Diner Reviews
  • "We bring out-of-town guests up the Tram and for dinner at High Finance. It has never ceased to elicit ooohs and aaahs from our guests, and it is a unique way to make them feel special, and especially welcome to Albuquerque. Reservations recommended!"

  • "It was my sister and I's first trip to New Mexico together so I Googled places to see and things to do. Taking the Sandia Peak tram was at the top of the list. We decided to stay for dinner once we arrived at the top and I'm glad we did. The sunset alone is worth the visit but the superior service and awesome food was a bonus. Our waiter attended to our every need without hovering and offered great recommendations. The chef made his way to our table twice to make sure things were going well. I highly recommend the goat's milk cheesecake for dessert and make sure you take a camera. The vistas are stunning!"

  • "We came to Albuquerque to visit on spring break. We knew we wanted to ride the Sandia Peak Tram. We had been told that High Finance was a great place to go for dinner and sunset views. We checked it out online and found that there was an additional deal of dinner and the tram ride. Even though the menu was limited, our picky eater teenage daughter thought the steak was the best she'd ever had, and the trout was definitely amazing! The food was exceptional, the wait staff excellent and the view incredible! Highly, highly, highly recommend High Finance. Even if we hadn't had a deal, we would have eaten there and undoubtedly had a fabulous dinner experience!"

  • "We had made a reservation to get the discounts offered. The Steak Diane on that special menu was incredibly tough ! The vegetables and potatoes were excellent ! My husband had the Salmon and it was delicious. Also for the very first time did I like Calamari. I have never liked it before in numerous restaurants in various places. It was GOOD !"

  • "The decor is a bit dated, but the food is good and the "exclusive menu" prices and selection was very budget friendly."

  • "Our reservations was for 6:45 on 3/23/14, so we arrived at the tram at about 5:00. Gave us plenty of time for exploring and pictures before dinner. You get a small discount off the tram with reservations. Every table offers a spectacular view and the sunset was a sight to behold. I had the filet mignon which came with sautéed veggies (perfect!) and choice of side. Steak was very good and fork tender (I've had more flavorful, but not with the ambiance around me!). Hubby had shrimp scampi with a generous portion of shrimp and sautéed veggies which he gives two enthusiastic thumbs up!! Our service wasn't the fastest but we didn't care. Server was very pleasant and even tried to find me a phone charger."

  • "Very magical scene, service, and experience. Took my wife there with kids, very accommmodating. We are in our 30s and was a very classy experience in our opinion. Reasonably priced as well. Good menu.Loaded with historical info as well. View at sunset was worth a million dollars. Best date ever."

  • "No one mentioned before we arrived that we would "have to" take a tram up there. I was under the impression it was an option. Nope. 10k feet high, windy and swinging in this little box on a string. Nothing but rock below. I've never been so scared in my life. I actually love adventures and thrill rides, but this was a whole different animal. I suppose skiers are used to it. But its definitely not for the faint of heart. The food and the restaurant as a whole, however, AMAZING! But...build a road or something. Lol. I would have gladly walked down had it not been snowing and I wasn't in heels."

  • "The view was the best thing about this place. The service was very slow. The hostess sat another family when our name was called and when I said it was us, she said she was sorry but that family came up first to claim the table, even though it wasn't their name. The waiter let our champagne sit on the table behind another table he was serving while he opened their bottle of wine. Then, when he did bring our champagne to our table, he had no glasses. The food was overcooked. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Take the ride up, enjoy the view. Restaurant isn't worth the money."

  • "Great evening! Our waiter was exceptional. Chef came out to help select our dinner and followed up afterwards. On our bucket list to ride the tram to the top of Sandia Peak, this exceptional dinner was the perfect icing on the cake."

  • "Not worth a trip up the tram. Put a place like Pranzo up there and it would be worthwhile."

  • "We had our first celebratory dinner in Albuquerque at High Finance and it was worth the tram ride and wait. We dined at a casual rate with before dinner drinks, starters, full meat (bacon wrapped pork loin and steak) course and wine for two at $100. Service (John) was very attentive yet not too chatty and the food was wonderful. I intend to take visitors here to enjoy the food and the view."

  • "We were unable to use this reservation, due to the Tram being closed for high winds. However we did change it to Sandiago's Mexican Grille."

