  • "Restaurant was very slow, only maybe four or five tables. Ordered a second glass of wine to finish my meal. Waitress ignored us until I finally went to the bar myself because I saw my wine sitting there. Later she said, "I see your wine made it to the table". I have had good meals here, but the service is hit and miss."

  • "Was here for Father's Day brunch. Their special included BBQ, live music, and use of their pool. The food was good and I expected no less. You can rarely go wrong with BBQ ribs, chicken, salmon, etc. The organization and service was not that good. They were still setting up the buffet at 11:20, when the event started at 11. When you have 3 kids, 20 minutes might as well be an hour. Our waitress had no clue on scheduled activities. She guesses there was a buffet, but wasn't sure. She had to check. When paying our bill, she never returned to our table. I had to go inside where she was serving drinks at the bar. The other waitress who was outside couldn't take our bill. Pool changing room was locked. Had to go inside to change."

Service was terrible once inside we sat down and waited for a server to give instruction and take our drink order but after waiting 10 minutes finally asked a server that kept walking by for some drinks and then she got someone who was barely available."

  • "Poor service. After we were seated, no one came to offer water or to take our order for at least five minutes. I wanted to move to a different table and finally had to go tell the hostess. She said we would have to wait for another five minutes or so as they had no tables at that time. We left and did not eat there. Will not return to this restaurant."

  • "I ordered the prime rib dinner and it was perfectly rare and delicious. I enjoyed the buffet and the salad selection and gorged myself on the various greek and italian cheeses. The Romaine lettuce was fresh for an impressive Ceasar salad. I dabbed the grilled zucchini and yellow squash with the table's olive oil and balsamic vinegar using the table bread. All the while enjoying a complimentary glass of Cabernet (the vintners I do not know). The beef was served with au jus and mild horseradish along side of a sauteed greenbean and asparagus medley. Accompanied by side by side potato and corn mashes. The waitress was very attentive and she let me take home all the desserts that I could fit in a to-go container. Very nice... very nice indeed!"

  • "My chicken cacciatore was thin, overcooked and dry. The fish was excellent. However, the vodka sauce on the pasta was thin and watery, not thick and creamy. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. A very good Pinot Noir."

  • "I had a surprise birthday celebration, a few lunches and dinners there during the Labor Day weekend onslaught of hungry jazz fans. The restaurant did a wonderful job of management and timely service. Vegetables and salad ingredients were fresh. Their excellent hand-made, oven-fired pizza is only available for dinner. Good prices on their wine lists. The decor was very inviting and upscale yet comfortable and welcoming. Their shady Trellis area with ceiling fans and lovely vines overhead, is a great place to relax enjoy a few drinks. I had no idea that such a pleasant hotel and restaurant existed in Rancho Cordova!"

  • "Pretty decent overall experience. Our server seated us immediately on arrival and told us about the specials. We ordered a mid priced cab that was pretty good for the price point. We started with a warmed goat cheese with marinara, a very pleasant and light way to begin. We then shared a vegetable and wild mushroom risotto, a lamb special and a pizza. All food was decent, but maybe just a little short of really good but still decent. Our server did an excellent job and we left happy. Bring quality up a tad or the prices down some and it would be a four star review."

As a matter of fact, the size was the same as the OSF which costs half as much. So this price per size is normal for a hotel restaurant. Overall it was a good dinner and I would go back."

  • "After reading the panning by the Bee reviewer we came over with a bit of trepidation yet overall pleasantly surprised by this hotel setting. Most important, the food was fresh, including fish and shellfish. The ambience is quite pleasant, wines by glass or bottle reasonable and ample. All of our dishes were well prepared and satisfying: seafood linquine, grilled salmon, braised chicken cacciatore style. Entre's are a bit pricey, to be expected at a hotel, yet portions were generous. We will definitely return. I forgot to mention, take a table near the pizza oven and watch this guy toss it NY style."

  • "Best and Highest quality food for area for area. I am a foodie and most restaurants are not as good. Meats and fish grilled perfectly. Pretty darn good for hotel food. Recommend the hanger steak salad, grilled salmon, NY steak or some of the pastas. Great vegetarian options and chef very accommodating! Everything consistently good and wait staff, Cathy, Sean, Zac and others who have been there are great..great bar tenders as well! My go -to when I travel there for work. Dessert menu is ok."

