It was our daughters first time and they love it and now know why my wife and I call the Hanover Street Chop House our favorite restaurant. The food and service were outstanding as always and we can wait till our next visit.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining with one exceptionEverything about this restaurant is exceptional and excellent and always a consistent positive dining experience. That being said, one's expectations of superlative food and service are always extremely high which may sometimes cause a less than favorable reaction when a particular dish falls short of those expectations. Such was the case with the Mother's Day "leg of lamb" special which though highly touted proved to lack tenderness and superior meat quality. The chewiness and texture of the meat proved to be a disappointment when both cutting a portion or attempting to eat and swallow.
Based on the usual hight standards for such an offering, I would be reluctant to reorder this dish. An outstanding steakhouse in downtown Manchester, NH. As good as any of the big players in Boston without the stuffy and often loud businessmen ambiance. Wonderful service from our waiter Richard. Manager/Chef Stuart made us feel very welcome - as if we were old friends. Pricy but we still highly recommend it for a special occasion or no occasion at all! I wish the restaurant was closer so that we can dine there more often. Our waiter was phenomenal and the food was great from the appetizers to the dessert. I had the surf and turf. My tenderloin was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the special, the tomahawk steak. It was like nothing we had ever seen before. My boyfriend is a bit picky with restaurants and said that was the best steak he has ever had and we dine out often and have been to most of the big steak houses. Between the food (we all had oysters before dinner on this visit) the exceptional service and the comfortable setting it was once again the perfect choice in Manchester to entertain guests. A 6pm reservation on a Thursday night is impossible to come by-book ahead if you can. There were a number of large tables of executives (men in ties) enjoying themselves. It's the same theory you use when trying to find a good diner-follow a truck driver. If you are looking for a good fine dining restaurant -follow the guys with a large expense account. On this night, the amuse was lamb sausage with a goat cheese fondue and red wine Demi glacé accompanied by a puff pastry. Hands down phenomenal! Should be added to the menu!! As usual, steaks were cooked to perfection and the NY prime competes with the best of the best. A heavy hitter to start is the scallops wrapped with bacon! Great combination of pineapple salsa with a tomato purée or relish. The distinct combination of the two is perfect with the scallops and bacon. Really brings out the flavors and textures. We were running late due to late start out and heavy traffic due to venue at the Verizon Center that is just 4 blocks away. I called and let them know we were running late and to hold our table...we ended up being 35 minutes late. Our table was ready when we arrived, and just to add to the confusion there was another party of 2 with the same name-and our name is not common. Food, wine, service and ambiance were all excellent. We would both recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a good steak with a great wine! Excellent restaurant for that special evening or event! The new Fish Friday menu is wonderful. I had the baked oyster appetizer - excellent! On a previous Fish Friday I had Lobster Newburg entree on puff pastry shell - outstanding. My husband is hooked on the roasted beet salad and surf and turf entree. We always sit near the kitchen to enjoy watching the chefs at work. The executive chef usually comes over to our table to ask for feedback. Servers are very professional. I haven't had food that good since we went to American Seasons on Nantucket. The fried calamari had a delicious, light batter and the lemon, parmesan, and pepperocinis added delightful layers of flavor. My filet with truffle butter was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The sides were flavorful without overwhelming the steak. The service was perfectly paced; not hurried but no unnecessary waiting either. We finished with creme brulee that was unbelieveably delicious. Went there with couple of friends just to try a new place for dinner, we all loved the atmosphere and the food- 2 had prime rib, which they said was outstanding. I had the New York Strip Steak-Med Rare-the best steak I have ever eaten. Moderate background noise is not a complaint-I like a little background-it suggests people are really enjoying themselves as we were. It is one of the finest dining experiences in Manchester. The meal was cooked to order just as requested. We have been several times, but left thinking that we should dine in more often because of the superb quality of the cuisine and atmosphere. Neil was an excellent host guiding us through our gastronomic journey at Hanover Chophouse. We would highly recommend to our friends and family trying the Hanover Chophose for themselves. I would highly recommend the hand rubbed,aged 24oz cowboy steak;a beef lovers paradise. Thank you Hanover Chophouse.

We had the bacon wrapped scallops and the lobster cocktail for apps, there was 4 scallops and they were cooked perfectly. The lobster cocktail consisted of claw meat only, sliced thin, and was very good. i had the cowboy rib eye, 24 oz. and it was large, on the bone, and cooked perfectly. My girl had the filet with truffle butter, and it too was melt in your mouth delicious. Our server was neil, and he was personable and quick. For dessert we had the creme brulee and it was awesome.
