Diner Reviews
  • "First visit to J. Parking is fairly accessible. Greeted courteously then seated at bar while table opened up. Nice bar menu. An upscale Old Fashioned was good. Entrees were good not fantastic. Medium rare tenderloin medallions were on the cold side although nicely prepared. The accompanying sides were very good. A bit noisy when filled but got nice as the crowd thinned. All in all a nice evening with a nice meal. We'll give them another try."

  • "Forgive me, I do not remember the name of our server, but she did mention she was also the pastry chef. Other than being understaffed, our service very very good. The food was outstanding. The duck was some of the best I have ever had. I found the wine line to be very reasonable and full of gems. The dining room felt very cramped. If you would remove one of the 4 tops, that would help space things out a bit. My guests and I felt a bit packed in. Overall great dinner though. I will definitely return"

  • "Love this restaurant! Atmosphere is great & staff the best!"

  • "The food was very good indeed. Only two minor complaints. (1) The restaurant was a bit chilly. (2) One of us wanted to order the shrimp and grits without the tasso (ham), but we were told that it could not be prepared that way--this was a bit disappointing. What we did have was delicious. The prices were rather steep, however."

  • "The lamb dish was wonderful. My favorite dish. The noise level can be high, but was seated in back room where we ended up having a private evening. Never had a bad meal here as cooking prep is consistent."

  • "Being foodies in Omaha is not always easy, however J Coco's stands tall amongst some of the best West Coast and international restaurants that we have been to. My partner is an executive chef and I was born into a family of wonderful Northern Italian cooks in the California wine country region. Our 14 year old son was raised with a very diverse palette, and everyone of us was beyond satisfied with the wide range of flavors, beautiful visual presentations, and generous portions of amazing food. J Coco's offers the best food, service, ambiance, front of house to back of house service that we have experienced in the culinary offerings in Omaha. Bravo to the owner/chef!"

  • "We use J'Coco for our end of institute celebration and we love the food and atmosphere and special treatment. It's a great way to end our summer together. It's also nice to be close and convenient to UNO."

  • "Our office had a five person team meeting over lunch from 1-2:30. We enjoyed a "just right" lunch with freshly prepared food, even one special order. Service was appropriately attentive and non-rushed. For three of the five, it was a first time. Everyone asked if we could visit J COCO again!"

  • "The food was excellent but quite noisy. We couldn't hear each other at a four person table."

  • "we spent $90 for 2 entrees and 1 drink. $4 and $5 for a side salad on top of it? Totally not worth it and the parking sucks"

  • "Food not only delicious but innovative flavors -- always mixing new ingredients in new ways-- very upscale and classy in environment and menu and approach to excellence but very friendly and comfortable for diner. One of Omaha's best!"

  • "Always great food, wine and atmosphere. The service is friendly and helpful. Our appetizer, meal and dessert were all timed perfectly. Thanks for another great dining experience."

  • "This will now be one of our favorite or special date night places to go! J. Coco is very cozy and the outside dining is nice too. The food was fantastic and so were the cocktails on the drink menu! Everything was unique and made with care."

  • "The size of the outdoor patio at J. Coco's is perfect. Enough tables to feel like a place but small enough that you get good service. Food is just as fantastic as when you eat indoors."

  • "We dined with a couple on a Saturday night for the first time. Waiter was pleasant and helpful with the menu. Appetizers were a home run, hummus and olive plate and mini tacos. Salads were enjoyed by all. Entrees were loved by three out of four. Unhappy guest found his steak very fatty steak and full of grissle. Duck, Salmon and Beef meddalions were great! Unexpected ending by one."

  • "Construction on Dodge forced me to take Leavenworth home one day and spied J Coco - I'd heard good things about it, but then forgotten. Made a reservation and checked out the menu on-line. It was a great foodie place - everything was good - risotto amazing and mahi mahi was best I've ever had (even when the mahi mahi was locally caught!). Wine list was short, but excellent - we even took a photo of the wine so we could remember it and buy more! Prices were well in the range for the quality we experienced."

