Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful dinner at Fig Olive . The server was very good, friendly and restpectful."
    Dined on 8/30/2014
  • "I was very disappointed in this restaurant. The quality of the food did not meet expectations, nor the hype from the waiter. It was also quite pricey. The best dish was an appetizer, the mushroom and artichoke crostini. A friend and ordered the Branzino for two, which was tasteless. Another friend had lamb chops which she said were quite good. The waiter was pushy, overly explaining items on the menu as if we have never dined out before. He also referred to us a "girls" or "guys" (we are mature women.) Service was spotty. With all of the restaurant choices in Los Angeles, I will not return to this one."

  • "Unusual and exciting food choices. Items you've had at other restaurants are treated with innovation and care, bringing delight to your palette. The wait staff is attentive, friendly, and attractive. Just be prepared for the price tag at the end and you'll enjoy the entire experience."

  • "Tasty crostinis especially the mushroom with truffle oil and also had the carrot brussel sprouts side dish which was outstanding. Had the shrimp fettucine and lobster salad also great and good size portions. We loved everything"

  • "My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and had wanted to try out this restaurant for a long time. The table was a small 2 seater in a busy isle. It was very noisy and we couldn't hear each other talk. The server was barely adequate, but I guess he got the job done. The positive was the meal. I ordered the lamb chops and they were delicious, my husband had the paella and it was very good too. The highlight was the chocolate soufflé for dessert. Not sure we would go back since it was quite expensive and we weren't all that comfortable. Maybe it would have been better in the back room."

  • "Have been here before, and it's still exceptional. great food, ambiance and service!"

  • "This restaurant seldom misses...well worth return visits."
    Dined on 8/25/2014
  • "Oh yes, you never fail to impress me... Every time I come here, you prove that you can only get better and better. I first came here for lunch over a year ago - completely random, and now I come back seemingly more and more. This recent time was for my mother's birthday dinner and truly - beyond everyone's expectations! Thank you! I will be back again and again!"

  • "I wanted to order everything on the menu. We were delighted with our choices. And the presentation of the dishes is beautiful as well. We were surprised at the size of the bill. I guess we over-ordered. Our reservation was at 7 p.m. Noise level good. The later it got, the louder we shouted."

  • "We ran 20 mins late. I called and let them know they were very nice and kept our table and reservation. The food was excellent!"
    Dined on 8/20/2014
  • "Food and service could not have been better. Every course, every detail was perfect. Every dish a highlight: sea bass, lobster risotto, trio of crudo, gazpacho, desert sampler, even the bread and oil. Awesome all around."
    Dined on 8/20/2014
  • "While the restuarant itself is lovely, the service, food and wine list-not so much. The wine list is interesting but over-the-top expensive. The least expensive wine was $70 per bottle and of course, they were out of it. Most likely, the other diners had similar thoughts about the remaining offerings. We ordered an appetizer to share among 4 of us--just something to eat while we were chatting. 3 tiny pieces. You think the server would have alerted us to that fact. The main courses were good. Well prepared with interesting presentations. But, given the choice in LA at this price point, there are far better options."

  • "The Fig & Olive restaurant is all pretty, pomp, and plush. The food unsophisticated, unpalatable, and the service unbelievable. The price immoderate. Respecting their selection of farms and ingredients for their genuineness and seasonality, such as Kenter Farm (lettuces & herbs); Weiser Farm (cattle); Country Fresh (herbs) ; Mary's Farm (chicken); and Babe Farm (fruits & vegetables) - the preparing and presentation is lost. Our favorite fare were the artichokes tossed in garlic, parmesan, and balsamic ($9). The lobster bisque ($12) was more-like a spicy seafood stew - Manhattan-style served with a dollop of chive mascarpone but no spoon(s). Yes, service was unbelievable and If lobster is desired in-the-bisque? - add $6."

  • "Honestly, everything was fabulous. The cocktails (tried four, no shame), the appetizers (truffle croquets), and the entrees (goat cheese ravioli) were all amazing. But I can't stop fantasizing about those crostini. My life is ruined."

  • "Amazing flavors and textures. The service was top notch."

  • "I consider myself a foodie and this meal certainly rates as one of my all time best. Outstanding mix of flavors and styles. There are multiple options for even the choosiest of eaters."

  • "I am always a little reluctant to agree with the masses just because something is all the rage. Fig & Olive really had a lot to live up to because of all the buzz lately. We went here for my partner's birthday -- just me and him. Luckily, I was able to do a 4-course dinner through GroupOn and I had NO REGRETS. This place is an amazing atmosphere and the food is TOP NOTCH. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a special occasion experience or to just have a tasty food and wine adventure intimately or with friends."

  • "This is quality all the way- beautiful modern decor in a pleasantly uplifting light filled room (went for lunch), comfortable seats, perfectly spaced tables for privacy, delicious Mediterranean type food impeccably presented, prix fix and regular menu. Imagined how equally wonderful it would be at night sitting in one of loft tables overlooking room below with candle lit wall. There's also a great bar with plush sofas and chairs as you enter the restaurant."
    Dined on 8/18/2014
  • "I really love this place - just to enter the doors is wonderful, your stress level just drops & you feel transported. Their ambience, including the ultra high ceilings and glass to an outdoor patio (enclosed except for the sky) is unparalleled in Los Angeles! Then, the food - oh, the food - rapturous is not a good enough word. This place is like having a mini-vacation."

  • "Artificial and superficial.food standard , service average. Nothing special"
    Dined on 8/17/2014
  • "Great food! Friendly staff. Cool decor. Surprisingly reasonable prices. The paella and the lobster risotto were fantastic and the burrata, tomato and crab appetizer exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely return."

