A word from K-Paul's
In 1979, when Chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, opened their "modest", 62-seat K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen on Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, they had no idea the restaurant was soon to become a sensation, with nightly lines of eager diners waiting sometimes hours to be seated. That was back when and dining was community seating. In 1996, extensive renovations took place and now it offers seating for more than 200. Dining areas include seasonal balcony dining, an intimate climate-controlled courtyard for dining al fresco, K's Parlor private seating as well as open kitchens on both floors. K-Paul's accepts reservations and offers catering on-site or anywhere around the world.
Executive Chef Paul Miller goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality food. We have 3 kitchen and a bakery and the philosophy and commitment to excellence will never change.

  • "Dined here at K-Paul's for the first time in many years, Was expecting a spectacular cajun experience and it did not happen. The appetizer course of a cake of crawfish was dry and flavorless. I should have sent it back but managed to finish a quarter of it. The server removed it without question and in fact never inquired as to how we liked our food. The main course was supposed to be the star and consisted of portions of the two signature dishes: the blackened drumfish and the blackened debris, They had priced this dish at $46 and so expectations were high. The fish was very good and the beef was OK and the combination now way was worth close to the price."

  • "K Pauls is a must go to when we visit New Orleans! The food was fantastic and our server, Trey was a true southern gentlemen. The table biscuits are worth going back for again and again. There were really intoxicated guests guests. We did mention something to our server but, sadly that seems to be an accepted part of dining in the restaurant. We'll be back but, next time serve them bread before serving them more drinks to soak it up. It does effect other guests and their experience."

  • "Our meal at K-Paul's was outstanding! The green fried tomatoes were delish and the butternut squash and shrimp bisque was super yummy! Follow those great openers with the blackened drum and the steak in "debris" sauce and the experience moves from delicious to over the top delicious. And the sweet potato pecan pie ending was awesome! You've got to go to K-Paul's! Yum! Yum!"

  • "We were looking forward to trying the Deli Style Lunch, but we had lunch on Lundi Gras. It was a special menu, as I believe they are usually closed Monday for lunch. I ordered a chicken dish, was disappointed as it was dry. My husband had a rabbit dish, which he enjoyed."

  • "Been to K-Paul's many times and it never fails to please. The gumbo is so perfectly spiced that it leaves a warm feeling in your mouth, but is never hot like lesser places. The filets with the debris sauce is so good, you might want a bowl of just the sauce! My husband had the surf and turf which featured the filets and red fish. he said it was the best meal he had in New Orleans. We could only get a 9 pm reservation, but we called to request an earlier time and the staff was very accommodating in changing reservation time."

  • "After an excellent experience a year ago, we were anxious to get to K Pauls, saving it for our last night in NOLA. It was poor from the beginning, as our server told us she would be with us "as soon as she gets caught up". Drinks were fine, fried green tomatoes were great, then the wait began. As we waited, we donned our jackets as the air conditioning was working overtime. We asked three times to have the temp adjusted as we shiverd and waited. Finally, dinner arrived, two of the meals so salty they were inedible. The third was fine but after the wait, I was too full from nibiling on bread, delicious by the way, and ate just a few bites of the salmon (delicious). To the mgrs credit, he took two meals off the bill. Overall, disappointing."

  • "We have been to NOLA many times and hit all the big names and a fair amount of the newer restaurants but had just never gotten around to trying K-Paul's. As Steve Winwood would say: So glad we made it. It was an exceptional experience from the moment we walked in. We got a warm welcome, and we were seated immediately, and served by a very personable and attentive waitress, Hannah. The ambience was great, lots of light, lots of energy, but not earsplittingly loud like 90% of restaurants these days. Best Caesar salad I've ever tasted, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Definitely a cut above most of the creole dishes you get in and around the French Quarter. This was our first time, but not the last."

Used Open Table for reservations, got an email reminder so you don't lose track of time while taking in all the sights & sounds of the French Quarter. I would highly recommend K-Paul's as your best choice in a town full of choices. Unbelievable flavored found in everything from the bread basket, Cesar salad (croutons are awesome), filet like butter, mashed potatoes & green beans smooth and tasty, and of course the blackened drum nearly brought tears to our eyes. Unbelievable desserts too! We hated to leave but when we did 3 or 4 different employees told us thanks for coming out. Simply incredible!!"
