    Join us for a special evening of food and wine. Partnering with the best wineries in Northern California, on the 3rd Wednesday of each month Chef Jason will prepare a regionally inspired four course meal paired with wine.

    Wine Dinner seating is very limited and the experience is customized with one on one contact with the Chef and the Winemaker. Upcoming wineries are:

  • "We went to Dawson's before going to the theater. The service was excellent. They seated us right away and asked if we were going to the theater. The food was great. We had filet mignon and it was perfectly seasoned and done medium as we asked. We had coconut cake for dessert and it was as light as a cloud. A very good choice for a special occasion or before going next door to the community center theater."

  • "We have been to Dawson's several times now before the plays at the Convention Center. The food is always excellent, as well as the service. The waiter gave us excellent suggestions when asked, and the swordfish was wonderfully prepared and season. It was cooked to perfection. My friend likes her fish (overcooked in my opinion) cooked almost well-done. She forgot to ask to have it cooked well-done. When our waiter asked if she enjoyed the fish, she did not mention it. However, I did say that she preferred it to be cooked a little more. The waiter brought her another glass of champagne"on the house.," which greatly pleased my friend, who wanted another glass anyway. That kind of thoughtfulness and sensitivity will certainly bring us back."

  • "As usual Ardy and Joseph took great care of us! Food was fabulous! The Spinach Salad, Scallops and Crab Cakes were shared. My all time fave though is the Creamed Spinach! It is so good it is like dessert! To start off with the tapenade is the best way to start an evening! I love this place!"

  • "Food was good but not exceptional. Value is marginal. Service is outstanding; old school like the decor, which hasn''t changed. The busboy about had a heart attack when, thinking I was done eating since there were only a couple of bites left on my plate, picked up my wife's dish. Before he could reach for mine I said I was still working on it. His profuse apology was for removing my wife's plate before I was done, which many restaurants (incorrectly) now do routinely. The decor hasn't since the place opened 30 years ago or so which likely would bother some people but not me.."

We ordered the bone-in ribeye steak, rack of lamb, crab cakes, & their infamous carrot cake. Kudos to the chefs, pastry Chef Vo, and our server Rick. We will definitely be back soon!"

  • "Made reservations last minute. Arrived early,got a drink at the bar...very attentive, got drinks & snacks very fast. Got seated early. Our waiter was superb. The food was spectacular! We were going to a show and they timed everything perfectly. Dawson's is first rate and we will definitely return."

  • "I go to Dawson's often and this time is one for the record books! It was my daughter's birthday and I noted that on my reservation. After having not the "best" experience, at a past visit Joesph, the GM, responded immediately. My daughter, who is a foodie, was supremely happy with not only the food but the service! Ardy, is a gem and if you ever dine at Dawson's ask to be in his section! The Olive Tapenade, has and still is my favorite part of dining here! My daughter had the NY Strip with 2 sauces and was beside herself with joy! I had the lobster tail side and of course the mac n cheese which was decadent! To finish off our experience we shared a chocolate souffle that knocked our socks off! Kudos! We will be back again!"

  • "I took my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentine's Day and our 5 year anniversary. Not only was the food delicious but the service was excellent. The staff even helped me in making the night extra special by surprising my girlfriend with an "anniversary candle" to blow out on her choice of dessert. We were both so impressed with the service and food that we are planning to come try out their selected menus another day."

The valet parking is also convenient and makes the whole experience quite easy coming from out of town. The food is delicious. I had sea bass and my friend had a light meal of the onion soup and wedge salad. Both of us were pleased with our choices. The service was excellent. The staff made sure we were served in plenty of time before the theater performance and made superb recommendations from the menu. I highly recommend dining at Dawson's before the theater or anytime."

  • "My girlfriend and I came in for a dine downtown prix fixe menu about a month back. As we walked around the lobby, we almost passed by the restaurant because it's fairly unassuming. No giant glitzy signs or loud noises signalling it's presence. Just dark wood, dim lights, mellow conversations... the perfect environment to hide the ninja-like servers who provide excellent service before you even know you need it. The food is great. Not the best in Sacramento, but the quality of the ingredients is great and the overall preparation is solid. As long as you got great ingredients, there's only so much you can (and should) do to them. I look forward to coming back. NOTE: Parking, whether done by yourself or valet, is free with validation."

  • "We went for my wife's birthday, on a night where everyone had the prime rib special. Wonderful, attentive staff - and very reasonable for the special. This Second dinner was more pricey, but really superb. Had another couple out to celebrate, and tried a variety of entrees. The waiter was very knowledgeable, and the red wine reduction sauce was heavenly! If you have need of a place for a special occasion dinner - this is the place to go. By the way - they validate hotel parking, and a 3 hour dinner only cost $1.75 for parking in downtown Sacramento!!"

  • "The service was very good, the scallop appetizer was most likely the best cooking of a scallop I have ever seen, and I love scallops. The steak was a bit tough but tasted very good, and the butter topping was really good. Lots of wood in this place, which I like, so that was nice."

  • "I think our waitress was Catalina. She was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the pumpkin soup and it was presented beautifully as well. The bread was tasty. I ordered sides of vegetables which were nicely cooked, although somewhat under-seasoned. My guest had salmon which was also nicely cooked, but under-seasoned. It was nice that the restaurant had salt and pepper grinders though."

  • "I had not been to Dawson's for some time however recently invited two friends to have dinner with me there. I was happy to see their dishes now include vegetables and we all felt the food was very good. The wine list was delightful and the service was great. We were going to a performance and they were very aware of our timing needs. I will go again soon and I highly recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "I usually dine at Dawson's before going to the theater. I had the Sea Scallop appetizer with a side of Creamed Spinach...to die for! My son had the Cioppino and LOVED IT! We were extremely happy with our food service but service and greet at the bar were dismal to say the least...Ardy we sure missed you and hope the next time we are in you are there! If you do dine at Dawson's ask for Ardy. He never disappoints!"

  • "I had the crab cakes as my starter. The waiter said the were excellent - they were not. They are a little. Bigger than a half dollar, tasted fishy,, they are also $16.00. You get two. We did not finish them. Our server was not interested when we said they we not good. I had the ribeye. In spite on the be service, crab cakes.....OMG. beat ever, including Morton`s."
