Chef/restaurateur John Howie's definitive NW steak house, serving custom-aged USDA Prime steaks, American Wagyu Beef, Australian Waygu beef, Japanese "A5" 100% Wagyu beef, fresh seasonal Pacific fish and seafoods, wild foraged mushrooms, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables. John Howie Steak features two wood fired grills, mesquite charcoal and applewood that add subtle flavors to the foods. The wine list features a "Best of Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator. Enjoy classic and seasonal specialty cocktails, or the world’s finest single-malt scotch, bourbons and fine cognacs in the lounge. Two beautifully appointed private dining rooms are available for meetings or special occasions. A 20% service charge is included on each check. John Howie Steak retains 100% of the service charge.     The Tempura bacon w/maple sauce is the best! The steaks are consistently cooked with pinkness as ordered, and very flavorful and tender and lean. Our server provided perfect service. Always very pleased with this nice restaurant!

    We went on a Thursday night for the 3-course prix fixe dinner advertised on open table as $51 per person but the pricing was higher at the restaurant - about $76 per person before tax and tip. Food and service were great, just felt the experience advertised was misleading.

    I had high expectations for John Howie Steak in Bellevue, given its reputation and pricing. Unfortunately, both the food and service fell short. Our Wagyu steak was burned on the outside but still raw inside—not the quality you’d expect at this level. The service felt rushed throughout the evening. Our waiter seemed in a hurry and even brought us the check along with dessert, which made us feel like we were being pushed out. For the price, I expected a much more refined and enjoyable dining experience

    Party of two celebrating a good friend’s birthday. We enjoyed the Chef’s special Filet Mignon - it was cooked to perfection - flavor, tenderness - AMAZING! We were well taken care of from the time we arrived until we departed. Superb service! If you really want a fine dining experience without emptying your wallet you could not do better than John Howie. Thank You for a wonderful celebration.

    Sat down and waited ten minutes before we were given water. About another ten minutes later till we had a waiter come to our table. Ordered an appetizer and never received it. Brought out dinner and our drinks were empty did not acknowledge or ask if we wanted refills. No one came by to check how the food was or if we needed anything. Automatic 20% tip was added for a party of 3 with the worst service I have had at an upscale restaurant, very disappointing will not eat here again.

    We love John Howie Steak and John Howie Whiskey! I chose John Howie Steak for our anniversary dinner and we had a fantastic experience, as always. The server was the perfect balance of professional yet friendly. I love the selection of pan-seared steaks on the menu (which I don't remember seeing in the past). I had the twice-baked potato as a side. Amazing and flavorful. I just finished it for lunch today and it felt like a meal on its own. Our cocktails (Paper Plane, Smoked Black Manhattan, Grand Larceny) were delicious. John Howie Steak and Whiskey will continue being our go-to spots on the Eastside.

    I’m not going to write with you, but the food was a little above average. I will see the crabcakes and the corn was delicious. The steak was really good, but I’ve had better again. The service was good no issues there. He was attentive and good but for a Bellevue restaurant they charge these prices not so nice.
