staff was friendly and parking across the street -- amazingly -- was free. We will have to return on our next trip back."

  • "La Petute Grocery had been hyped by friends and family, and our experience was nothing like they claimed. My chicken breast, though cooked perfectly, was bland and under seasoned (barely any pepper and salt, and only on the skin pieces), and it was accompanied with maybe 12 quarter sized pieces of potatoes and one green onion stalk. My date's burger and fries were twice the portion of my meal and half the cost. The crab beignet's were amazing and the only highlight of an otherwise lackluster meal. "

  • "Wonderful brunch. My niece gave a 3 thumbs up to the burger ( with the help of our server). Shrimp and grits had ample shrimp and broth but the grits portion was almost non-existent. Paneed rabbit, excellent. Crab beignets and short rib all good. Pork cheeks with mushrooms special was okay. We shared a chocolate tart with chicory ice cream. Excellent as well."
