With the cheese bread they bring you, don't really need to order and appetizer unless maybe with a large group or big appetites. We have and the corn bread with honey, awesome! Our son always gets the salmon, I usually stick to the ribs, my favorite! I have had the small filet which is really enough for a woman's appetite, my husband has had the pork chop and that was incredible and tender too. Dessert is delicious also, the grilled bananas is great and enough to share."

  • "This was our second time at JD Hoyt's. The pork chops are amazing as is the steak. I had swordfish which was very good too. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's downtown and has good food. For example a glass of generic Pinot Noir wine was $14, and a small piece of chocolate cake was $10. We both enjoyed our main courses but weren't impressed with the desserts. Overall we enjoyed our meals and will go back for our next special night."

The server made sure everything went like clock work. She was very attentive to our needs and was very pleasant. I had the pork chop/rib combo, it was wonderful. The chop was moist and flavorful. The rib was a dry rub but came with a side of Bbq sauce, did not need the sauce the ribs were mouth watering. Would definitely go back."

  • "We took a couple of fathers on Father's Day. They are famous for their pork chops and rightly so. They're perfectly done and huge. Our server was the best we've had in a while. She was knowledgeable, efficient, and had a personality that added to our dining experience. While the place was pretty busy there was a very acceptable noise level, which is a wonderful change of pace from many of the newer restaurants that seem to think jet plane noise levels add energy."

  • "This was our first visit to Hoyts for brunch, we have had lunch and dinner numerous times. When we read the list of items for the brunch we thought it was family style to share, when we received eat each person was served everything 2 sausage links, two pork chops, a slice of ham, a pile of scrambled eggs, two biscuits with enough gravy for 8 and cajun hashbrowns. Trying to decide what to eat first was the challenge. Half of mine came home with me. If you love brunch but hate the buffet style ones you NEED to go to Hoyts you definitely wont leave hungry. If you dont want all that food they do have other options, one in our group had the french toast which looked and was amazing. Another great dining experience at Hoyts."

  • "The pork chops are out of this world. For under $30, you and another person can split the two-chop plate and still have enough to bring home. We went for an early dinner when the twins were not playing in town so it was pretty low-key. The toddler and infant we had in our group were welcome and were able to eat the sides, I didn't ask about a kids menu. We love going here for dinner because it is always really great food and friendly, attentive service."

  • "They do not offer a kids menu, but were willing to accommodate for my young kids. I ordered what I thought was a safe choice for a side (mac & cheese), but it was too gourmet for them. My kids like steak but again, they were too gourmet for them. Dessert was a hit!"

  • "I generally like JD Hoyt's but our recent brunch experience was pretty average. The food came out on two separate platters, one each for my wife and I. I understand it is "family" style and this is how they do it with only 2 people but it was just a huge mess of meat mostly. Food tasted okay but not outstanding. I love their Cajun chops and would go back for dinner specifically for them but really doubtful we'll do brunch here again any time soon."

  • "My husband took me to J.D Hoyt's for a belated anniversary dinner. My first time, but he has been many times. I ordered the New York strip with blue cheese, it was awesome. I got Mac and cheese on the side, I didn't think it was anything special. It was a slower night, so lots of wait staff we're checking on us, a little annoying. Our actual waitress was a little dry. We weren't dressed to the 9's, so maybe she didn't want to waste her personality on a couple she didn't think would tip. Who knows. Overall I would definitely visit again."

It took a waitress 15 min. to ask us for a drink order. we then ordered the brunch for all 7 of us . she took another 15 minutes to bring us our drinks and did not come back for refills for a half an hour, we did not receive any food for 1 hour and 15 minutes. As we looked around it did not appear to be busy. For a sunday brunch I thought this was very unreasonable."

  • "We made the mistake of coming downtown just when crowds were parking for a Twins game. We finally found street parking with a meter. Now to the food - we ordered the Sunday brunch and were pleased the selections and the volume for the price. Delicious!! Our waitress brought us a box to take home the abundant left over meat. All in all, it was a very nice time for two old ladies. Thank you."

My guest ordered a small tenderloin which was fine, as were our "dirty rice" side dish, drinks and desert. The vegetables du jour were overcooked and my small cut of prime rib was quite disappointing. I've always had excellent chops and steaks here in the past. The server was very pleasant and helpful. I'll try again."

The food is delicious, have tried the filet, pork chop and have had the ribs several times. Also have tried the sweet potato fries, garlic mashed, mac and cheese and asparagus.
