Diner Reviews
  • "I have always loved Jax. I hadn't been to their new Glendale location and I was skeptical of this location choice. But it was lovely! Great atmosphere. Large space and not as noisy as the other two locations downtown and in Boulder. Food was wonderful as expected from Jax!!"

  • "Outstanding service. We dropped in at a convenient happy hour they host from 4-6, which was nice, then segued into dinner, which was very enjoyable. Jax does many things right, which make it an upscale seafood restaurant, yet they manage to make it quite friendly to our going-on-2 year-old."

  • "The quality of service was poor at best. The food was okay. I wouldn't rush back!"

  • "JAX in Glendale is the largest space of the JAX chain we have dined in. The decor is upbeat, modern, comfortable, and airy. The food preparation was better than previous dining experiences. I was taken by the "freshly prepared by order seafood soup". Yummy. Another compliment to the pastry chef for deliciously prepared ice cream brownie sundae. With the hot chocolate brownie , the fresh chocolate chip mini- cookies were just too much sugar overload. But delicious anyhow. Cocktail from the bar were nicely prepared and quickly served with a smile. Definitely a highlight of the Glendale dining scene that we will return to. P.S. The upstairs outdoor patio is another plus."

  • "We were seated beside the beautiful aquarium. Perfect entertainment for the teenagers and grandparents. Arrived in time for happy hour and enjoyed oysters at almost half the price and cocktails. Dinner was delicious! Each plate was unique and beautifully presented. We will be back for sure."

  • "Great place, has a more modern interior than the one in the old loft building downtown. Food is excellent. Service at the bar outstanding. Service once we got to our table dropped a bit, but she was still quite friendly. We were there for a birthday dinner (just two of us), and we especially appreciate how nice they were about the birthday. We'll definitely be back, especially to test out the rooftop deck on one of our few non-rainy nights."

  • "One of our favorite places to go! We are never disappointed with the food or service. Open table makes it easy to secure a reservation."

  • "Very good service....friendly, helpful, well mannered. The food has always been very very good. The "peel and eat shrimp" was sooooo great....messy but great. The halibut spectacular. This time sat up on the roof w/ a beautiful night and good view. AND...they have a good, well stocked bar."

  • "Great food, friendly and helpful staff, terrific location and fireworks too (July 3rd). We really like this place and it's sister restaurant downtown."

  • "We came here with our 3 kids(12,5,2) for our anniversary dinner. The service was top notch, the food was amazing(our kids even licked their plates) . My only complaint is that the gumbo wasn't as expected. It tasted more like red beans and rice. We will definitely come back for oysters!!!"

  • "Our waitress is very nice and very helpful to accommodate us with our baby. The food was also great."

  • "Second time here, loved it! We will be back. We sat by the kitchen and kept seeing plates come out that looked amazing couldn't decide what to have."

  • "we had a great dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant just about anyone. It was very busy but at the same time the food was worth it. I recommend getting a reservation or you will have a hard time getting a table."

  • "When deciding on a bottle of Chardonnay, we were directed to a $55.00 bottle. Our glasses were brought to the table and after about a 5 minute wait, we were told that they did not have the bottle we ordered, but that the $65.00 bottle was recommended. Usually a restaurant that does not have a bottle ordered, would gladly give you the next higher priced wine for the same price as was originally ordered....well, not Jax! We left and will most likely never return. Get it right Jax."

  • "Staff was flustered because they were busy. Food was lukewarm when served. EArly evening sun made several tables uncomfortable. They need to invest in some sgades!"

  • "The server was amazing, so helpful! And the food was delicious. Yes, it's expensive for dinner, but worth it. I recommend going towards the end of happy hour to get the cheap oysters and then have dinner so it's not so expensive."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The food was good, but the service was lacking. Prices were high, an evening for 2 was $127.00 before tip. We just felt that this was a bit overpriced in comparison to similar restaurants in our area. Will not be back for dinner, perhaps for happy hour."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "while the service was very good and the atmosphere, OK (aside from the noise level) I was quite surprised by the size of the portions. Our orders appeared to be completely weighed, measured and trimmed in the interests of portion control. For example, I ordered the pan seared halibut for $32. What came out was a plate with overdone cavatelli, a couple of baby carrots (roots still attached, for décor, I suppose) some kind if viney greens which were inedible and worst of all, what appeared to be a 4 ounce portion of fish. While the fish was cooked well, I think that 4 ounces for $32 is a bit much--after all when you break it down that comes to $8 an ounce or $128 per pound. No fish is worth that!!"

