Diner Reviews
  • "Duck: Tender, sliced, mixed with vegetables (parsnips, pear, fennel, greens - perfectly cooked), a blackberry sauce worth licking the plate. Smooth, tasty & satisfying cauliflower soup with a touch of fennel & duck skin. Argentinian Malbec - light tanins, touch of fruit, yet full flavor. Ended with a delicious dessert cheesecake: ginger, hazelnut, blackberry balsamic, and full flavor decaf. All this and more for $75 for two, but too much food for seniors like us."

  • "This is our second time at this restaurant. The food is really quite special and very reasonable. It is a storefront restaurant with a wonderful chef and excellent waitstaff. The prices are very reasonable. Our waitress recommended an excellent bottle of wine and the chef made me chocolate sauce for my ice cream dessert. Would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Tables were too close to one another. I felt like I was dining with the couple next to me."

  • "An unhurried atmosphere, terrific service, and delicious food well prepared and wonderfully presented - this about sums up the experience at Dolce. On a busy Saturday night, one can feel a bit crowded, but the service and food more than compensate. AC is cold, so take a wrap if you are easily chilled. And don't plan to hurry on a busy night. Just relax and enjoy."

  • "My husband and I recently visited Dolce for our anniversary. Our visit was fun and delicious! The Date night menu was spot on. My husband had the Kobe steak and that night the restaurant had a Duck entree on the menu. I must say both were amazing! We will definitely go back to Dolce."

  • "Although they have smaller portions, when you are getting a four course meal it is just about perfect. The service was wonderful, the food was amazing and the chocolate toffee mousse was a perfect ending!"

  • "I was very disappointed in the menu choices with the new ownership at Dolces. For a noon lunch, there were only three tables with people. That's a statement in itself. Sad. Finally, after looking over the menu for a lunch sandwich or an appealing salad, the waitress finally mentioned the special being a BLT. It was way over-priced and my friend and I left still hungry. She paid $31.00 for two very skimpy salads with the sandwiches that were very small. We won't go back when there's a lot more places such as Bravo. You can get bread with the oils and a salad special for $7.00 that over loads a plate."

  • "Purchased a groupon and used it here for an anniversary dinner. It is a simple, yet lovely place to dine and service is excellent. The food was very, very good and different so nice to have something you wouldn't get at every other place. Hope to return to try some of their other selections. The mussels for an appetizer were just exceptional."

  • "First the waitress brought the wrong wine (white instead of red). She poured it before I could catch it. We ended up keeping what she brought. Then she brought me the wrong salad. That I sent back. The appetizer and entree were good. She felt so bad about the wine and salad mix up that she brought us an extra desert. Thank goodness! They forgot to cook the cream brûlée. When we broke into the sugar it was all runny. Raw egg, not good. The cheesecake was awesome though. I would definitely go back for that."

  • "We tried the couples meal. The main meal itself was very good. The bread pudding for dessert was scorched. When going to the rest room, the hallway is very narrow because of the lockers. I don't thing a wheel chair or someone with a handicap that would use crutches or something of the nature would be able to use the restroom."

  • "My wife had been wanting to go Dolce for a while and we will be going back soon, just a comfortable air, friendly service, great food , worth a try ."

  • "The food was adventurous with interesting combinations of flavors. The chef, however, needs to fine tune flavor profiles to balance the dishes. For example, the take on chicken cordon bleu we started with as an appetizer sounded amazing. In reality, the chicken was flavorless, the sauce a bit bland, and stuffing unmemorable. The flavor of my partner's main-- seared pork belly over sobe noodles-- was absolutely overwhelmed by a heavy dose of salty soy sauce. That being said, each course was cooked to technical perfection and there were some real stand out dishes in the meal. Dolce never quite shakes the feeling that it is in a strip mall and service is fine, but not great."

  • "Everything is presented with the greatest attention to detail. The flavors are fresh and fantastic. The service is amazing! Our evening was beyond our expectations and we will be back! We wish Dolce was in Austin!!"

  • "We had a groupon for the fixed price menu, so decided to try it out. The fixed price menu has most of the options of the main menu, so it is a good way to go. Our appetizer was pork belly with watermelon, which was really nice. We both had the salad as the first course. Both the salmon and chicken were excellent entrees. The desert was the bread pudding which was good as well. Overall, it is a smaller resturant with white table cloths and simple, modern decorations. The service was excellent. Some websites described it as slow, but it was a good pace for a fine dining establishment. We were in and out in an hour and 15 minutes. I would recommend and we will try it again sometime."

  • "Very cosy upscale restaurant with excellent food. Food was well prepared and timing between each course was not rushed. Would recommend reservations as most if not all tables were filled. "

  • "We had reservations for 4 at 6:30 pm on a Friday night, but my husband and I arrived at 6 for a pre dinner drink. We wanted to sit outside, and were promptly accommodated. I was anxious thinking we might be screwing up the restaurants reservation schedule because we would want to sit inside once the other two arrived, but I needn't have worried! They very smoothly took over for us, and the server who would be taking care of our dinner actually came out to serve us drinks! When we did get to dinner, we also checked in on Yelp and got the date night deal (appetizer, soup/salad, 2 entrees and a dessert normally $58) for only $45! So we promptly ordered more wine to make up the gap :). Service was excellent, food was great, a fun 3 hrs!"

  • "We ordered off the date night menu. It was a fantastic deal included an appetizer, soup or salad, two mains a desert and a bottle of wine for $75! The food was perfect. We got the mussels they were exceptional. The chef sent out a charcuterie that was delicious. I had the chicken which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the pasta with waygu beef and pork. I would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone who is looking for a romantic dinner with flawless food."

