Diner Reviews
  • "We have gone to JAX at least a dozen times and are usually pleased...the bar is awesome, but table seating leaves a bit to be desired. Some nights we have fabulous food and service and other nights ,not so much! We love the "hi-JAX" open deck upstairs, the view is beautiful, especially at sunset. It is definitely a "hot-spot" so I recommend reservations. The Oysters are always fresh and delicious, they are our faves!"

  • "While our food was excellent, the restaurant is extremely noisy. Wish the weather had been better so we could have eaten outside."

  • "I had the mussels which I don't typically have in Denver due to freshness issues. I must say that the mussel dish served at Jax was as fresh as it can possibly be. But pasta? How about moules et frites? Traditional, yes, but SO good. Ambience is quite noisy, too. It's probably because of so many people raving about the food."

  • "we arrived at 9p on a saturday night - not really prime time in denver. the restaurant - usually packed and lively - was dead, so maybe that explains the service, which was also dead. for being practically the only people there you would think the service would have been fabulous. Not so. When we did get service the staff was very nice. Our waiter went out of his way to bring us stronger drinks when we mentioned that the ones we were served were weak. the food was good. boiled shrimp were spicy and terrific, though not really 'jumbo'. mussels were great and the best part of the visit. overall a c+."

  • "If you like seafood go here. Being from the east coast I consider myself a little bit of a seafood snob. This place will fill your fix!"

  • "I've been to the one downtown and the atmosphere is better here in Glendale, but I think there was quite a different menu from the other one. Nonetheless, food was good; just wish there was a little more for the price."

  • "We're happy to have a Jax Fish House in our neighborhood! The food is delicious, and I like that they concentrate on selling sustainable fish. The Buttermilk Bread and sweet butter is a favorite starter for the whole family. The oysters are great, and the salads are fresh and imaginative. All four of us enjoyed our dinner! Thanks Jax!"

  • "Jax was a big disappointment. From the service to the food it was not the jax downtown!! The coffee was lukewarm, the quiche was cold. The flank steak was so tough I couldn't even chew it. Left most of it on the plate. The worst piece of meat that I have ever been served. I felt very disappointed because I took a friend to the restaurant and gave it a big +++ but was so embarrassed because it was so bad. I wish I could say something good about my brunch but unfortunately I can't."

  • "The chef has mastered some of the best sides with her proteins we 'be ever had. Went Friday night for dinner. Went back the next night to take out the sides: amazing Tater Tots, cornbread with crawfish velouté, pork and cabbage. My daughter and her fiancée had the Snickers dessert and said it was the best dish of the dinner. In the Glendale shopping center so parking free and convenient."

  • "Wonderful food and atmosphere. Great service and always a favorite when I come into town. I would suggest this to anyone."

  • "Great food is you like fish - especially shellfish. However the scene can be overly noisy if you want to have a reasonable conversation with your fellow dinner mates. Also, our server this night seemed to be overwhelmed so service was slow"

  • "After a mixup at the front, service and food were good."

  • "Some issues with the food this time (like forgot the garlic in the garlic fries!). Also, need to watch the pricing. We were there during Happy Hour; however, when ordering additional appetizers with dinner, the prices went to the dinner price, not the Happy Hour price...clever "bait and switch", cost us an additional $15 on the dinner tab."

  • "I have always loved Jax. I hadn't been to their new Glendale location and I was skeptical of this location choice. But it was lovely! Great atmosphere. Large space and not as noisy as the other two locations downtown and in Boulder. Food was wonderful as expected from Jax!!"

  • "If it wasn't for the food, I would have said our experience at Jax Glendale was poor. The service was slow, the server forgot to place our drink orders, the whole evening we saw him maybe 3 times. The food runner and man who refilled our waters deserved the tip that night, not our server. Won't be coming back to this location."

  • "Outstanding service. We dropped in at a convenient happy hour they host from 4-6, which was nice, then segued into dinner, which was very enjoyable. Jax does many things right, which make it an upscale seafood restaurant, yet they manage to make it quite friendly to our going-on-2 year-old."

  • "The quality of service was poor at best. The food was okay. I wouldn't rush back!"

  • "JAX in Glendale is the largest space of the JAX chain we have dined in. The decor is upbeat, modern, comfortable, and airy. The food preparation was better than previous dining experiences. I was taken by the "freshly prepared by order seafood soup". Yummy. Another compliment to the pastry chef for deliciously prepared ice cream brownie sundae. With the hot chocolate brownie , the fresh chocolate chip mini- cookies were just too much sugar overload. But delicious anyhow. Cocktail from the bar were nicely prepared and quickly served with a smile. Definitely a highlight of the Glendale dining scene that we will return to. P.S. The upstairs outdoor patio is another plus."

