Diner Reviews
  • "Quite honestly one of the top five meals of my life. The atmosphere and ambiance was spot on. Service was first class. Food was to die for. I cannot wait for the location in Chicago to open this summer. Over the moon excited! "

  • "We spent 2 1/2 hours at the dinner table--the food was brought to us slowly (at our request). The waiter was very attentive to our every need. We had a great table in the big dining room, but on the side so that it was quieter. The food presentation was terrific and the food was even better. For a nice romantic dinner, Fig and Olive was great for us!!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with the service level and atmosphere. A super gem in LA and a great scene and environment. A MUST"

  • "Delicious food and lovely ambience. Great for entertaining! The olive oils and bread were excellent."

  • "Great restaurant, with great service, great food and great ambiance. Definitely recommended."

  • "The food and service was good, but way too fast. We ordered an aperitif and appetiser and before we'd even finished our drink our mains were out. It was far too rushed, we were done in 45 minutes and were disappointed to the point of being frustrated hence didn't bother to stay for dessert or coffees. The wine we ordered by the glass came out pre-poured in carafes and then into our glasses,we weren't even shown the bottle we ordered. It was not relaxing or enjoyable at all. Far more casual than I was expecting, especially for the price. We have dined in some amazing restaurants, from 1, 2 & 3 star michelin stars and other non-starred ones which are far better in comparison (to Fig & Olive). Disappointing as the restaurant inside is lovely."

  • "The food was unusual without being silly and was done just right. The waiter was pro-active without being at all overbearing. The sommelier was helpful and friendly."

  • "Love the atmosphere there, really enjoy the brunch as the place is not crazily crowded. Good selection from the pre fixe brunch menu (28 dollars) and the server was very attentive. Love the little crostini bites. Fig and Olive salad was as good as it gets!"

  • "I had a business lunch with clientele and it was a great place to enjoy the ambience of the restaurant, where the servicewas exceptional and the food was excellent! We had a new waitress who was in training and she was just delightful. She made excellent recommendations for the meal, helped us select the appropriate wine and the plates were delivered timely and smoothly. I commend the chef as the meals were exquisitely presented and deliciously appetizing. Thank you Fig & Olive for a great dining experience."

  • "Celeb hot spot with great food and atmosphere. Very LA!"

  • "Had a wonderful server named Kate at the Melrose location. I believe she was new but she had great instincts as to when to stop by the table. I must admit my crabcake with poached egg was dry. The crust was a little too hard but the flavor was fine. I have eaten dinner in your restaurant and it was perfect. Just an off day perhaps."

  • "the chicken tajin was delicious, succulent and exotic. the branzino was excellent. the desserts were very good too. the waiter would ignore us! he forgot to come to our table to ask if we needed anything or if we were ready to order! infact, we tried to get his attention by calling, shouting, etc. he couldn't hear us over the noise and he didn't look our way. this happened more than once!! I would still go here again because it's a nice atmosphere and I was accompanied by good friends. maybe it was just the one waiter who was too busy to tend to our table. I have been there before and I don't think I felt so ignored as this time. oh well!"

  • "I treated my husband for a pre-birthday dinner. The food, ambience and service, made our date night so special. Even the patrons next to our table were engaging us and having a great time. No question we will be returning to this lovely establishment!"

  • "We first discovered Fig & Olive in Manhattan a few years ago when we were visiting NYC and absolutely loved it. We went there with another couple for dinner. We were pleased to discover that they now have two locations in So. CA and went to the Melrose location for a late Saturday brunch. We didn't even get to any entrees on the menu because we had so much fun (and filled our appetites) grazing on appetizers. Everything was so fresh and wonderful...a total delight to the palette...and the service was excellent. The tasting of 3 different olive oils with their house made foccacia was also fun."

  • "Food and Service were great, very loud and the bar is very small. Most of the seats were reserved so very hard to find a place to sit or stand. The prices are on the higher side but was very good and a fun night out"

  • "I had lunch 2 times in this resturant but last time i went for dinner on Saturday night with my girlfrind was crouded place. The people work there are nice. Good food!! Experience restaurant if you see the plate."

  • "Loved the décor, ambience, and overall vibe of the restaurant. Food was outstanding, and A+ for the lamb and the branzino. Hostess very friendly, Sommelier made some excellent recommendations for a Spanish white and a red. Sommelier decanted our red, as our server was pouring a glass he spilled a fair amount on the white tablecloth. Fine, it happens, no problem, but clean it up and put a napkin over the splash area (much more than a drop!). He just apologized and moved on and we had to clean up ourselves, both the table and the wine glass. That same server dropped off the bill before we received our dessert. Maybe it's me but I think that is very tacky. We moved on an ordered aperitif's elsewhere."

