Diner Reviews
  • "Food was some of the best we had. View at sunset was awesome. Wait staff didn't rate so good but didn't detract from the others. "

  • "After having some very good meals on Oahu and Maui, we received a suggestion to try Gannons. Very glad we did. The combination of scenery (would recommend a sunset seating), service, and food was outstanding. The best dining experince we had over the two-weeks in Hawaii. "

  • "I have been coming to this restaurant every time I am in wailea since my first visit in 1996 when it was sea watch. This was by far the absolute worst meal I have ever had here. Service was awful (and the place was empty on a Saturday night). Salad was over dressed, dinner was over cooked, who wants to pay $44 for a dry piece of mahi mahi? Come on bev, get it together"

  • "The rib eye steak was delicious, as was the raw raw salad amazing,"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner, all three courses. The lobster bisque was delicious, we wish we'd ordered two bowls. I had scallops served over lobster risotto, the risotto could have been an entree itself. My wife had cashew crusted mahi mahi and loved it. Both dishes were served hot on hot plates, something we don't find at most restaurants. Service was great. Only two minuses, the bar couldn't make a Vesper and no sidewalk - we walked from condos nearby and the last 1/4 mile we had to walk in the street or in the grass."

  • "We waited 15 minutes until our waiter came to apologize for being busy. He returned about 5 minutes later to take our drink order. The menu is smaller than we remembered & not as inspired. The view is great. Wish we had better news to report."

  • "The food was very good and watching the sunset made it a very special evening. We will definitely be back."

  • "The dinner at Gannon's was generally excellent: Outstanding specials, appetizers and main courses, in a superb setting. Service was good, not great. The support staff (clearing tables, filling water, etc.) seemed a bit inexperienced."

  • "We were greeted nicely by the hostesses and escorted to a well situated table for the 6 of us. Menus and wine list arrived shortly thereafter and the waiter skillfully described the daily specials in detail. To that point the service level matched the expectations that come with a nice property and high end prices. Regrettably after that, the various waiters' performance was unskilled and very slow. I asked for a private word with our main waiter about it and was told that they were unusually busy and short staffed. There was no mention of compensating us. Only one person at our table had ordered dessert, so it would have been easy to deduct that item from the bill as a gesture but that did not happen."

  • "Not much ambience No view after dark Go for lunch. Not dinner"

  • "Loved this restaurant when it was The SeaWatch. Happy hour? INSIDE. Food? Not that great of pub food: my steamed clams had half of the clams missing. Food outside? Didn't quite match up the food-sylists' pics in the Maui magazine. Ok, not at all. Outside is spectacular. Views of islands and oceans for miles. Beautiful. And that's why I'm giving a 3 star rating. Chef: there are a LOT of great restaurants within a one-mile radius; respectfully suggest an updated, fresher, and locavore menu. None of the almond crusted fish....so 1980's. pricey for average food. GREAT location."

  • "Great food, ambience and service. No visit to Wailea is complete without an evening at Gannon's!"

  • "Gannon's is in a lovely setting. Food is very good but does not quite get to the gourmet level it aspires to achieve."

  • "Gannon's once again repeated a superb experience. Delightful food, fabulous service, great sunset view...all conspiring to make it a memorable evening. Be sure to make early reservations to enjoy the sights and sunset. Save room for dinner. Crab lobster appetizer tower needs to be shared otherwise you will be overloaded for desert. Ahi tune served perfectly seared on the outside, good sized serving. Ah the desert with great cappuccino. Hazelnut gnash, wow!"

  • "The food and ambience was fantastic, as usual. We come to this restaurant every time we visit Maui. Our only complaint was the rather aloof service provided by our server, Scott. He was attentive but seemed to have rather been elsewhere. Will we come back the next time we're here? Definitely!!!!!"

  • "The location is great with an ocean view that excels until darkness takes that away. The food was good, but the outdoor setting was distracted by bugs. The bugs constantly flew overhead and repeatedly landed into or onto our food plates. It seems no effort has been put into minimizing these invasive guests. I believe a restaurant that charges those prices would not want guests constantly swatting away bugs, or removing them from a food plate. I was impressed when my dining guest suggested a simple desert. The desert was created, even though not on the menu."

  • "While the food is amazing and the view is incredible, the dining room lacks energy and ambiance."

  • "Bev Gannon's restaurant overlooking the ocean in Wailea is the most romantic restaurant on Maui! I have been there many times, and took my wedding party there last week. As always, the service and food were excellent. If you go before sunset, you will see a wonderful scene, as the sun sets over Lanai'i."

