A word from K-Paul's
In 1979, when Chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, opened their "modest", 62-seat K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen on Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, they had no idea the restaurant was soon to become a sensation, with nightly lines of eager diners waiting sometimes hours to be seated. That was back when and dining was community seating. In 1996, extensive renovations took place and now it offers seating for more than 200. Dining areas include seasonal balcony dining, an intimate climate-controlled courtyard for dining al fresco, K's Parlor private seating as well as open kitchens on both floors. K-Paul's accepts reservations and offers catering on-site or anywhere around the world.
Executive Chef Paul Miller goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality food. We have 3 kitchen and a bakery and the philosophy and commitment to excellence will never change.
Chef Paul and the entire staff cordially welcome you to join us for lunch or dinner!

Diner Reviews
  • "There is a daily limited menu of specialties, but the food was good. The service is amazing! We had a wonderful dinner for two. Reservations fill quickly, so call early. Everything was very fresh and had a good level southern spice."

  • "We went for dinner and the 3 of us had different entrees. The food was excellent and the sweet potato pecan pie was to die for...Ready to go back..Hope I can visit NO soon. The wait staff were all excellent."

  • "Dined here at K-Paul's for the first time in many years, Was expecting a spectacular cajun experience and it did not happen. The appetizer course of a cake of crawfish was dry and flavorless. I should have sent it back but managed to finish a quarter of it. The server removed it without question and in fact never inquired as to how we liked our food. The main course was supposed to be the star and consisted of portions of the two signature dishes: the blackened drumfish and the blackened debris, They had priced this dish at $46 and so expectations were high. The fish was very good and the beef was OK and the combination now way was worth close to the price."

  • "We Chef Paul fans found this to be about what we expected. Interesting seasonal menu, well prepared and not cheap. Huge proportions, so show up hungry."

  • "My drum with crawfish was good. The steak with house sauce was ok. Steak was a little tough. Waiter was very knowledgeable and a little cocky. Not my first meal there and I know their quality is usually excellent. Yes, I will give them another try."

  • "K Pauls is a must go to when we visit New Orleans! The food was fantastic and our server, Trey was a true southern gentlemen. The table biscuits are worth going back for again and again. There were really intoxicated guests guests. We did mention something to our server but, sadly that seems to be an accepted part of dining in the restaurant. We'll be back but, next time serve them bread before serving them more drinks to soak it up. It does effect other guests and their experience."

  • "Our meal at K-Paul's was outstanding! The green fried tomatoes were delish and the butternut squash and shrimp bisque was super yummy! Follow those great openers with the blackened drum and the steak in "debris" sauce and the experience moves from delicious to over the top delicious. And the sweet potato pecan pie ending was awesome! You've got to go to K-Paul's! Yum! Yum!"

  • "We were looking forward to trying the Deli Style Lunch, but we had lunch on Lundi Gras. It was a special menu, as I believe they are usually closed Monday for lunch. I ordered a chicken dish, was disappointed as it was dry. My husband had a rabbit dish, which he enjoyed."

  • "Although we have dined here numerous occasions this time was not pleasant due to noise levels. We asked the wait staff to reseat us and they kindly obliged but the change was no quieter than the first location. Won't go back here."

  • "I go to kpauls every year and have been going there since 1973? Anyway, not long after it opened. And, I will continue to eat there each trip I go to New Orleans."

  • "This was probably our 5th visit and one of the best. The food and service are superior!"

  • "Been to K-Paul's many times and it never fails to please. The gumbo is so perfectly spiced that it leaves a warm feeling in your mouth, but is never hot like lesser places. The filets with the debris sauce is so good, you might want a bowl of just the sauce! My husband had the surf and turf which featured the filets and red fish. he said it was the best meal he had in New Orleans. We could only get a 9 pm reservation, but we called to request an earlier time and the staff was very accommodating in changing reservation time."

  • "This was my 3rd visit to K-Paul's in the last 6 months. This was the first time eating upstairs. The food was not to temperature like my experiences downstairs, including the bread."

  • "Every year I am in New Orleans I eat at Kpauls at least once, often twice. Food is consistently good and that never seems to change. Staff is always attentive. I would recommend it any time."