  • "The restaurant was fabulous-the food was delicious and unique, the ambience was perfect for a romantic evening or even a get together with friends, and the "date night" menu was an exceptional value. It was our first time there and my husband were planning when we could come back and what friends we would bring!"

  • "My wife and I went in for our annivarsay for a romantic date night. The food was amazing but we were disappointed in our server. He couldn't remember what was in our food and he was very slow in service. He also forgot that we had a group on to help pay for the special occasion. Like I said great food but when you are paying for top of the line food you would think you could get knowledgeable servers who were concerned about the quality of the customers overall experience especially in such a small venue. "

  • "We were very impressed with new owners' take on fine dining in a simple relaxed atmosphere. Pricey for a strip mall, but menu reflects time and effort as well as attention to detail. Service by Laurelin was excellent! "

  • "Haven't eaten here since Gina sold the restaurant. We loved our dinner. The margarita mussels are the best in town. They should be on the regular menu. My flat iron steak was cooked to perfection. The pasta and ragu were also good."

  • "I'm not sure if our server was new, but he was terribly slow. We did the Date Night Pre Fixe. We had reservations at 8:30 and were seated right away and one of the servers opened up a bottle our bottle of wine. Unfortunately she was not ours. Ours arrived and introduced himself and seemed okay. We then gave him our selection for all four courses and enjoyed our wine. Our entire meal took roughly two and a half hours. We watched other tables come in after us, have the same pre fixe menu, and be out the door before we even received our entrees. The food was very good but two and a half hours for dinner was absolutely ridiculous, especially since the restaurant was not particularly busy that late at night. I wouldn't mind trying again but..."

  • "Dolce was an excellent experience. We did the "Date Night" Prix Fixe menu. The mollusks were a great appetizer. The beet and goat cheese salad - incredible. "

  • "Five of us went to dinner on Tuesday, and we had an awesome meal! Four of us tried the prix fixe menu, and my spouse ordered from the regular menu. The beef on the prix fixe menu was tender, and cooked to perfection. The chicken was also very tasty, according to my son. My husband ordered the pork chop, and he was very happy with his meal. We tried the appetizer of the day, which was zucchini shredded to look like noodles, with a cream sauce. It was delicious! The roasted red pepper soup was creamy and also delicious. For dessert, we tried the yuzu ginger cheesecake. My husband did not care for the chunks of nuts in the crust, but I thought it was wonderful. Service was superb. Great dining experience! "

  • "We went for lunch. We were the only ones there for a large portion of the time and our food took a long time. When you're on a business lunch, timing is important. The food flavor was excellent, but the variety on the menu was lacking and the warm goat cheese salad was very small. In fact, while we were there we witnessed diners come in, sit down review the menu and leave instead of ordering."

  • "My sister and I were on a cross country trip and found a groupon for the 'date night' option for Dolce. Everything was absolutely delicious, the service was wonderful, and everyone made our evening very special. I highly recommend this place!"

  • "I took my wife here for our 1 year anniversary. We did the pre fixe date night menu which was almost perfect for two. The only thing we added was an additional bread pudding for dessert. The bread pudding is so fantastic we each wanted our own. When I made the reservation on OpenTable I had mentioned it was our one year anniversary. They paid attention and comped us the extra bread pudding for the special occasion. Jason was our server and he made it a very special evening. We really love this place and with the new ownership and redesign of the interior, they made a good thing even better. I would not hesitate to recommend Dolce. The food is really amazing, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is relaxing."

  • "The restaurant was slow on Tuesday night, as expected. We celebrated my girlfriends birthday and we were impressed. We ordered the date night for two and it was incredible. Food and service were outstanding. Would put Dolce up against boiler room or v mertz any day. Definitely will be coming back."

  • "We tried Dolce for the first time for our First Anniversary Dinner. We did the Date Night + Wine option ($75 prix fixed) and all of the food was delicious. The service was wonderful too. The daily risotto was my favorite and my husband really enjoyed the ginger cheesecake. The ragu was alright, but the steak option was prepared perfectly. My only complaint, is that we noted that it was our "First Anniversary" on the open-table comments and they didn't say or do anything. I know we shouldn't "need" that, but it would have been nice for our server to acknowledge that we chose Dolce for such a special occasion. Overall it was an excellent night."

  • "The food at Dolce is great. The appetizers and salad were phenomenal. The risotto, which changes every day, was cooked perfectly and you must try the Warm Goat Cheese salad. The crispy coating on the outside of the warm, gooey goat cheese filling, combined with dressing, beets, and arugula was fantastic. The courses are perfectly sized to make it through 4 courses without feeling like you have a brick in your stomach, and the Prix Fixe menu is priced very well. In addition, the restaurant was small and quiet enough to be perfect for a date night, but just loud enough that it wasn't uncomfortably silent."

  • "This was our first dinner at Dolce since new owners took over. We had previously eaten there half a dozen times and loved the food. This time it was uneven - the starter was fair, one salad was poor, the other was great, both entrees were just okay, and the dessert was very good. Wines were okay. Smaller menu, less consistent food ... not good trail signs. We'd love to see this neighborhood restaurant succeed."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Food quite good on the Prix Fix choice--service was a bit unsteady and not as polished as the food would suggest."
    Dined on 4/10/2014
  • "Our dining experience at Dolce was amazing. Our server was extremely friendly and professional. Each course of the meal was outstanding! It is really hard to go to a restaurant and be very excited about every part...appetizer, salad, main course, and dessert. I loved the fact that I didn't feel rushed like at some restaurants that just want you in and out. I didn't get that vibe here. They were timely with each course. I dislike when I am at a restaurant, and my courses are just piling up on top of each other. They waited until we were done with our appetizer before bringing out our salad...same with the main course and then dessert. We appreciate that. It was a great experience, and we will be back for sure."