  • "High Finance Restaurant has a reputation for being a "special occasion" destination. Food and service reviews were bad but I booked a reservation anyway because we had out of town guests. We wanted to enjoy the view and there is NOTHING else to do at the top of the mountain after riding the Tram. We had a front and center window view of the city below. It was mostly blocked by the deck walkway. As soon as we told our server we were only having drinks and appetizers we got the eye roll and attitude. We ordered 5 appetizers and several alcoholic beverages. Drink refills were hard to come by. Water tasted like dirt. The bathrooms were dirty and smelled like sewage. They monopolize the mountain and provide accordingly."

  • "Don't get me wrong, not BAD experience but if restaurant wasn't perched atop mountain w/ most amazing views, this review may have gone down differently. I mean, it is novelty of eating/drinking @ 10k ft elevation, looking @ city lights below, desert vistas, etc... that really sells this place, right? My bf & I wanted to see sunset on tram, but our reservations weren't until 7pm, 1 hr later. We figured we'd drink @ bar until table ready (February & snowing outside); actually, host stated they'd seat us right away, NICE. However, no one may have informed our server, as we sat there (empty glasses, mind you) for a WHILE. When finally served, staff was pleasant, food pretty tasty, drink selection limited but hey- we ARE on a mountaintop!"

  • "If you are looking for something fun and different to do, give this a try. You will ride the longest tramway in the world up to the peak of Sandia Mountain. It is a smooth ride with breathtaking views, especially at sunset. The restaurant only has views of the sunset and Albuquerque. You can leave your table to go outside and grab those beautiful pics. The menu is vegetarian friendly, has tasty options, but is a little limited. Prices are a wee high, but maybe that includes the transportation to get the food up there. Great for visitors, special occasions, first dates, impressing someone, or just because you know it will be an awesome sunset."

  • "The ride up, the views, the service and the food were all excellent! When my wife and I return to Albuquerque in the future, this will definitely be on the itinerary. I will definitely recommend the High Finance Restaurant and the Tram ride to all my friends traveling to the Albuquerque area."

  • "The only down side was mediocre service. Waiter was very friendly but forgot things that were little in comparison to average restaurants but when your dropping over $100 on dinner, I kind of expect the service to be top notch. But that's just me."

  • "The filet was so great. Medium well and it melts in your mouth like butter! Mashed potatoes were awesome and so were the vegitables. The view is the best part of it all. Very romantic."

  • "The restaurant has a beautiful view and the service is excellent overall. Make sure you wear warm clothes even if the temperature is warm in Albuquerque due to the elevation difference. The tram at night is a beautiful ride with spectacular views of the city."

  • "The views are wonderful. The food was fair to medium, and the prices were high. I wouldn't mind paying high prices for good food. I guess you're paying for views, which should be an upfront charge and the food priced right. Or improve quality of food."

  • "My girlfriend and I wanted to tour the tramway and decided to make reservations at High Finance. While on the website we found a special deal with a $25 dollar dinner menu with coupon (includes salad, entree, and dessert) and a discount for the tram ride. The food was great, she had the sirloin and I had the salmon. Overall the experience was great except that it was snowing badly at the peak and we could not see anything through the restaurants large windows but would otherwise be an excellent view of the city. The tram ride is a great experience to share with a loved one and would recommend for a great date."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our evening on top of the mountain. We arrived a little early for our reservation but were immediately shown to a table in front of a window. Everything possibly was done to make us comfortable, we were encouraged to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset. The meal was good although they were out of the "filet" that one of our party had hoped to enjoy. The very warm, excellent service made up for it though. We shared delicious blueberry cream cake after dinner which was outstanding. It was a great evening in a beautiful spot!"

  • "Taking the Sandia Tram ride up to the High Finance Restaurant and then enjoying the fine dining and colorful sunset view was a grand way to celebrate our friend's 65th birthday. The food was delicious....we split a stack of portabello mushrooms and veggies on bed of risotto and our friend had green chili stew followed by a lemon berry (birthday) cake. We were aptly served by our waiter who we nicknamed, Lawrence of Sandia. Though it was cold and windy outside the beautiful wood decor of the restaurant created a warm cozy environment. We would certainly repeat the experience if in the area."

  • "We live in NM and came to ABQ to meet a friend visiting from WI. We took the tram to the restaurant, and the tram trip in combination with the meal was a great experience. We had a great seat for our meal so we could watch the sunset and see the city lights. Our waiter was very polite and service was very good. However, I found their wine list a little lacking and wish they had better water service. Great food options: we ordered the Filet (Oscar style), Bone-in Pork Chop, and Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin as our meals. All dishes were excellent. We also had dessert, which we picked from a tray of all options, and it was very good as well. Overall, this is a great place to dine, all though it would be expensive for a regular spot."