  • "No special features for that day (no tablecloth on our table/no candle, no special menu) and waiter would be better fit serving at a funeral home!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Had our Christmas party here. Except for the fact the view and location was beautiful, the food was okay for fine dining and the drinks were like drinking too strong, and I've had better desserts."

  • "My husband and I spent 10 days in Maui where we stayed in Wailea. After eating at other notable high-end restaurants such as Morimoto's, Nick's Fish Market and Humuhumu, we returned to Gannon's twice. It was by far the best food and service we found. It far exceeded all of the other restaurants we attended. We would not hesitate to return."

  • "What's not to say. Great view, food, service; when served with great company, what's not to love? WE are annual visitors and Gannon's is always a highlight and must. Mahalo. Jimbo"

  • "We have eaten at Gannon's several times over the years and it is always one of our favorites in the Wailea area. Like many of the up-scale restaurants in this area, it is pricey, but the food is always delicious. It is a beautiful facility with great service. We highly recommend Gannon's for a great meal."

  • "Sat outside on the lanai. Beautiful view. My mahimahi was very hot, but my husbands shortribs were lukewarm. It was happy hour in the bar & the noise really carried outside. Felt a bit rushed."
    Dined on 2/12/2014
  • "Food was OK service was good. But you rushed us !!! First plate came and we had not even had time to Enjoy our drink. Just finish or first plate and the main course was there. Way to rushed in and out in 30 minutes should have some time to enjoy our food"
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "We had 7:45 pm reservations and were so surprised to see the restaurant shutting down before we had finished eating. The waiters were clearing the tables and removing candles, salt pepper shakers etc. We certainly did not feel comfortable keeping them there to order coffees or desserts so we left when our entree was finished. This was our biggest restaurant mistake/disappointment of our month on Maui. We will not return. There are many other wonderful welcoming restaurants. Closing at 8:30 is unacceptable as is being rushed to complete our meal."

  • "While we are on Maui, Gannon's is a must! We first tried it last year, and loved it! The staff are all very knowledgeable and extremely curteous. Food is always fabulous!"

  • "Third of our three dinners at Gannon's on our recent trip. Superb food, service, and ambience on every visit. Expensive, though not extremely so for the area, but outstanding value for the cost, especially compared some other big names."

  • "There is nothing negative to say about the restaurant, food or service. Everything was excellent and our small party of three had a fabulous time. When we are in Maui again, we will definitely dine at Gannon's."
    Dined on 2/6/2014
  • "We really enjoy investing our time and money in high quality dinning experiences. A return visit here (or the other company locations, Joes and General Store), simply have not provided a reasonable return on our investment. Locations are interesting (good leverage for them), but service, ingredients', creativity, execution, and delivery, are just not up to par with other equivalent price offerings on Maui."

  • "This is a beautiful spot for an outdoor lunch or brunch. Service was slow, but we were watching whales, and not in a rush! Some confusion about our reservation. Evidently they don't take them for lunch for parties less than 5."

  • "The only thing I enjoyed here was the nice sunset view over looking golf course. Food was slightly below average...fish was dry, ravioli was super-salty. Appetizers were decent (clams). Caesar salad was equivalent to McDonald's but we paid around $12. Their soup was the worse I've ever had and that was about $16...I honestly prefer Canned soup. I tried everything my family ordered and the only "good" dish was the clams appetizer. Service was decent...wish it was better because I come to Maui almost every year and tend to go back to the restaurants that I like. Unfortunately, I will probably never be back to this restaurant."

  • "Maybe our expectations got the better of us, but no one in our group of six was over impressed. It was good, but not sure the food matched the price point. We have experienced better meals at other Maui restaurants."

  • "This was our second year visiting Gannon's . We had a great experience last year. This year wasn't quite as good. Our server wasn't as attentive as he should have been. We had to ask for bread twice. The food was okay. On the next day we had breakfast which was very delicious and the service was much, much better. We plan to have lunch after golf as my husband loves the hot dig."

  • "Bev Gannon is synonymous with great food on Maui. Our meal at Gannon's was no exception. The food was the best I've had on Maui. I had the Fennel Crusted Ahi and the Ahi was cooked to perfection. The sauce and other items lending flavor were perfect. Every bite was a delight. The sunset view was also spectacular! This dinner was truly a treat!"

  • "Service was not great. Talked with one of the managers who noted they were short staffed that evening, but still the service was lacking. Not as good as we were expecting. Food was good, but the poor service made it less so."
