A word from Datz
We are omnivores — carnivorous, chocolate-loving, bacon-hoarding, wineauxs, beer geeks, curd nerds and yes, even vegetarians. Together we are shamelessly unapologetic flavor crusaders and Datz is our playground. An american gastropub + market dishing up regional comfort food favorites generously paired with craft beer, boutique wine and artisanal cheese. Served with ample sides of culinary education and entertainment in a spirited, ever-evolving environment. After all, we believe ordinary belongs in the dictionary, not in a restaurant. Especially ours.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Datz is unlike any other restaurant I have ever been too. The lay out of the restaurants is so cool and allows for plenty of space for lots of diners but also keels you from feeling like you are eating off of someone's dinner plate. The food is unlike anything you will find in Tampa. This restaurants specializes in bacon and their sandwiches are to die for. I can't wait to go back to try their breakfast."

  • "We went as a group of 5 for a late lunch on a Saturday and were not disappointed. Both the reuben and short ribs were delicious! The watress was charming and well versed with the menue and drink selections."

  • "Any time I have visitors from out of town, I bring them to Datz! Everyone has fallen in love with the restaurant and its vibe! Thank you for always impressing and for a good time, every time!"

  • "I have been to Datz before with my boyfriend and we loved it. In that, I suggested we go for my best friend's birthday. Unfortunately, the food was cold and disappointing. I was so upset. The place was slammed so we just paid and went on our way. I love the atmosphere and the food was fantastic the first time, but consistency is key."

  • "We've been to Datz 4 times. The first time, we were told it was a half hour wait, so we put our cell ph# down for texting, and we left as we had a show to get to. 1 1/2 hours later, table was ready. The second time, we went earlier and got in. Sat at a booth with our 7 year old son, looked at the menu, then were told we had to get up because the booth was reserved. We got up, then were told to sit back down. The food was EXCELLENT except for the fact that it took literally 45 minutes to get it. The restaurant was not busy. The last two times we went, we either got the wrong sandwich or it was prepared incorrectly. The food, when prepared, is great, and the service is fine. It just seems that every time we go, something is "off"."

  • "the reservation portion was perfect. Was too loud. The food came about an hour and 15 minutes later whichhas never taken that long before."

  • "I've been to Datz a few times and have never been disappointed. I took my mom here for her birthday and she enjoyed everything...from the wine to the food to the dessert. We will definitely be going back!"

  • "My husband and my 4 kids planned a limo trip from Orlando to Tampa and your restaurant came highly recommended for our energetic group .... We heard the food was wonderful and we were anxious to try it.... You did not disappoint!!! The staff was very accommodating .... My sister from Mass. Even prearranged a delicious birthday cake to be delivered to the table for me from your bakery....she had been in contact with the owners for this surprise.... Food was fabulous, staff was wonderful ....I felt our group of got the royalty treatment from everyone there.... Great birthday fun. Thanks to all ! Perfect atmosphere for a special occasion."

  • "I have visited DATZ 3 times now for dinner, each time, service was a disaster. No attention after you are seated. Forget getting drink refills and waiters disappear for extended periods of time, it’s almost a treat just to see the waiter to get the check. Most recently, a waiter delivered a drink we didn't order (was for the table next to us). This also occurred for their appetizers and main course too (we became quite friendly with the table next to us). Beer and Wine took almost 20 minutes and not 1 offer to refill Sodas, literally sat empty, we stopped waiter walking by for a refill. They are either seriously understaffed or just highly unorganized. BUT, the food is always great and we like the atmosphere, but damn, get better organized!"

  • "This was my first time at Datz and have wanted to go for years! The first impression was amazing from the hostess being friendly to the food being outstanding! I will definitely be back! Plus you absolutely need to check out their sister bakery next door called "Dough" they have the most amazing macaroons!"

  • "Great find in Tampa. Great dinner with customers at a nice off the beaten path find. Try the Pork Shank Chicken n Waffles or the Macaroni stuffed Meatloaf but save room for one of their amazing desserts. Arrive hungry!!"

  • "I both texted ahead to reserve a table, and signed up for a reservation thru opentable. However, when we arrived, they weren't open! Apparently doing some remodeling but then you should not accept reservations if you are not open."

  • "Unique food, but hit and miss when it comes to execution."

  • "We had an overall great experience with the food and service. The only complaint is that the hostess seemed annoyed that we had a baby with us. Our appetizer was a little late, but they took it off the bill without us even asking. Otherwise, it was one of many great Datz experiences we've had."

  • "We had the BEST server, Kayla ( what a "Smooth Operator), even though we were seated in an out of the way spot, and had asked for a better table, she made us feel SO comfy!!"

  • "Great food, and absolutely fantastic bakery. A little pricey, and the meal came out missing one piece, but recovery was quick. Will definitely return again!"