  • "Everything was perfect after we got seated. Until then we were very annoyed with the host because we were late for our reservation and had to wait an extra 45 min, felt like we were being punished. Our waiter (can't remember his name but handsome Bradley Cooper doppelganger) was very kind and caring. The appetizers were so delicious and filling we felt bad about ordering entrees because we couldn't finish them. The fig and olive salad was ridiculously delicious."

  • "If you'd like to have a meal with "European" portion and are ready pay more, this is the place for your. The food and service were great though but just be forewarned."

  • "I'd been to Fig and Olive for lunch and when I saw the Groupon listing I snapped up enough for a party of 4. We were put in the back dining room which was much better for conversation. The waiter was very enthusiastic and guided us through the menu for our various dietary restrictions. The cocktails were tasty and the food was divine. An assortment of crostini that looked like paintings and tasted of Provence started us off. The chef was especially deft at handling octopus. The only criticism I have -- and it's a small one -- is that the lamb chops were a bit too woody from the smoke and the accompanying sprig of rosemary was incinerated. The plate could have used a little color. Texture and doneness of the meat was perfect though."

  • "great food and service keep up the good quality hot spot will visit again"

  • "When we arrived at 6:30 the place was virtually empty. They seat us by the restroom and where the servers all congregate. Eventually we got moved. I ordered a penne pasta which was not even cooked. They did not even offer to replace. Besides they do not carry chili flakes in the restaurant. I brought my family only because I have visited the Newport Beach place twice last month and had a wonderful experience."

  • "The restaurant was great ! The food was delicious. My guests and I had the best time. Everything from the wine list, service and menu was amazing. I will definitely be back !"

  • "Loved Fig and Olive. We went on Groupon which included 4 courses (anything off of the menu). It was way too much food, but allowed us to try many items. The menu has a lot of choices, it was hard to pick. My husband and adult kids had the filet which was the best, very tender! I had sea bass which was also amazing. The salads are large and can easily be split. Appetizers were creative and very tasty with out being unusual. I am not a fan of not knowing what I am eating. Dessert was wonderful. Many compliments to the chef. We were treated nicely from entering the restaurant to the end. Our waitress, Rachel, could not have been better. We will go back again and again. I am glad Groupon reminded us of this beautiful restaurant!"

  • "Nice, good, simple dinner. No muss, no fuss. Will be great for a small dinner or a big dinner party."
    Dined on 8/11/2014
  • "I went here with a Groupon that cost $90 for a four course meal for two that included 3 crostinis, 2 appetizers/salads, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, and 1 glass of wine or signature cocktail (one for each). My meal was a $162 value (not including tax) and I ended up paying a total of $120 (I always tip on the full amount the bill WOULD HAVE been. Not the server's fault that you have a discount!) The food was fantastic. Recommendations: mushroom crostini, matador drink, Filet Mignon, Chicken Tajin, chocolate souffle, and chocolate pot de creme. Avoid piscine and crab & heirloom appetizer (too much ice for drink and too crabby for app.). I would highly recommend this place to anyone for a date night. Definitely make a reservation and dress up!"

  • "One of the most amazing restaurants I've had the pleasure to dine at. The food was fresh, delicious and healthy. Olive oil instead of butter, how healthy is that!"

  • "exellent service and the food wow!!! The ambiance was great, the service was excellent, would definitely recomment this restaurant."

  • "We really liked the place. If you are not used to the AC, it is very cold, the atmosphere is modern and the music is quite loud. The food was amazing, we loved the tasting and sharing plate dessert."
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "Food was excellent. I had goat cheese ravioli and it was one of the richest dishes I've ever experienced. I think what I should have done was order a few things between my boyfriend and I and shared them. Like something light paired with something rich, etc. The place was a touch noise but I'm an old woman and enjoy a quiet candlelit dinner. Overall service was great, waiter was down to earth which I really appreciated. Chocolate soufflé was amazing. I would come back with a group. Maybe a double date situation."

  • "I took my boyfriend for his birthday on Friday and we had the best time! We arrived early and they say us immediately and in the courtyard, as requested. We were well taken care of and the waiter was so helpful in helping us find delicious gluten-free options. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely amazing! We love this restaurant! I highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass and the Fig & Olive Salad! We also enjoyed the sea scallops and filet mignon. Sadly, the Brussels Sprouts and carrots were disappointing. We love trying inventive Brussels Sprouts at restaurants all over town but these were neither inspired nor tasty and we're cold and crunchy, so skip those. Otherwise, the food is amazing and we'll worth your visit!"

  • "Really one of the best meals I've had in a long time. The apps were incredibly tasty, and two out of three of our entrees were out of this world (don't get me wrong, the third, lobster risotto, was good, but just good in comparison). Last note - the corkage fee is excessive so if you bring a bottle, make it worth it!"
    Dined on 8/8/2014
  • "Much like the comedy routine of Cook & Moore, Peach and Frog, pretty much every dish has figs or olives or both. We sat upstairs, a bit warm and noisy. The Branzino for 2 was a bit small (the waiter offered to take off 10% because it was small, but still, $63 for one branzino is very pricey. Fish was very good, not salty, crisp, not dry. The artichoke appetizer was only fair."

  • "This is the first time I've been to Fig & Olive. We have a lovely evening with great food and wine and excellent service. Price is not cheap, but totally worth it!"

  • "We were 4 for dinner at F & O--getting the four course special dinner. The appetisers were very good, the salad was terrific and the main course was outstanding both in preperation and presentation. Two of us had lamb chops that were done perfectly. One had fish which was prepared to perfection and one had rissotto which he liked alot. While we were full, we still had a chocolate dessert which was wonderful."
