Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful food. Staff was a little too busy schmoozing other staff to be attentive but otherwise it was perfect."

  • "I came here with my parents and fiancé to celebrate our wedding coming up soon. Overall, we had a great experience at IceHouse. This was my second visit and both times I've had their Brussel Sprouts starter dish. So delicious! Our party of four got to sit out on the patio, and enjoyed our meals a lot. I had the Monkfish, and enjoyed the flavoring and paired things that come with it. My fiancé had the IceHouse burger and raved about it the whole time. My mom really enjoyed the mushroom pot pie with its earthy flavorings. My father was not as thrilled with the subtle flavorings of the Chestnut Gnocchi, but he definitely enjoyed the chocolate bread pudding! Our server was very personable and chatty, and gave good suggestions."

  • "I stopped by the Icehouse for lunch/brunch after visiting the MIA. I'd only been there in the evening before, but I would definitely go back for brunch again. It was busy but not crowded, and they had a guitarist playing on stage, which was very nice. I had a "Bloody Lisa" (vegetarian bloody mary) and the brisket hash, which was quite good. But the most amazing thing was the savory eclair, with pork belly and smoked cheddar. Unbelievably delicious! I would go back just for another one of those!"

  • "The food was over priced for what you got. The chili was $12 and was very watery. The live music and ambience make the restaurant worthwhile "

  • "We go to Ice House frequently celebrations because of the food, the ambiance, and excellent service. The first time we went there to celebrate, we were given cocktails on the house. They don't do that anymore, but we still very much enjoy the friendly staff and indulgent dishes."

  • "My husband and I had been to Icehouse for drinks and appetizers before, but with my dad coming into Minneapolis for my sister's birthday, we decided (among a handful of great restaurants) to pick Icehouse for dinner. Wow, were we impressed. Great service, delicious cocktails ($5 "sipping shots" are the way to go!), and amazing food for reasonable prices. We kept comparing our dishes to what we could get at other top-tier restaurants in the Twin Cities, and they were half the price for more food and flavor. The duck hashbrowns and scallops were delectable, the lamb shank was great, but the winner at the table was the short rib. You left my dad uttering the rest of the night, "That was one of the best meals I've had in 10 years." Thanks!"

  • "Loved having the opportunity to listen to some great music while drinking a great bottle of wine and munching on some wonderful 'nibblins'. :)"

  • "Loved the food - super good menu. So nice to have dinner with live music. Our waiter was terrific with our kid (ages 12 and 16) too. Plus, you gotta love a place with ginger beer."

  • "My wife, an old friend of ours and I had brunch at Ice House last Sunday. We reserved a table for 3 @ 11AM. One of our favorite music combos, TreVeld was playing so we were ready for a enjoyable outing and we weren't disappointed. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, the "Bloody Lisa's" (vegetarian bloody marys) were excellent and the food was exceptional. My wife and our friend got the Brisket Hash and I got the featured Gumbo. Both were memorable for their creative great taste and portion size. We will be back."

  • "Everything was delicious! We went for brunch and it was relatively quiet....we had just missed the childrens show (music and tons of kids). The fancy cocktails were delicious and it was nice to try something new. Our waiter was outstanding."

  • "The title does not say it all. Loved the sipping drinks option! We had the small plates/apps; the serving sizes were good and shareable, if the other persons would allow for that. Everything was beautifully presented, spiced well and palate pleasing. This is a great place, a must return."

  • "We were so excited to get a reservation for Saturday night. Drinks were served and food orders taken then the fun (not) began. The starters came In a timely manner but were cold. The food then took 45 mn to be served after twice being assured by our waiter that they were just coming up. When served they were too not hot or warm. One of our group was brave enough to eat the scallops cold! The highlight of the meal was the salty, caramel macaroons. They were delicious! Funny how they were like ice cream sandwiches but that wasn't mentioned in the menu. Overall this was a disappointing meal and we will not return."

  • "The restaurant is very cool, architecture is great and we love the atmosphere. My steak was excellent, the Monk fish wasn't our favorite. We asked the waiter to suggest a wine to compliment our meals and he nailed it. There was a problem with my drink before dinner and they resolved it immediately without issue. We will definitely go there again."

