  • "Food, Service And Ambience Were Terrific! I Hate Hate Green Beans And I Managed To Even Choke Down A Few. This Means They Were Probably Fantastic If You Like Such Things. Nothing There Is Ever Bad.! Fixed Price Special Menu Option Very Reasonable. But Then, So Is Everything Else On The Menu."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a great late dinner last week at Frank Fat's. The food was outstanding and the service even better. We wanted to try a couple of spicy dishes but asked to have them mild, the waiter said no problem. When the food arrive, it was perfect, just the right amount of spice as we requested. Very enjoyable. Kung pow chicken and their special fried rice are highly recommended as well as their honey walnut shrimp. The banana cream pie was off the hook!"

  • "This is one of the few Chinese restaurants in the United States that serves a reasonable version of Peking Duck."

  • "When our Cruzin' Buddies from Apple Valley and Placerville were in Sacramento, we knew we wanted to meet them at Frank Fats for drinks and dinner. We three couples met on a Saturday night and enjoyed our delicious food and wonderful visit. We requested one of the booths in the back of the restaurant so we could have a quiet area where we could catch up with one another's adventures, and we were pleased that they could accommodate this request through our Open Table communication. Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant. We enjoy our evening very much. It was nice to see "our" bartender was working that evening as well. Thank you."

  • "We loved walking into Frank Fats. We have eaten at Fats in Roseville many times and it is one of our favorites. At first the place seemed similar, great decor, great ambiance, a large comfortable booth for our group where we could sit for hours without feeling any pressure. The waiter was great, excellent service. But the food was not good. The hot and sour soup seemed like corn starch with water and soy sauce. Pretty tasteless. The BBQ pork with vegetables had canned bean sprouts rather than fresh. The Buddha's delight was good, but was really the only good thing we had. In general all the food was bland and boring. Nothing very exciting at all. I was quite disappointed. I would not recommend it nor would I go back."

  • "I decided to take a co-worker to Frank Fat's to celebrate her birthday. We both really enjoyed the food and the service was good. She was given a free piece of banana cream pie for her birthday."

  • "The dinner was just perfect. The entrees could have been a little warmer. Parking is inexpensive and is right next door. This is the perfect Sacramento restaurant. You always feel special going there--like a part of a decades old tradition."

  • "Seated promptly with a reservation. Waitress was friendly and attentive. The food left a lot to be desired though especially for the price. The hot and sour soup had little flavor and absolutely no spice to it (and I have a very low tolerance for spicy foods) and the cashew chicken was medallions of bland, mushy chicken with a sprinkling of cashews. The combo plate and chicken salad weren't bad but nothing to write home about. In short I wasn't impressed especially since the tab for that and a glass of wine came out to $74."

  • "Frank Fat's is a place we save for special occasions. Definitely pricey, but worth it. The food is consistently delicious and I have yet to have to have something I don't like there. They are also known for their banana cream pie, which is pretty good. Overall, it's a place you just can't go wrong in."

  • "Great restaurant in Old Town Sacramento-an old time favorite restaurant of the Fat family. Food is exceptionally good, with very good service and lovely ambience. Try the delicious Firecracker Beef and not to miss their outstanding banana cream pie made on the premises. Location is good-a few blocks from The Capitol and there is a parking garage right next door."

  • "The calamari was the best I've eaten in a very long time. If you like Chinese food, you will love Frank Fat's. For those who want a real rib eye steak, I wouldn't recommend Frank Fat's. My fiance ordered what he thought was a rib eye steak. (you know, what you'd get a steakhouse). The waiter looked at him oddly when my fiance said, "I'd like my steak cooked medium, and I'll cut it up myself." :)"

  • "We were really looking forward to going to Frank Fat's, but found it to be underwhelming. We had appetizers and 3 dishes for dinner. The food was ok, especially considering the price. It was a little on the greasy side, granted it is deep fried or stir fried, but still a little too oily. The service was a little late in getting started with our table but after that, very good. We sat in the first dining area beyond the bar and it was cold in that room and the wait staff foot traffic was busy, which impacted the ambiance. I think they are riding on a long standing reputation that was once well deserved, but now, I would say not so much. For the price, I would go to one of the Fat's in Folsom or Roseville."

  • "Each dish that we had was excellent, the Honey Walnut Prawns were OUT OF THIS WORLD! Booth table was ideal, the restaurant was very busy but we didn't even notice. Food took a little longer than we antcipated but worth the wait."

  • "Beat the crowd on Valentines day but not sure we got the best impression of the place that way. The food was delicious. We got veggie spring rolls, a plate of immigrants beef, the cashew chicken, and a plate of young shew fried rice. We have no complaints, but for the price we were not impressed. I feel like you can get the same food at another Asian restaurant for a better price. Our server was great, even though I can't remember his name! He seemed to be the jack of all trades, bartender/waiter/host."

  • "Been to fats multiple times with family. Took my fiance for her time at fats... And she loved it... Salt and pepper calamari was to die for and our entrees where amazing to boot. She has the honey walnut prawns and there was none left. I had the Cashew chicken and I was amazing didn't have any left overs. Will return :-)"

  • "We were seated right away when we arrived spot for our reservations, a nice way to start the evening. We enjoyed two of the house specialties on Tuesday: Peking duck and honey walnut prawns. Both were done to perfection, despite the very crowded house. We also tried the Canton shrimp which was a light and tasteful appetizer preceding the entrees. We were impressed with the great service despite the crowd. Our only complaint was the noise level - the room design just doesn't absorb all the sound - not the worst we've experienced but not the best. In all, however, we will definitely return since we love the food here, the prices are reasonable and the servers are always top drawer."

  • "Frank Fats never fails to impress. We've been going there for 50+ years. It's always at the top of the list. Good food...no, not good, EXCELLENT! The same can be said for their service, their attention to detail...and, of course, their banana cream pie! Thanks for a wonderful evening."

  • "Chinese good should not take that long. It took us over 45minutes to serve our manin dishes and the waiter was ok but if your trying to be an upscale Chinese restaurant step up your game and don't just minimize your food portions. Taste if food was good but not sure if it was worth the price? I paid for dine downtown and I still don't think it was worth that price."

  • "We've been meaning to eat here for ages and finally got around to it (thanks to Costco). The place was pretty empty but hey seated us right next to a large party that was eating a wild duck dinner (I guess they're hunters) and being really loud. That's fine and I've been in plenty of big groups so I know they can get loud. But the restaurant manager (owner?) came out and shouted with them for about 20 minutes. He was being friendly but his voice was ridiculously loud, so loud we couldn't hear our own conversation. Then they started in on Obamacare and how much they hate the president and his family and his Hawaiian vacations.... blah, blah. Ruined it for me. I'm sorry but that's all I remember. The food was good I think."

  • "Menu is almost same one (1 ingredient different) from Fat's Tuesday & Thursday night $25 special. More than ample servings resulted in watching everyone leave with paper containers. As always, each dish tastes like it's been prepared by an executive chef using the best of ingredients and techniques. Puts local Chinese dives to shame!! Plus you get to order a really good wine to go with it!"