  • "After an excellent experience a year ago, we were anxious to get to K Pauls, saving it for our last night in NOLA. It was poor from the beginning, as our server told us she would be with us "as soon as she gets caught up". Drinks were fine, fried green tomatoes were great, then the wait began. As we waited, we donned our jackets as the air conditioning was working overtime. We asked three times to have the temp adjusted as we shiverd and waited. Finally, dinner arrived, two of the meals so salty they were inedible. The third was fine but after the wait, I was too full from nibiling on bread, delicious by the way, and ate just a few bites of the salmon (delicious). To the mgrs credit, he took two meals off the bill. Overall, disappointing."

  • "We had very little time, and many dining choices on our last visit to New Orleans. We are very happy that we chose K-Pauls. The food was amazing. My husband had the Blackened Drum, and I had the Prime rib, and of course we shared, both were very good and prepared perfectly. Salads were fresh. The Sweet Potato Pecan Pie for dessert was to die for. I highly recommend for your next visit to New Orleans, I know we will be going back."

  • "The food was as I expected superb and delicious. Both my serious critic children left their plates clean as I did. The service was excellent and very attentive to our needs as they were to the other patrons. I will certainly visit this restaurant again when I am in New Orleans. I had the Blackend Drum, My son had the Rib Eye Steak, My Daughter had the Flounder and My wife picked at our plates."

  • "We have been to NOLA many times and hit all the big names and a fair amount of the newer restaurants but had just never gotten around to trying K-Paul's. As Steve Winwood would say: So glad we made it. It was an exceptional experience from the moment we walked in. We got a warm welcome, and we were seated immediately, and served by a very personable and attentive waitress, Hannah. The ambience was great, lots of light, lots of energy, but not earsplittingly loud like 90% of restaurants these days. Best Caesar salad I've ever tasted, and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Definitely a cut above most of the creole dishes you get in and around the French Quarter. This was our first time, but not the last."

  • "The drum entree was wonderful, artfully seasoned, moist & delicious. Mashed potatoes were excellent. One of our party had the duck entree, which was a little over cooked. The fried green tomato appetizer was excellent."

  • "Can't recommend this place. The food does not warrant the prices. At a minimum, avoid the jambalaya."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "An institution that everyone needs to try. Food was a little on the heavy side. One entree arrived undercooked but it was taken care of immediately. Service is a little slow given that the place is packed."

  • "Second time visiting K-Pauls. Exceptional dining experience. Everything was fresh and very flavorful. Service was very attentive without being too overbearing. I was seated upstairs which was very nice. I would most highly recommend dining at K-Pauls, a New Orleans favorite!"

  • "This was hands down my favorite meal in NOLA. Creative food with delicious flavors. Service was mediocre at best. Server was uninformed on the wine list, but we ended up with a very nice pairing. Loved the blackened fish and the pork tenderloin. Simply amazing"
    Dined on 2/17/2014
  • "Oysters dazzled, turtle soup not as flavorful as expected, blackened drum amazing, other four entrees at the table, not so much. Also, perhaps it is part of the Franco-creole schtick, but our waiter seemed to prefer that he or we were elsewhere. A disappointment at a great restaurant."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Loved the food and the service was attentive. Personally, I could not drink the Cajun Mary (a K-Paul's spin on a Bloody Mary) - guess I wasn't ready for the spices. It did set the stage for a tasty meal."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "We both had the blackened drum. I went a little further and got the 6oz filet to go with it. This is not to be confused with a heart-healthy, west-coast sort of meal. This is delicious, buttery, spicy Cajun magic on a plate. This wasn't our first visit, and it won't be our last. The sweet potato pecan pie guarantees that I will be coming again."

  • "First trip to New Orleans so I took my wife here for her birthday. Used Open Table for reservations, got an email reminder so you don't lose track of time while taking in all the sights & sounds of the French Quarter. I would highly recommend K-Paul's as your best choice in a town full of choices. Unbelievable flavored found in everything from the bread basket, Cesar salad (croutons are awesome), filet like butter, mashed potatoes & green beans smooth and tasty, and of course the blackened drum nearly brought tears to our eyes. Unbelievable desserts too! We hated to leave but when we did 3 or 4 different employees told us thanks for coming out. Simply incredible!!"
