Diner Reviews
  • "My party of five had been to the Drunken Fish before, so we were not strangers to the establishment. We first ordered several appetizers and were most pleased with the potsticker-style dumplings. For the main course, the other four in my party focused on sushi of various types, and all were very pleased. I ordered the sushi and sashimi plate and received a full plate of seafood delights. It was fresh and flavorful. One order of a very delightful strawberry cheesecake roll was shared by all. It was light and not overly sweet. In a word, it was perfect. We arrived at 7 on a Thursday evening and the service was exactly what you would want. Not hovering, yet attentive. The food arrived quickly without rushing us."

  • "Expensive for what you get, but food was good. $6.00 for a Bud in a bottle is ridiculous! Sushi was good and so are their salads. Service slow but waiter kept checking on us."

  • "Food was good however, very over priced. Our meal for 3 people was almost $100 with tip, and for that price I would rather dine at a nicer restaurant that was actually worth the money."

  • "Excellent variety and quality of sushi and other entrees. Food always is prepared as requested and beautiful presentation. Reservation ready on time."

  • "Our visit was to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We always enjoy our visits to The Drunken Fish and will continue to. Michael the manager was wonderful, visiting our table often to offer any assistance."

  • "I've been to drunken fish before (in cwe) and loved it. The sushi was super, but the stir fry noodles weren't. They gave us the combo even though we'd ordered the chicken. They remade it quickly. But there really wasn't much chicken or veggies in the noodles when it was fixed. The part that really bugged us was they were trying to seat people right on top of us. It wasn't busy enough for that to need to happen. I worked at a restaurant for 6 years. I get that it's easier if servers tables are nearby. But not at the expense of the ambiance."

  • "Some of the portions are a little small but the fish is fantastic! Purple haze sake was great too!"

  • "This place was jam packed full of extreme loud groups inside. So loud I could not even enjoy my food or speak with the 2 other people at my table. Whatever you do, sit near the front or I the "patio"...the back where we were sat is by the open kitchen...so on top of the loud groups, kitchen staff yelling to each other, you have the kitchen noise. The food was mediocre at best. A couple rolls were literally falling apart and we had to eat basically a rice bowl off our plate with a fork. I'll probably never go here again, blah."

  • "Smaller location but still great quality food and excellent service"

  • "Overall, well done. Interesting flavors in the sushi and entrees. Ginger salad dressing was a hit while miso was miso. White Tiger roll was outstanding as was the tempura. Sabu noodles were great. Despite a large crowd, service was solid. My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and the Drunken Fish turned out be a good choice."

  • "Nothing was really wrong with the food or service. It is not just energetic...it's noisy and if you want to carry on a conversation, it's probably best to find another place"
    Dined on 7/25/2014
  • "Food came out relatively quickly but the rolls weren't what we ordered, frustrating. Couldn't get water refills to save our lives. Don't make reservations for a weekend night because the manager & staff can't forecast how many tables to save and you don't get preferential seating."

  • "This was our third time this year at the Drunken Fish Westport. Our party numbered 2, 3, 7 for the visits. Each time we came away feeling very satisfied with the whole experience."

  • "The sushi was excellent, which salvaged an otherwise dismal experience. It was very crowded, and even with reservations we landed a table in the back by the open kitchen...noisy, smelly, chaotic. And even so close to the action the service was verrrrrrrry sloooooooow. And the bartender was clearly not as skilled as the chefs. I would have sent the warm-gin-in-glass back for a do-over if I had any confidence a proper martini would arrive while I remained on the green side of the grass. But the Red Dragon Roll was excellent. Perhaps they do take out?"

  • "Great evening! 1st time at this location the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was very good especially the cheesecake dessert! This was a recommendation from our server and boy was it fabouslous."

  • "We've been there before where we've waited an hour and a half for a table. Calling for reservations doesn't work when they are busy...best to go through open table for a reservation. This time, it was a Sunday evening and it wasn't crowded at all. Very quiet. The food is always good...and if you like Sushi...it's the best!"

  • "Food was excellent as always! we got our favorites, lettuce wraps, miso soup, drunken fish roll, spicy tuna, kamikaze roll and fried bananas. Our server Sean was just as great as the food! Thanks for a great night!"

  • "Drunken fish had a good selection of sushi which is what I was looking for. The starburst roll was my favorite of the ones I tried. I also enjoyed the cheesecake dessert. We will be back sometime."

  • "Fruit flies buzzed all around our table, the menus were grimy and unclean, the sushi was overpriced and very poor quality. Restrooms were equally filthy. We are definitely not coming back and will let friends know not to frequent this establishment. The dirtiness and flies really needs to be addressed."

  • "I made my reservation online. It did not show in their system when we arrived, so we were seated at a table in the back near the bathroom. It almost felt as if I was sitting in the hallway. I even had my confirmation email on my phone that I showed them."

  • "My husband and I have been to Drunken Fish twice, and both times were superb! The sushi is wonderful - very fresh and great mixtures. We love this place, but because of the price, we can only go on special occasions. It is well worth the price, we just can't go all the time of on a whim. This is by far, our favorite sushi place in St. Louis."

  • "The food was amazing but the cocktails were terrible. We have been to another location before and this one was the most disappointing. You could see how unorganized it was. It also took a very long time to get each thing we ordered due to the confusion in the kitchen area."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant. We have been going here for years. The food is still good but the atmostpher has taken a turn downward. When we arrived at our reservation time we were greeted by a woman, who we were later told was the manager. She was unfriendly and dressed in what my wife described as yoga pants. She didn’t seem to fit and we thought she might be better off working at an Old Family Buffet. The rest of the staff were nice as was our waitress but the place had a different feel, less chic. There are plenty of places to get good and less expensive sushi, but we’ve always liked TDF. We hope this experience was just a fluke and not a trend. We will certainly give them another shot. "

  • "Michelle was an awesome bartender! Had a great time talking with her, while she made some great drinks! She was friendly and fast and patient...especially because of the fAct that we got there 15 min before the kitchen closed. "

  • "All of the orders were slow due to too many people. Not sure would it be better if visited the restaurant other than Saturday. "

  • "The only problem was the service was very slow. It took way too long to her our food and even longer to get our check. Almost an hour to get our check."

  • "Make sure u clarify the Groupon with the waitress. We did with the hostess and the server but was completely shocked when both said we could still take advantage of the happy hour pricing and then our bill total was over $200! We were expecting about $50 after the Groupon. Also, One of our orders was wrong and the waitress argued with us and never fixed it"

  • "This is the first time I have ever tried Sushi, and our waiter was VERY helpful in "educating" me. I tried her recommendation, and I was very pleased. In fact, I am going back this week, and I plan to "branch out" in the Sushi world."

  • "Overall the food that was good. I have been told my many different people that the Drunken Fish is one of the best Sushi restaurants in St. Louis. The sushi there was good but in my opinion it is not worth the extra money. Some of the standard rolls there are about $13 - $16 and I do admit that they are better than other places but no where near worth a $4 - $7 mark up. I also got a large bowl of miso soup for $7 and to my surprise it was the same size and quality of any other sushi restaurant that sells it for $2.50. The worst part about this visit through was the service, we were constantly ignored. For a meal that should only take 45 minutes we where there for over 2 hours. It looks us over 30 minutes to even pay the bill. "
