A word from K-Paul's
In 1979, when Chef Paul Prudhomme and his late wife, K, opened their "modest", 62-seat K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen on Chartres Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans, they had no idea the restaurant was soon to become a sensation, with nightly lines of eager diners waiting sometimes hours to be seated. That was back when and dining was community seating. In 1996, extensive renovations took place and now it offers seating for more than 200. Dining areas include seasonal balcony dining, an intimate climate-controlled courtyard for dining al fresco, K's Parlor private seating as well as open kitchens on both floors. K-Paul's accepts reservations and offers catering on-site or anywhere around the world.
Executive Chef Paul Miller goes to great lengths to ensure the highest quality food. We have 3 kitchen and a bakery and the philosophy and commitment to excellence will never change.
Chef Paul and the entire staff cordially welcome you to join us for lunch or dinner!

I've been a fan of Chef Paul's for years, but never made reservations far enough ahead when in New Orleans. After this experience, I will never forget to book a reservation again. Our server Lauren was fantastic, we actually came for dinner 2 nights in a row. Fried green tomatoes, Louisiana drum, blackened filet medallions, lagniappe, eggplant Pirouge with seafood, blackened pork chop, Creme brulee with pecans, sweet potato pecan pie, and Cafe Chartres with Chantilly Cream were some of the dishes we had. Loved the experience and bought $100 worth of retail products so we can work on the recipes when we get home.

One of my favs. Food was great as usual, but the service was really pathetic. Server could not have been more disinterested. In NOLA where there is stiff competition, I can't imagine she will be working there (or anywhere) long.

I have ALWAYS loved coming here but it was a total disaster. The food was delivered to roughly 6 tables at the same time - 2 were parties of 8! It was like a catered event. My fish was so cool that the butter would not melt. Even worse, the cold mashed potatoes had firmed up from the cooled butter that was in them. We would have happily sent food back had the waiter ever shown back up. Dined here in August and I enjoyed my food but not everyone at the table felt the same. A trend seems to be developing. New Orleans can deliver outstanding food and this place needs some oversight. It will definitely be a few years before I consider going again. Hope they are open.

I suppose a good motto for K-Paul's would be "Don't fix it if it ain't broke." It's clearly working because the place is packed every night. We could only get an 8:45 pm weekday reservation--and we applied almost two weeks ahead. That being said, we didn't enjoy K-Paul's all that much. The food seemed predictable, poorly presented and--most of all--overpriced.

Cute restaurant with charming brick walls, as so many buildings are in the French Quarter. The food was very good. I got the blackened pork chop, which was good but not fantastic. My husband got the blackened rib eye which was amazing. Overall - we had a great experience.

I had not been to K-Paul's for about 10 years but everything was as good as I remembered it. Our group of 3 had turtle soup and crab fingers to start, which were excellent. Entrees included veal topped with fried oysters, a salmon dish and a classic shrimp etoufee. I had the veal and it was tremendous. My companions enjoyed their entrees also. Finished up with pecan pie and custard Marie (similar to crème brulee). Just can't say enough. Every bite a delight. We were seated upstairs and it was on in the evening, so there were only a couple of other tables occupied. Our server was fun and attentive.

This was our first visit to K-Paul's and will definitely try to include this restaurant into the schedule when we visit NO's the next time. NO's is blessed with a lot of great restaurants, but very happy we included this one among the 4 we were able to visit for dinner during this trip. Next time I will specifically ask for seating in one of the rooms with windows vs. being in a room w/o windows. The windows is the only reason I didn't give the restaurant an overall Excellent rating as well as the ambiance very good vs. excellent.

I first went to K-Paul's in 1988, when the country was just discovering Cajun cooking. The restaurant only had 62 seats and I waited in line for over an hour. I have never waited for a table that long before or since. It was the best meal I had ever had. So when my wife and I returned (she had never been) I was more than a little nervous about how it would be after all this time. I was not disappointed! We had a fabulous dinner: the turtle soup was amazing and the stuffed eggplant was out of this world. Our waiter Marcelo was very attentive and professional. Other restaurants get the big writeups, but this is where it all started, and it remains a classic.

The fried green tomato with remoulade sauce appetizer was superb. The remoulade sauce was one of the most unique and delicious culinary experiences that I have had after growing up in New York and traveling extensively. The blackened beef medallions were also exquisite. They combine a spicy seared surface with a very tender flavorful interior. I had, but would skip, the bread pudding for dessert. While the pudding was fine it lacks a sauce to complement and moisten it.

Had dinner with a small group at K-Pauls and we were fortunate enough to be seated directly across from the open kitchen and got to see up close Paul Prudhomme's famous "blackened" cooking in action - including an occasional extra hot flame flaring up. Food was outstanding from the classic blackened redfish to crab claws to steak. Desert was shared as we were stuffed but couldn't resist a double chocolate bundt cake. Staff service was attentive, but not overbearing and when one commented on the great blue cheese dressing, they brought a copy of recipe to table. Overall a great night. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

As usual, the food at K-Pauls is just outstanding! The fried green tomato appetizer is superb and I had their surf and turf (a blackened filet mignon and a blackened drum) which is just perfect. My wife's dinner was perfect as well. Only blemish was they forget to bring my gumbo which was quickly rectified. If you are going to New Orleans, be sure to make reservations as this place still continues to fill up after all these years.

Portions were quite generous, but just okay in taste. Had to ask for the special Coolinary menu; it was not presented with the regular menu. This is a huge promotion in New Orleans in August and I felt since K-Paul's chose to participate, they certainly should have presented that option to us without our asking for that menu. I do not think the food is as flavorable as in past visits. The inside courtyard dining is very nice ambiance.

The food here was so good that I sent a text during dinner to a friend visiting in a few weeks and told her to make a reservation immediately. I was there with a group of four and we each ordered different items and tasted tested everything. We had steak, tuna, flounder, drum and salmon, all of which was great. If we had to pick a favorite, it would be the char broiled tuna. We tried four different desserts as well. We were split on the favorite between the bread pudding and the ultimate chocolate cake. I will definitely be back on my next trip.