  • "Loved my meal at Jax the other evening. Friendly and intelligent staff, excellent seafood (crabcake was divine) and great presentation made this a very memorable meal."

  • "The fish was terrific but the menu selection was very poor. Most dishes had a meat component (especially pork) and that is very unappealing to me."

  • "Great little restaurant spot....great food, but slow service. We would go back again."

  • "This restaurant was right next where we were staying. We booked a brunch reservation at 10 a.m. which was the only time we could get on Father's day. We met up with some friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given a quiet table (which I requested) and it was a great location to catch up with old friends. Two of us had the quiche, one had the hash and one had the baked eggs. They were all good. They had a soft shell crab sandwich which I wish I had ordered, but was not disappointed in what I had. The service was outstanding. The bloody marys are excellent, very spicy. Would go back again."

  • "Great for business lunch and dinner. Would go again"

  • "Way to much salt in the food. Very small portion of fish. Vegetables were in a sauce I would have liked them without the buttery sauce Restaurant is to bright, lights could be turned down. Wine list is confusing not a fan of the way they categorized the wines on the list The wine the waiter chose was made for the restaurant it was $42. It tasted like a $8'bottle if you purchased at a store. This restaurant is very popular but I don't think I will return. "

  • "Very loud, sparse apps, pricey, waited 30 min for dessert to be served."

  • "The service was outstanding, paying attention to our very detail. The Sea food was amazing! Parking was hard to come by, but other than that it was a great evening."

  • "Pretty place, but the food was so so. They were not interested in filling our waters. "

  • "The food has only gotten better! The appetizers are so good though I never get to order an entree. Next time. "

  • "I made a reservation and noted that it was our 24th anniversary and that we specifically wanted a table in the upstairs outdoor patio area which looks like it has a nice mountain view. They were kind enough to leave me a voice mail confirming our reservation but neglected to tell us that the upstairs patio was not open on the night we were dining. I would have changed the night if I had known. We were seated outside and 3 different car alarms went off during our meal which was also annoying as the parking lot is directly next to the seating area. The food was good but expensive for the quality. I would not recommend the calamari but the lobster risotto was excellent. "

  • "AVERAGE SEAFOOD FOR A TON OF $ , TERRIBLE ACOUSTICS AND DESIGN"

  • "We have been a customer of Jax downtown for many years. We expected something at least similar at this restaurant. This was not the case. Fish was badly overcooked, coming out dry and tough. Jax often serves a creative medley of vegetables and other foods served under the main dish. For $32 per plate you would expect that the accompanying food would be freshly prepared. You would be wrong. I received a salty mix of dried out slop that was obviously prepared days earlier and repeatedly re-heated. Jax ay be the worst very expensive restaurant in Colorado."

  • "The food was ok and a bit pricey for what we received. The $3 charge for bread was actually tacky. Although, the bread was good. The service was about average.."

  • "We made a reservation and were place at at high top table in the bar that is positioned next to the kitchen, food expediting line, coffee station. It was the busiest corner. My chair was knocked every 30 seconds with a server going by yelling"behind". I would have been happier just sitting at the bar away from all the traffic. Overall, it was the most unpleasant experience."
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "We came in for light meal, oysters and martini and while the food and service were fine, we were shocked by price. My companion asked for some shrimp for her salad, received 4 medium size shrimps and they cost $12!"
    Dined on 5/14/2014
  • "This place has excellent seafood, prepared in creative (and delicious) ways. The cocktails are great and a perfect compliment to the creative menu. The staff work as a team, making sure the service is delivered well. It's one of our new favorite places."

  • "My husband and I recently enjoyed brunch and another dinner at Jax (one of many since the restaurant opened last fall). We find ourselves returning to this neighborhood spot in Glendale again and again--not just because it's convenient but because the food is always outstanding. (We've tried most of the other eateries in this new hotel/restaurant complex and haven't been impressed with any of them.) The crab cake Benedict at brunch was luscious; the out-of-town guest we treated to dinner was impressed with his fresh-caught halibut (which I had enjoyed in late April); and my husband raved about his duck confit. We also appreciate how the hostesses comply when we request a "quiet" table. Thanks for coming to our neighborhood, Jax!"

  • "Vibrant, fresh, tasty, just try and sit at a table near the bar. The area to the north seek separated and not as fun. "

  • "First time at Jax and was impressed by the variety of raw oysters and how fresh tasting they were. Their pickled vegetables were delicious. Will come back again!"