  • "Our first visit to DATZ proved to be enlightening. We loved the ambience and the creative menu. The Capt enjoyed his "breakfast for lunch" - EGGS BARBACOA, and for me, datz's version of a Cuban - HAVANA HOTTIE of datz pulled pork, ham, swiss cheese, dill pickle, spicy honeycup mustard, served hot on a house-baked batard. Cannot wait to revisit to dine on the "when pigs fly" datz bacon flite: benton's hickory smoked bacon, jowl bacon, back bacon, peppered bacon, nueske's applewood smoked bacon with balsamic glaze, maple syrup, red chili pepper jam, and valrhona chocolate, sounds delish!!"

  • "We went for the 1/2 ff apps between 3-6 and we got 6 apps(out of 14) and 1 cup of chilli. We weren't disappointed but we weren't impressed either. We would go back again since we really don't have any complaints to not give thaem another chance."

  • "Been wanting to take my husband for a long time-finally got the chance on Valentines Day. Although we made reservation, there was plenty of seating at the bar. Bartender appeared a little stressed but considering it was a busy holiday it didnt ruin anything for us. Food and cocktails great as always, portions plentiful. I like the new "dough" where you can sit and have dessert away from crowd."

  • "If this restaurant wasn't recommended by a friend I would have never made a reservation. What an amazing meal, service, staff, and ambience. It is truly worth the time and wait to get a table! The food is the kind you want to finish but you just can't. Every item we had was terrific."

  • "I hosted a business lunch at Datz yesterday. This was my first time dining at the restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals and I will be back with friends and family in tow introducing them to this South Tampa gem."

  • "Grabbed a quick breakfast around 9:30am with the family and it was perfect. Not too busy, great food and great service. Vegetarian friendly too!"

  • "I eat at Datz often and usually can rely on good food and service. This trip was different. The waiter was pushy and would not take no for an answer on ordering drinks. He forget to bring us the free popcorn several other tables received the popcorn. My sandwhich bread was very greasy. There was way too much butter. Lastly, the check took 25 minutes to arrive."

  • "The food is great, I always enjoy my meals, thats why i keep going back. The service is great too, when you can get them to come to your table. Even though it wasn't extremely busy, some of our foods didn't show up at the same time and the server was MIA at times when we needed things like water, or more coffee. I would still go back, just hope for more efficient service."

  • "Always love the menu choices and the service is fantastic. 2 thumbs up from both of them. My family and I love it. We come all the way from New Tampa and it never fails to please. Always get something from the bakery to go."

  • "I have been here several times and every time was a great experience, except the last one! I was so disappointed because I took 6 relatives with me so they could have a great experience, but our burgers were WAY undercooked and the food was cold by the time we got it. It was my birthday so that was even more sad for me. I think maybe it was a different cook or maybe just a bad day. I loved it so much the other times that I will continue to make the 45 min drive and hope the next time will be better."

  • "The bacon sampler was delicious and a fun find. It was not delivered before our dinner, however, but the waitress took care of that with her manager before we even asked for a discount. We appreciated that. The portions are huge and very tasty. We will go back."

  • "This restaurant is well known in the Tampa area for great food! Monkey bread outstanding! Omelets were fabulous! Lots of choices and make your own. ! Homemade bread delicious. Always crowded and waiting line so getting these reservations was perfect!"

  • "Service was sporadic and food took 45 mins to get to us we got an apologie from the manager and they discounted the appetizer but we were never told. Young staff need more training. Menu was varied and craft beer available Enjoyed the meal."

  • "I have been going to Datz from time-to-time for years but this is the first time I decided to try a business meeting. It worled. Easier on the wallet. My colleague did not know about the place and had a great meal. The food was MUCH improved over past experiences - Not that it was bad at all, but there was a noteable leap in quality. I will be back very soon. Thanks. D."

  • "The last 2 times we ate at Datz I took my sister and her husband who had never been to Datz. Also, I took a neighbor who had never been to Datz. Both times we sat upstairs and the service was LOUSY, LOUSY and LOUSIer! Would go back and try it one more time and request sitting downstairs only! If service is poor, I would never go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone! I was SOoooooo embarrassed about the poor service. Im afraid my friends/relatives will try it again."

  • "Great neighborhood gastropub with a menu that changes to keep interest high. Parking can be a challenge. But we are lucky to be close enough to walk."
    Dined on 1/7/2014
  • "Very decadent menu! Would not come here if I was on a diet. Meat lovers paradise. Wish there were more dishes versus sandwiches for dinner. However, considering the history of the restaurant, I understand. Logan is awesome, makes you feel like best friends right from the minute you sit down. Love that you can walk over to Dough for a change of scenery and delicious deserts and coffee."

  • "Totally worth the 45 minute drive to get there. This is going to be our new spot for special occasions. The black truffle fries were amazing- great flavor and seasoning despite being soaked in truffle oil. The corned beef on my reuben was very lean, possibly the best I ever had. The bread got a little soggy on the bottom side, but I haven't had many reubens that didn't get soggy. Spouse had the club sandwich, bacon was really good, but he didn't love the multi-grain bread. The chips with bleu cheese drizzle were a great concept, but the drizzle needed a little more punch to it, seemed a little bland. I know this review is a bit critical, but this was still the best food we've had in months (and we go out A LOT). I highly recommend!"