  • "We were seated beside the beautiful aquarium. Perfect entertainment for the teenagers and grandparents. Arrived in time for happy hour and enjoyed oysters at almost half the price and cocktails. Dinner was delicious! Each plate was unique and beautifully presented. We will be back for sure."

  • "Great place, has a more modern interior than the one in the old loft building downtown. Food is excellent. Service at the bar outstanding. Service once we got to our table dropped a bit, but she was still quite friendly. We were there for a birthday dinner (just two of us), and we especially appreciate how nice they were about the birthday. We'll definitely be back, especially to test out the rooftop deck on one of our few non-rainy nights."

  • "One of our favorite places to go! We are never disappointed with the food or service. Open table makes it easy to secure a reservation."

  • "Very good service....friendly, helpful, well mannered. The food has always been very very good. The "peel and eat shrimp" was sooooo great....messy but great. The halibut spectacular. This time sat up on the roof w/ a beautiful night and good view. AND...they have a good, well stocked bar."

  • "Great food, friendly and helpful staff, terrific location and fireworks too (July 3rd). We really like this place and it's sister restaurant downtown."

  • "We came here with our 3 kids(12,5,2) for our anniversary dinner. The service was top notch, the food was amazing(our kids even licked their plates) . My only complaint is that the gumbo wasn't as expected. It tasted more like red beans and rice. We will definitely come back for oysters!!!"

  • "Our waitress is very nice and very helpful to accommodate us with our baby. The food was also great."

  • "Second time here, loved it! We will be back. We sat by the kitchen and kept seeing plates come out that looked amazing couldn't decide what to have."

  • "we had a great dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant just about anyone. It was very busy but at the same time the food was worth it. I recommend getting a reservation or you will have a hard time getting a table."

  • "When deciding on a bottle of Chardonnay, we were directed to a $55.00 bottle. Our glasses were brought to the table and after about a 5 minute wait, we were told that they did not have the bottle we ordered, but that the $65.00 bottle was recommended. Usually a restaurant that does not have a bottle ordered, would gladly give you the next higher priced wine for the same price as was originally ordered....well, not Jax! We left and will most likely never return. Get it right Jax."

  • "Staff was flustered because they were busy. Food was lukewarm when served. EArly evening sun made several tables uncomfortable. They need to invest in some sgades!"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "The server was amazing, so helpful! And the food was delicious. Yes, it's expensive for dinner, but worth it. I recommend going towards the end of happy hour to get the cheap oysters and then have dinner so it's not so expensive."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "The food was good, but the service was lacking. Prices were high, an evening for 2 was $127.00 before tip. We just felt that this was a bit overpriced in comparison to similar restaurants in our area. Will not be back for dinner, perhaps for happy hour."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "while the service was very good and the atmosphere, OK (aside from the noise level) I was quite surprised by the size of the portions. Our orders appeared to be completely weighed, measured and trimmed in the interests of portion control. For example, I ordered the pan seared halibut for $32. What came out was a plate with overdone cavatelli, a couple of baby carrots (roots still attached, for décor, I suppose) some kind if viney greens which were inedible and worst of all, what appeared to be a 4 ounce portion of fish. While the fish was cooked well, I think that 4 ounces for $32 is a bit much--after all when you break it down that comes to $8 an ounce or $128 per pound. No fish is worth that!!"

  • "Loved my meal at Jax the other evening. Friendly and intelligent staff, excellent seafood (crabcake was divine) and great presentation made this a very memorable meal."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The fish was terrific but the menu selection was very poor. Most dishes had a meat component (especially pork) and that is very unappealing to me."

  • "Great little restaurant spot....great food, but slow service. We would go back again."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "This restaurant was right next where we were staying. We booked a brunch reservation at 10 a.m. which was the only time we could get on Father's day. We met up with some friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were given a quiet table (which I requested) and it was a great location to catch up with old friends. Two of us had the quiche, one had the hash and one had the baked eggs. They were all good. They had a soft shell crab sandwich which I wish I had ordered, but was not disappointed in what I had. The service was outstanding. The bloody marys are excellent, very spicy. Would go back again."

  • "Great for business lunch and dinner. Would go again"
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "Way to much salt in the food. Very small portion of fish. Vegetables were in a sauce I would have liked them without the buttery sauce Restaurant is to bright, lights could be turned down. Wine list is confusing not a fan of the way they categorized the wines on the list The wine the waiter chose was made for the restaurant it was $42. It tasted like a $8'bottle if you purchased at a store. This restaurant is very popular but I don't think I will return. "