  • "Very nice resteraunt, went for lunch and everything was great. I had smoked salmon served on rye bread topped with some veggies that was delicious. All the food the others in my party had looked so good as well."

  • "I had a wonderful lunch at the Icehouse last week. Don't know who the chef is but they are very creative and so is the mixologist. Enjoyed the food and ambiance. I will definitely come back."

  • "We love being able to hear live music and order unique, tasty dishes to share. Especially like the wings and gnocci! Will be back!"

  • "Would come back again. I would recommend doing several of the small plates and then ordering main dishes to share family style. Go for an early dinner if you want time to chat. Music starts around 930."

  • "We have always been thrilled with the food, music and ambience at Icehouse. Great music for Sunday brunch along with the best brunch menu in town. Also, Icehouse have a fabulous lunch and dinner menu."

  • "We had heard it was special but we had heard that about other eating/night spots that then proved to be anything but. Having set our bar low we were pleasantly surprised not only with the music, which was delightful, but also with some very exceptional food prepared by an amazing chef who stopped by our table during to introduce himself. Thank you Matt Bickford for a memorable meal."

  • "We went before rock the cradle with two other families. The food and service was great! We love that they always have live music. The music was a good distraction for the four toddlers in our group. We have been before and they do not disappoint. We could only make a reservation for 6 but they pushed the tables together for our group of 10. Six adults four children and one baby. We will definitely be back."

  • "I travel the Midwest and visit local restaurants. Have been there twice and the menu has switched over by design. But the outstanding app Brussel sprouts were still available. Had salmon the first visit, monk fish this time and both were super. And our waitress knew the menu forward and backwards. Will return loved it"

  • "I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. The food was good, though a little spendy for the portion sizes. The drinks were very reasonably priced."

  • "We booked our table for 4 well in advance and got two different calls from staff confirming our reservation, including a request to be "IN" the music room. But, when we arrived, they had our reservation but not "IN" the music room. Boo! But, the plan B offer was to put us up on the balcony "ABOVE" the Music on a coupla couches. What a great alternative! We enjoyed the relaxed vibe of hanging out on couches, had a birds' eye view of the lower level music room, and had good service. The small plates of food to share - and the variety of drinks we ordered came at a normal pace - not too fast (so we didn't feel rushed) and not too slow. An overall relaxing, delicious and pleasant night from the cat bird seat! Thanks."

  • "My friend and I shared the golden beets topped with a cheese souffle and winter squash. Both amazing. I had the au bon canard bbq duck breast . . . excellent. The drinks are inspired and unique, the likes of which you may see as one or two drinks at so many places, but much more extensive here. Two-piece band playing on the stage. The ambience is stylish yet warm and unintimidating. The service was excellent. The best all-around dining experience I've had in a long time."

  • "The food was delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised at how perfect the noise level was--the place felt lively, but in no way loud. I would say "quiet", but that would give the wrong impression. We could have a lovely couple-y conversation. Perfect."
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "We really enjoyed the food. Unusual items, deliciously prepared..Good suggestions from a very well informed waiter. Especially like the winter greens salad, duck, scalloped potatoes, and the mushroom pot pie, truffle crepes.. The service was rather slow. The parking was really bad. Will get in the way of our going back in the winter."

  • "Super low key, sophisticated vibe, with amazing menu selections. From the Beet Salad among other great starters, through to the Lamb Shank... It was just excellent. The only thing to note- when we made our reservation we didn't know there was music starting at 8pm. That was loud and hard to have a conversation with, but we will just make sure to know next time."

  • "Two friends, my husband and I had dinner last Friday at Icehouse, after a stressful week for all. From valet to hostess to wait staff, musicians and chef, we were greeted, seated, soothed, fed, cheered up and relaxed. The drinks calmed our nerves, the food was delicious (mushroom pot pies, gnocci, lamb main courses and shared salads); the bass and accordian players hit the right notes at the right volume; the staff were attentive without being intrusive; and we left fully satisfied and with enough energy to face the slick road home. Thank you."
