  • "When we were complete and I proffered my VISA card ,it was rejected. Why because it was issued in the UK and unlike the majority of dealers their approval of credit cards does not allow their system to dial overseas approval numbers. So where does this leave the customer. Luckily for US travellers the same does not apply to European restaurants etc."

  • "I have been going to Gabriel"s every few weeks since it opened almost 20 years ago. I lived in a rural area near the restaurant and it was the one and only place in "the neighborhood". Population has increased since then, and it still remains the best in the area. Many of the employees have worked there since its beginning. Their custom made guacamole is the best."

  • "This was our first time visiting Gabriel's and we were not disappointed. I ordered the steak fajitas and my husband ordered the 3 item combination platter. The food quality was outstanding and the ambiance very nice. The most memorable, however, were the sopapillas. They were light, fluffy, and had amazing flavor - by far, the best I've had in New Mexico! We will definitely return!"

  • "Gabriel's offered it's usual attentive service and quiet ambience. But this visit was special … it was my friend's birthday and I needed an electrical outlet to show her what was stored on her gift (a digital item). I used the "special request" area on the Open Table reservation to ask for a table by an outlet, and Gabriel's made sure it happened. We had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed both the meal and the ambience. Thank you!"

  • "Having lived in New Mexico for 14 years, I've tried plenty of the restaurants this state has to offer. Gabriel's is by far my favorite. They are a lovely place to go for dinner on a special occasion or just for a nice night out. They have consistently delicious food, and their guacamole (made fresh at the table) is the best you'll find in the state. They have a variety of New Mexican staples as well as some Mexican favorites. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. They have all of the desserts you would expect to find at a Mexican restaurant (flan, tres leches, churros) and they are all flavorful and traditional. Gabriel's is a bit pricey, but it is completely worth it."

  • "We try to fit in a dinner at Gabriel's every time we visit family in the area (we have lived in PA and VA for the past 25 years). This time it was New Year's Eve, and the food was very good as usual, from the Guacamole prepared to order tableside through dessert. The Sangria that night was the best we have ever had."

  • "We went to dinner New Year's Eve, NOT Monday. We like eating at Gabriel's, we go there because its closer then Santa Fe and less pretentious. I did notice that the menus and chairs need replacing. I had the ribs and my wife had the carnitas. I was not in the mood for Mexican fair. HOWEVER, the charo beans were over salted good, but saltier then I'm used to."

  • "The food was great but the server was terrible! He did not come back to the table to see if we needed anything. When he took our order he was looking across the room watching another party. We felt we were an inconvenience to the server and we're the paying customer. He did not even offer water with the drinks and meal. We'll go back because the food was good but next time we will ask for another server if we have that kind of service!"

  • ""I like the layout of the restaurant - I like the flow of the main dining room. I have my favorites dishes, especially the tableside guacamole. But we did notice that the serving size has shrunken. I ordered the chili stew, it was saltier then I am accustomed too. Must have been the last, thou, the stew had an over-abundance of chili stems and seeds. Service was well-timed, friendly, and recognizable. We like knowing who may be waiting on us."

  • "Start with the Guacamole made at the table. Enjoy the Plato de Carnitas and take the leftovers home for a second meal. Fajitas, Fish Tacos, and Enchiladas are all good. A margarita on the rocks is always a good compliment. I never seem to have room for desert. It's a good place to bring a friend to celebrate their birthday. Service is always friendly and prompt."

  • "This is the second time we dine at Gabriel's. On the first occasion I tried the Chili rellenos. The poblano chilis tasted as if I was eating grass. I sent it back and asked for something basic, tacos. On this last occasion I tried the puerto vallarta. This dish is a mixture of crab, shrimp, and chicken in a tomato sauce. It was bland at best. I generally do not add salt to my food and actually chose to add some in order to try and salvage the dish. It did not help. I felt bad sending the food back this time since my girlfriend has chosen to dine here both times. The ambience is nice. Though not for a romantic dinner. It can become crowded and the noise level is mid to high range. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating."
