Harry's RestaurantSpecial Anniversary DinnerWe came to Harry's for our 29th anniversary dinner for several reasons:
We had heard Harry's was a great place to dine and would be a special place for a special event.
We met and dated at KSU and love Manhattan.
My parents both grew up in Manhattan and my dad's father worked for the Wareham Families - in a career delivering ice for the ice house, and also as a personal nurse attendant for Harry Pratt Wareham in his final years when he lived in the penthouse of the Wareham Hotel following a stroke. My dad and his two brothers also worked at the ice house as teens.
Our dinner was wonderful - best beef ever! Amanda, our server, was very sweet and attentive. The atmosphere was a step back in time. I live in the Kansas City metro and it is as good as any restaurant in this city! I had the Filet Mignon Royale and my Husband the prime rib. Presentation was great! We both got the "small" portion of our selected meals. There was more than enough food to fill us up and we have hardy appetites. The food was very flavorful. The meat was melt in your mouth delicious and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was always on the ball and we never had to ask for anything. A dinner for 2 is easily over $100 and the selection of drinks can bring it up even higher. Next time we make reservations we are going to ask for a two person table near the windows. The booth we were in was a little difficult to get in and out of. Food was excellent. Had everything from Bruchetta, salads, soup, prime rib, duck, salmon, Kobe flat steak, kids meals. All 13 meals were eaten in full. No one went away hungry and all meals were cooked as ordered. There were 5 in our party, and I knew that this would be a local favorite and very busy place during KSU's graduation weekend. Our reservations were made well ahead of time (thankfully) and we were able to secure an early dining time (5:00 p.m.). While there were some empty tables when we arrived, they filled up pretty quickly. I had high expectations, and was not disappointed. The service was excellent. The food was extraordinary. The venue very special. It was a perfect dining experience and I definitely recommend Harry's for any special occasion or visit to Manhattan, KS - the Little Apple.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA gemWith all the dinning choices in Manhattan, Harry's is easily number one. Great selection of wine and food. The atmosphere is great for a romantic evening, business dinner or dinner with friends. Service that is top notch. There is no other restaurant I would want to go to for special occasions. My daughter is at KState and we wanted to try the historic restaurant and see the hotel. We loved it, food was good, service very good, we will be back again. They hire kids from Kansas State University to wait tables. I'm always amazed on how well they are trained.
I've tried most things on their menu. Each has its own special flavors that wake up the taste buds. Good stuff.
I recently brought in a friend from Wisconsin. He's a chef who use to own a restaurant. We had tried other nice restaurants in the area, but were not that impressed with the quality of food. However, we were quite pleased with Harry's. The seafood extravaganza was delicious! We have both haven't had seafood in some time, so it was a great treat. The kobe burger was AMAZING! Service was great. Everyone was friendly and attentive. We were there for an early dinner on Saturday. We changed our reservations twice and they were accomodating. The service was great and attentive, but not intrusive. The food was some of the best we have had. We had the prime rib.and our friends had the special and the fillet.