  • "A friend and I had dinner there. We both liked our Caesar salad. However, neither of us thought our main entree was very good. I had the breaded fish, and there was a butter sauce all over the plate which made it very rich. My friend had a pasta dish and it was only "so so". Both of us went with entrees recommended by our waitress because I had recently seen the undesirable review in the Bee, and we hoped to avoid his experience. I had the chocolate dessert which was encased in filo dough, I believe it was. Unfortunately, I didn't think that was very good either. Our waitress was very friendly and did a good job with serving us."

  • "The ambiance was good, however our waitress was not. She repeated our orders several times and couldn't remember who ordered what item when she delivered our plates. (There were 4 of us.) When pouring water she spilled on the menu and did not make any effort to clean it up. After delivering our meals she did not check back in with us. There was one other table with two customers, so the restaurant was not busy. We waited 15 minutes before dessert was brought to the table....it was one piece of cheese cake w/four forks."

  • "We sat outside which was a mistake. The adjacent freeway noise was overwhelming. The wait staff was uniformed and abrupt. The food was mediocre at best. I recently built a wood fired pizza oven in my backyard. I don't yet know what I am doing but my pizzas are much better than the one I had at the Fromaggio. They must be used to serving captives at the hotel. They certainly won't attract non-guests. The only good thing I have to say is that the wine list was affordable."

  • "This place is inside the Marriott in Rancho so I don't think it gets the amount of traffic that it deserves. The food and service is great. Made a reservation for 2, but when we got there realized reservations were not really needed as it was pretty much empty (friday 5:30pm). Had calamari, butternut squash ravioli, and grilled salmon. All 3 dishes were outstanding, simple flavors, well seasoned. Also had their house chardonnay YUM and Sterling sauvignon blanc, also very nice. This was our first time eating there (sit down) but we've ordered for pick up many times and have never been dissappointed."

  • "I think the outside seating would have given this place 5 stars for me but it was raining so we sat inside. The food and service was outstanding, the inside ambiance was nice but nothing special. I didn't look around but I think this restaurant needs an outside entrance to just the restaurant, we walked through some kind of convention for board games in the hotel to get to the restaurant which I thought was kind of odd. Overall experience was amazing, would definitely go back."

  • "Went here for Valentines Day. Had a reservation, but did not matter, they didn't even check. They seated us right next to the bar, last available table. We waited for 10 minutes, no one stopped by our table. I went to the bar myself for 2 drinks, $15. Finally the hostess us came over and asked if we had seen our waiter yet. Another 10 minutes later a waiter finally stopped by. He took our order and another 30 minutes later we were served. We had to track down another waiter for bread as well. Pizza was very good, Picata Chicken was not too bad, but costs $15. Overall, service was horrible, food was pretty good. Give this place 2.5 stars out of 5."

  • "I was with my husband, a freind and her 10 year old son. It was the first time eating at Formaggio for all of us. We went for Christmas dinner. They had a wonderful salad bar that had two kinds of green lettuce, gold and red beets, cold roasted vegetables, variety of cheeses, olives and more. The salad, dessert and a glass of wine was included in the price. Our opinion of main meal varied. My freind got the salmon and said it was excellent, my husband got the ham and said it was just ok, but overpriced. I had the rissoto, which I thought was undercooked. The desserts were tasty, but they did not offer anything chocolate, which disappointed my freind, who is a chocaholic. The server was freindly the restaurant was clean."

  • "We had been to Formaggio before and really enjoyed it. This time we were very dissapointed. We had a party of 8 for Thanksgiving dinner. Our reservations were for 6:15. When we got there we were informed that they ran out of turkey. We could not leave and go somewhere else because everyplace else would be booked. We were not given any compensation or offered any thing. All we got was an apology. My husband had the chicken which was not anything to write home about. By the time we went for dessert, most of that was gone and it looked like someone had eaten the meat out of the pumpkin pie. No one even checked the desserts and replinshed them. Shame on the Chef!!"
