A word from Kam's Wok Wine Dine
Kam's door's opened in 1988 as a neighborhood restaurant, and still remains a neighborhood gem for the loyal locals. Family owned and operated, we work to provide an atmosphere that is both relaxed and comfortable. We have our special blend of East and West and mix modern with the traditional. Just like you are at a good friend's home, 'rushed' is the last thing you will feel here.
Our kitchen is where we bring you a savory array of Pan-Asian dishes as well as familiar Chinese comfort food done right. Virtually every single item, sauce, taste on our menu is fresh and from scratch.
Centrally located in the historic Montrose District and next to the Museum District and Medical Center, our customers range from the artistic inclined to the growing family and everyone in between. We have even had the pleasure to welcome a President and a celebrity or two.
Kam's is proud to offer you great food in a place where faces are remembered and always welcomed.

Diner Reviews
  • "We have been going to Kam's for years. Suddenly it has been 'found.' It was packed with people waiting for tables. It has become noisy and, with the delay in food delivery, the kitchen does not seem to be able to keep up with the orders. We probably won't return on a Friday or Saturday. However, the facility may still be good on week nights."

  • "I've been bringing my wife and kids to Kam's for several years now. It never disappoints. The food and service are always great. In the past, wife and I have had date nights here; also, we've visited Kam's with small groups (6 people (3 couples)). It's always a fun night out at Kam's!"

  • "Just arriving and the English waiter while rubbing his nostrils refuse to sit us and handle the menus to the latino one. We fell lucky"

  • "I love this place. Their service is consistently polite and timely. They have reasonable Happy Hour prices for appetizers and drinks. Their entrees are unique and several tiers above the competition."

  • "Had been a while since I had eaten at Kam's. Food was marginal to good. Dumplings were disappointing. Service was very good."

  • "Kam's has always been a great place for chinese food. Over the years, we've neglected to go there much and we are rediscovering it. What I especially like about it is that its close, has great food, and seldom feels crowded or loud. It fits the description of a "Neighborhood Gem" to a "T.""

  • "Everything came out looking great! Great friendly service!!! Huge portions!!! But not for me, food tasted the same. My 11 yr old and I had a stomach ache immediately after. I tend to eat cleaner, and the website pics looked great and it said 'virtually everything was made from scratch'?? So we decided to stay and give it a shot. I wonder why we are getting so fat as a nation....scratch should mean ingredients that are actual food and spices, blended together that your body recognizes and can digest...not 'I mixed them together out of a bottle!' Big difference, sorry:("

  • "The food offered was not just the usual standard Chinese food; it had some exciting and new options besides what one is usually offered. Various sizzling dishes passed by us [and we ordered one] that gave a most pleasant smell. We look forward to returning and trying the other dishes on the menu!"

  • "Kam's is my favorite Chinese food restaurant by FAR! The food is always excellent and service is great. Atmosphere is very nice, prices are reasonable. I highly recommend to anyone. It's several notches above any other Chinese restaurant I've been to."

  • "We have been coming here over the last year or two since moving nearby and have really enjoyed the quiet low key atmosphere here as well as very good Chinese Food. The waiters are always very courteous and punctual. My only complaint was it took a long time to get our main food this time,(we ordered several dishes with another couple we had brought there), and the food was only barely warm not hot. We all were so famished though we did not complain. I like my food really hot and I had some of my husband's hot and sour soup and it was not even that warm. The kitchen needs to really get their food hotter since the cold weather may be making it colder . Anyway, I would definitely come back here because the food is tasty!"

  • "I have tried Kam's over the past couple of months 3 times. Initially I enjoyed it, however, the times after that have not been great. On my last visit I tried the large won-ton soup - the soup base had a nice taste, but everything else was bland."

Also, we had a piece of cheese cake for free for our dessert. :) We became to love this place and told my friends about Kam's already!"

You have so many taste buds being stimulated at once it's fantastic, The dumplings mixed into the oils and sauce's just light up your taste buds and they are amazing! The service was topnotch Ray the host was so attentive and catered to us as if we were the only customers in the restaurant. • "I order the same things every time I eat there because the food is so good. The last couple of visits I tried new items; Luc Lac and Phoenix Boat are the new items that I add to the order of Vegetable Dumplings, soft shell crab, Ginger Chicken. I do not eat all this myself, but when I take people with me I will order these items."

  • "Solid local eatery. Never impressive, but consistently good food and service. Being a vegetarian, I tried the fried eggplant dinner and it was delightful. OK, wine menu - nothing exceptional but the usual (and good) restaurant fare list of options. Recommended for small groups when you want to hear each other over the din of the room."

  • "I think Kam's is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Houston. I have been getting takeout from here for years and the food is terrific. They have recently made an attempt to bring more people into the dining room by adding a bit of a wine list. It's comfortable and enjoyable to have a quick, casual meal here. I'll be back."

  • "Kam's accommodated our group of 10 without a problem. Staff was very friendly. Everyone loved all the dishes. The seafood dishes were cooked to perfection. I like that they don't use MSG and use fresh ingredients. The next time we're in Houston, we'd definitely go back to Kams!"

  • "Really enjoy the blend of Chinese and southeast asian flavors."

  • "Pork dumplings were satisfying and the hot oil and ginger vinegar sauces were excellent. The pork filling could use more ginger,in my opinion. Vietnamese spring rolls very good. Seasoning of the Black bean chicken was too subtle; it could have used more pungent black beans, garlic and ginger. An excellent california Gewurtztraminer was on special and really helped to make prices very reasonable. Attentive service. Kitchen was responsive to my requests."

  • "My wife and I have been Kam's fans for years. We recently returned and found the food and service better than ever. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Houston. Everything is fresh and prepared with care. Kam's has some really great and unusual specialty dishes. We particularly like their softshell crab dish."
