A word from K-Paul's
In 1979, when Chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, opened their "modest", 62-seat K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen on Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, they had no idea the restaurant was soon to become a sensation, with nightly lines of eager diners waiting sometimes hours to be seated. That was back when and dining was community seating. In 1996, extensive renovations took place and now it offers seating for more than 200. Dining areas include seasonal balcony dining, an intimate climate-controlled courtyard for dining al fresco, K's Parlor private seating as well as open kitchens on both floors. K-Paul's accepts reservations and offers catering on-site or anywhere around the world.
Executive Chef Paul Miller goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality food. We have 3 kitchen and a bakery and the philosophy and commitment to excellence will never change.
Chef Paul and the entire staff cordially welcome you to join us for lunch or dinner!

  • "It's pricey but worth it. Always a great selection on the menu. Been there many times, delighted every time."

  • "very good food and service. Excellent mashed potatoes."

  • "Our "must return place" in NOLA. My own cooking experience at home was influenced by Chef Paul's TV show's, which discussed the need to "layer flavors". K-'Paul's should be on everyone's list of places to tast true NOLA flavors."

  • "One of the highlights of our New Orleans stay. Outstanding in every way. Food unbelievably good! Service excellent."

  • "It was a very special evening. The atmosphere, the service, and most importantly the food (and drinks) were all spectacular. Will definitely go back! I have been talking about the meal to all my friends, especially the avocado and crawfish salad!"

  • "We were very excited to visit this notable restaurant. Our party of 3 was very disappointed. My friend and I ordered the bronzed salmon. The sauce was so loaded with cayenne that we had tears running out of our eyes and I was choking. The mashed potatoes were starchy. Our other friend ordered the egg plant dish and it contained shrimp. The shrimp were over cooked and not fresh. We all left most of the food on our plates. While we were eating they started sweeping the floor and cleaning around us. We told the server our comments and she just shrugged her shoulders. Very disappointing."

  • "We arrived at the restaurant at 930. The food and service was great. The lights were a bit too bright and it seemed a bit like they did not mind if we finished quickly so they could close. However we would definitely go back."

  • "Wonderful combination of duck, shrimp and eggplant. Also a wonderful soft shell crab pasta. Great food experience!"

  • "I attended Tulane 30 years ago, but was never able to get into K-Paul's, as it was always packed and they didn't take reservations and I was a college student. I went back last month with my daughter and we were able to get reservations. We were seated on the second floor, overlooking the Quarter. The atmosphere was fantastic...quiet, "romantic"(if that is what you want); our server was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly and I had the best filet mignon I have ever had in my life! My daughter had the surf and turf and also loved it. The desserts were also delicious! I would highly recommend K-Paul's!!"

  • "I had eaten here several times while on business but was able to bring my wife in from out of state to dine for the first time. She has owned a very popular restaurant business in another state for over 20 year and is always very aware of the particulars of fine dining. She ordered the Blackened Drum and Blackened filet, fried green tomatoes and the regular veggies. She declared it to be the best tasting food she has ever experienced! Everything was really nice- service to atmosphere to food. We've already shared our experience with traveling friends who have now placed K-Pauls on their destination lists. Great job, guys!"

  • "My husband and I recently made our first trip to New Orleans. I usually don't like to hit all the big name restaurants, I prefer to find the gem that is more a local treasure. However, several friend s from Louisiana said K-Paul was a must. I can't agree with them more. The food was amazing. The service was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal."

  • "Food is always excellent. The very close seating and extremely loud kitchen (pan tossing etc) is somewhat over the top. The draw for us is the cuisine. However, if your looking for a welcoming staff you won't find it here. Most of the time I find the staff out of touch, making you think they are doing you a favor by feeding you. Not the personality of K Paul himself. His employees could learn a bit from him. "

  • "Really can't say anything bad about this place. We arrived early but were seated immediately. The food was wonderful. The wine choices were staggering and the cocktails were very tasty! The service was top notch but not stuffy. Never once did we feel rushed to leave. It's not an inexpensive place so if you're on a budget, keep that in mind. We will definitely return. "

  • "Service was good.food was average we were seated near the kitchen and it was somewhat noisy when trying to make reservations we had a choice of 5:30 or 9:30 we chose 5:30 since 6:30 was not available. But when we arrived it appeared that there were many available tables between5:30 and 7:30. "

  • "I was skeptical trying rabbit, but the appetizer was very good. The batter was light and the sauce was good. I was looking forward to the duck and shrimp creole, but the duck was unrecognizable. It was overcooked and chewy. I was expecting a tender duck breast with a creole sauce and not a stew. It might be how I misconceived the description, but the table next to me also seemed disappointed. The nice thing was they took it off my check when they realized I didn't like it."

