  • "We had never been here before and decided to spend a pleasant evening out and that is what we had. Our main dishes were fine, nothing outstanding. Their homemade pasta was delicious, but dishes were not particularly mouthwatering. Vegetables were tough and very tart. Grilled seafood tasted too much of the grill and nothing else. Dessert was wonderful-individual flavors and really a treat! Service was outstanding and despite the fact that our main dishes were a little wanting we'll be back to give it another try."

  • "My three girlfriends and I had dinner here at 8:30pm on a Friday. The place was pretty much empty. They served us cold bread, and brought me the wrong meal. We did the wine flight, where we got 3 half glasses of 3 wines, but the staff never cleared the table during the entire meal. We ended up having a very large area of the table taken up by about 10-15 wine glasses. The tab was about $140 for 4 people, so not cheap, I just expected something a little better."

  • "Over the years, we have dined at many restaurants during Restaurant Week and I believe Il Fornaio was the best we have experienced. From the helpful hostess, knowledgeable waiter and attentive table bussers - the whole staff was great. The RW menu had a nice selection of starters, entrees and desserts. Our food was plentiful, delicious and not overcooked like many of the meals we have had during RW (where they offer 2 selections and seem to have precooked all the meals). Il Fornaio was not overbooked, so we were able to have a leisurely dinner, instead of being seated late, quickly served and rushed out like we have been at so many of the restaurants. We brought some friends who are new to the Denver area and they were impressed."

Although we arrived early for a 5:30 reservation and had asked for a booth, the hostess never acknowledged our request and sat us at a table in a back corner room. Mind you, the restaurant was pretty empty at this time. I didn't make a big stink about it, because our table wasn't awful, just not what we'd requested. Also, it took our server almost 1/2 hour to acknowledge we were even there...must have been that back corner room. :("

I’ve dined here before but only for lunch. The price of the dinner meals seemed a bit steep. If the dining room is dirty, what is the kitchen like? I will most likely not return to the restaurant."

Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Overall the meal was close to five stars. If my seafood dish had a little more character it would have gotten the fifth star. Being out of two items ( a wine and dessert) didn't enhance the rating. I thought the prices are fair and the portions good size, not huge but ample by all means. This is one of those restaurants that we always like and is close to home but for some reason we don't seem to frequent often enough. It is a great place to ho and sait at the bar to enjoy an app or two. The bartenders are always great."

  • "Booked for Valentine's since every other normal dining place for us was booked. Quickly got to our table, service was fast and to the point but the place is missing one thing: Good Food. Ordered Ravioli, undercooked. Wife ordered Salmon which was ok but the potato side failed. Desserts are wheeled in on a display table that looks like it was bought from a flea market 10 years ago. Rolling in desserts that have been sitting on the wonky push cart for hours does not appeal to me at all. I guess a personal preference. Overall it was most definitely not worth the $100 we paid for the dinner overall. Experience was about the same you would get in Olive garden, just Olive Garden food is cheaper and better."

  • "My husband and I ate here on Valentine's Day and despite the business of the Holiday, the service was excellent. We absolutely loved the atmosphere especially for a romantic holidy. We were seated at an excellent table by the window and were brought bread quickly. The food came out quickly as well and the server and the busboy were on top of things. We tried their 3 course tasting of Umbria which overall was very good. Though some of the courses were not as amazing as I was expecting. My husband and I tried their 3 flights of wine taking the suggested pairings with each course, however the wine was quite generic and nothing to write home about. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and might return again."

  • "I like to focus strictly on the food, the service was fast, pleasant, etc. The real disappointment was the menu. There was a lot of emphasis placed on the region specific tasting menu and we jumped right on the opportunity to try a sample of 6 different items. Unfortunately just about all of them were on the boarder of flavorless/unappealing and the béchamel cannelloni would have been offensive if only it had more flavor. I'll give credit for the tasty warm bread and the double espresso float for dessert. In the end we spent close to $150 and I can't remember a more flat Italian meal. Value for the dollar was obviously not there but even if I had only spent $75 I still would not be returning to Il Fornaio."