  • "What a great place to eat!! The Chef has done such an amazing job with the menu, there is something for everyone on it. I highly recommend the short rib tacos as an appetizer! One of the best things I have ever had. We will be back again, all the way from Denver!!!"

  • "This was my two guests' first experience at J.Coco's. They enjoyed it immensely -- the hors d'oeuvres, entree and oh, the desserts! received high marks. I am sure they will return as will I."

  • "The dining room is very elegant. The food has nice standbys but with something extra, so that the reuben uses red cabbage, and the cobb salad an interesting dressing. Everything fun. Wait staff was attentive but not in your face. Great for a business lunch. Better with your spouse."

  • "Great food and service. Great intimate atmosphere for drinks out or a great dinner. Emily started us off with handcrafted coctails and Erna picked great wines for dinner. Excellent food. You will not leave hungry. We had two dinner specials (fish and steak) that were delicious. Fun and energetic staff. Great restaurant!"

  • "While dinner at J Coco is always special, the quality of lunch is sometimes so subtle that halfway through, someone interrupts the conversation to say "wow, this is great!" Parking can be a challenge. I parked a block away on a neighborhood street. It was well worth the short walk, which, in reality, is no further from the front door than the walk from a parking lot to restaurants downtown or in midtown."

  • "My wife and I have been here several times and have found the service and food to be very good. The everyday menu has sevaral good coices but they always have a couple of specials too"

  • "We loved food at the Flat Iron when Jennifer was the chef. This was our first trip to J Coco's. We went w/another couple to celebrate anniversaries. The drink and wine menus were good, esp the Manhattan. We had the olive appetizer - good for four, esp enjoyed the fried olives. Salads were OK. I like kale, but not a great addition to otherwise good Caesar salad. Duck breast and beef medallion dinners were hits - very good. Would order again. My friend disappointed in the veal - proclaimed it "just OK" and would not order it again. I had the roasted chicken with goat cheese. A little dry and almost no goat cheese. Accompanying squash lasagna was way too salty as were brussel sprouts. Cauliflower was OK. Will give it another try."

  • "We went with friends for drinks and appetizers, (I'm in live with the fried olives!) and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. We now wished we would have just stayed for dinner, as we were out to try a new restaurant after appetizers. "

  • "Went to J.Coco on my 40th bday in June. Made reservation online - might have been better to do it over phone so they might have mentioned they had a lovely patio (I had no idea - first timer). When we arrived & asked to be seated outside, the hostess seemed VERY put out. Both hostesses were unwelcoming and snooty, actually. In any case, we were lucky - a table suddenly left and we were seated outside. Lovely atmosphere. Loud ambulance/fire trucks went by twice in the 3-4 hours we were there. Our nice, knowledgeable server warned us that may happen (UNMC nearby), but it wasn't a big deal (even for my migraine-prone friend) as they go by quickly. The food, wine & dessert were fantastic. I'm no foodie, but all four of us loved every bite."

  • "An excellent lunch location - food/menu combinations creative, well presented! Desserts tempted us, thankfully. Service attentive and not "pushy" - we could take our time and socialize with fellow guests, and yet meal was done in a timely manner! Will return again ASAP."

  • "Our food and service was excellent. We did have one hitch - when I booked online I said that I wanted a cake for a 50th wedding anniversary couple that would be dining with us. This did not happen. The staff did a good job of pulling something together instead."

  • "I visited Omaha for business and stopped by J. Coco's for dinner one night. My GPS had a hard time finding the place, but once I arrived I was in heaven. I ate at the bar, so I started off with a yummy cocktail (I can't recall the name, but it was perfection served in a copper cup). Instead of an appetizer, I ordered a delicious wedge salad. For my entree, I chose the featured special of the night: sea bass served over vegetable won tons. Amazing! I tried something sweet afterwards called Fat Pants. I only had a few bites, but it was wonderful. During my meal, I met Jennifer Coco, the chef and owner. What a friendly lady! You can tell she's passionate about delivering a remarkable dining experience. The mgr., Steve, was THE best, too! Go!"