  • "My husband had never eaten at K Paul's, so we visited there while in New Orleans & it was as good as I remembered. Good service & the food was sumptuous!"

  • "Last night in New Orleans so wanted a fine meal. We certainly got one unpretentious but very fine cooking in a pleasing restaurant with good service. Menu very strong for fish dishes . Highly recommend "

  • "Had the surf and turf (drum and 4 oz filet) and it was outstanding. The filet especially. Also loved the stuffed artichoke and fried green tomatoes. This was an amazing experience and I will return next time I am in NOLA."

  • "The food was delicious at dinner, blackened fish and stuffed pork chop was delicious but it seemed a little long in the tooth. Perhaps the food needs to be updated. The service was very good."

  • "The food was good but the service was awful. Our waiter who walked us to our table didn't even greet us. He wasn't friendly but he warmed up a bit when he realized we were going to order cocktails and wine. The ambiance was ok but not cozy. The place has lost its original charm when it went from a rustic to a high-end Cajun restaurant. Btw, I had the worst whiskey sour I've ever tasted because it was prepared with a mix and not from scratch. I couldn't drink it! Still the waiter charged it to my bill. The prices are a bit inflated. Not sure I'd go back."

  • "Been going to New Orleans for 24 Years and this was my first time at K-Paul...just wish I had not waited so long! Food was Great and the Service was GREAT! Our food took a bit longer than it should have and they went overboard with the apologies and gave us complementary desserts and coffee for the 'inconvenience'! I cannot wait to go back again next time!"

  • "In our group of six, the one who wanted to return had been there 20 years ago and wanted to experience the restaurant again. He was impressed with the decor, service and food as we all were. The only downfall was the noise level that was from a rude party of six. The women were talking loudly and had obnoxious laughs. They were inconsiderate with a full restaurant of guests. We would return to the restaurant."

  • "We are staying in New Orleans for the month of April. New Orleans has 1,300 restaurants, yet this was our third time at K_Paul's. That says it all. Our hostess is friendly and already knows our names. Our wait staff attends to our every need. We could just fill up on th free bread if we wanted to - it's that good. Of course the entrees are what keep bringing us back -- simply delicious. I am a seafood guy, but my wife is from Indiana and does not eat seafood. SHe was not raised right. Well anyway, she had buttermilk fried chicken. She let me taste it. It was tender and mouth watering. I know she's eating friend chicken in a predominantly seafood town, but it was great. I love the Louisiana drumm fish."

  • "I was really looking forward to eating here and was very pleased with the food and the experience; that was not a surprise. I'd procrastinated in making my reservation through Open Table and settled for a 9:30 PM opportunity. On the day of, I called to ask if an earlier seating were possible and was very pleasantly surprised that they found a 7:30 opening with no ado."

  • "My wife and I have eaten in top restaurants all over the world (5 continents) and K-Paul's is second to none. Whatever the dish it is prepared as well as it can be prepared. The service is friendly, down to earth, but the best. An amazing place and a must for anyone who likes good food and visits the Big Easy. Remember K-Paul's definition of "good food" is that you take one bite and cannot wait to take the next bite! So true at K-Paul's ENJOY!"

  • "We went to K-Pauls while visiting New Orleans for a few days. The food was very interesting and tasted great. The bread basket was particularly delicious. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was very nice. Service was good but we ate very early before the place really got busy. I would return for another delicous meal."

  • "I have visited K-Pauls on every one of my 10 trips to New Orleans. The food is always consistently great! The Etouffee is the best I've had and the crawfish/shrimp creole was one of the best meals I've had in all my trips so far. From the bread basket to the sweet potato pecan pie Chef Paul does everything right!"

  • "There is a daily limited menu of specialties, but the food was good. The service is amazing! We had a wonderful dinner for two. Reservations fill quickly, so call early. Everything was very fresh and had a good level southern spice."

  • "Dined here at K-Paul's for the first time in many years, Was expecting a spectacular cajun experience and it did not happen. The appetizer course of a cake of crawfish was dry and flavorless. I should have sent it back but managed to finish a quarter of it. The server removed it without question and in fact never inquired as to how we liked our food. The main course was supposed to be the star and consisted of portions of the two signature dishes: the blackened drumfish and the blackened debris, They had priced this dish at $46 and so expectations were high. The fish was very good and the beef was OK and the combination now way was worth close to the price."

  • "We went for dinner and the 3 of us had different entrees. The food was excellent and the sweet potato pecan pie was to die for...Ready to go back..Hope I can visit NO soon. The wait staff were all excellent."

  • "My drum with crawfish was good. The steak with house sauce was ok. Steak was a little tough. Waiter was very knowledgeable and a little cocky. Not my first meal there and I know their quality is usually excellent. Yes, I will give them another try."