  • "2nd time dinning there. The first time was so delightful , wanted to go back. This time felt a little more rushed by the waiter. food was excellent and had enjoyable company. So still fun evening."

  • "Of the times that I have been there this was the first time the food was not great. The lamb chops were overly smoked and bitter, but the staff did remove from final bill. The mushroom truffle risotto was less than fabulous as promoted by waiter. The actual risotto was dry and too firm, no creaminess texture whatsoever , the truffle oil added way too much earthiness to the dish. The fish dish was great though; it was the right portion and was cooked to perfection. The accompanying sides were very god also. Hopefully we will be able to relive the "experience" we became accustomed to in the future."

  • "This is one of our neighborhood restaurants we never think about. We went with a friend the other night and were reminded how great it is to eat there. Whether we're in the mood for tapas or a full 3 course meal - the dishes are tasty, well prepared and presented well. My only complaint is a little attitude. But, that won't deter me from going there early and often."

  • "Fig & Olive is simply phenomenal. It blends traditional Mediterranean flavors from Spain, Italy, and the South of France exquisitely to create wonderful dishes. From jamón ibérico and trio of crudo to the rosemary smoked lamb chops and paella, everything was simply wonderful, beautifully presented, and delicious. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, and super friendly. I even bought a bottle of their olive oils- they are amazing. I will definitely go back. I recommend to all."

  • "The food at Fig & Olive never disappoints. The olive oil is fantastic and the crostini are amazing. There is a wide choice of main meals of varying sizes. The restaurant is in a great location and has a stylish decor. Would definitely recommend."

  • "This was a fun place to have dinner. The service was great and overall, the food was quite good. It does have a bit of a scene to it, but still a pleasant and fun place to have dinner."

  • "Love the food, the service and knowledge of the staff was great, they recommended excellent food & wine pairings. I'm sure to be back!"

  • "It was very difficult to get the servers attention. She seemed somewhat robotic. It seemed as if she was avoiding eye contact on purpose -- to not have to engage with us. The bread didn't arrive until I asked for it. (The bread along with three types of olive oils is outstanding and one of the reasons to go here) . The room was unusually cold and we couldn't take our coats off because it would have been uncomfortable. We told several people and nothing happened. I finally walked over to the manager and said we were prepared to take our food "To Go" rather than eat in the wind tunnel and he offered to move us to a separate room that wasn't as nice as the main room but quite a bit warmer. Having said that, the food was amazing and I loved it."

  • "The crude and carpaccio were a fine idea- probably too much olive oil throughout the meal."

  • "On a recent trip to Los Angeles with my mothe and daughter I was keen to deliver a special experience at the well regarded Fig&Olive. When we arrived we were thrilled to see the wonderful setting. There were many lively and lovely available seating areas. We were seated at the entrance to the restroom which was disappointing. It took away from the special experience. The food was fine, the desert and mimosas were excellent but I felt we were treated as 'walk ins' rather than people with a reservation. In future I would ask to be seated elsewhere. Also the coffee was cool to cold so not great."

  • "If you're a big fan of olive oil in cooking, this is the place for you! I've been here for brunch and lunch and find the food tasty and healthful and the service superb. On my last visit I tried the filet mignon salad and it was prepared perfectly. Tucked away on Melrose Place off La Cienega, it's in a great location for meeting up with people from various parts of the sprawling LA landscape. As former Governor Schwarzenegger would say, "I'll be back.""

  • "This was my first time to the F&O. The choice of restaurant was via Google "Restaurants near West Hollywood". The food was great; extremely tasty, especially the Ratatouille. The atmosphere was quiet and my friend and I could actually have a conversation without repeating ourselves."

  • "Fresh and inviting decor and an imaginative, extremely well-executed menu that delivers on promised tastes. A wait staff that's both professional and enthusiastic. Appetizer selections are a kaleidoscope of flavors that will have your taste buds thanking you for days and begging to return."

  • "Enjoying a short holiday in LA and the Fig and Olive was recommended by a friend that lives here. Loved it and would definitely come back again. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the menu which really helped. The food we picked was fantastic, especially our desert. He also helped to recommend an extremely good glass of white wine for each of us."

  • "Much noisier than I expected, with just about all patrons 20 or 30 somethings. Service was not great, we had to ask twice for a pepper grinder but were provided with a complimentary bottle of water when that order got forgotten. Food was hit and miss, some appetisers quite good but my fig and prosciutto tart consisted of a large amount of pastry and rocket, some prosciutto but little discernible fig or cheese. Our entrees of a tagine and paella were not actually those dishes in any authentic way, but rather deconstructed versions. Paella was really a chicken risotto with grilled seafood on top. Vegetarian dishes were limited to mushroom pasta, very basic. Food quality takes a back seat to loud party atmosphere."
