  • "If you're looking for some of the best Gulf Coast seafood around, head on over to Danton's. Some of the best gumbo i've ever had. Always friendly service in a comfortable environment. The Sunday Blues Brunch is lively and fun. Some great musicians and Bloody Marys!"

  • "Danton's is my favorite seafood restaurant - hands down the best Louisiana seafood in the city. They have done family dinners - my Dad's 86th in particular - that we're perfect. Business associate dinner that was relaxed, yet elegant. Awesome Sunday brunch for 2. Bloody Mary's and oysters are the cream of the crop with a Jazz band that feels like New Orleans. Just love all of it. Thanks for all the hard work it takes to consistently serve great food."

  • "Ate at Danton's for the first time last Saturday. Food was excellent, service even better, drinks were just right, wine selection good, reasonable, and tasty. For gulf coast seafood this place has it down. Will most assuredly be back soon."

  • "Just looking to celebrate a special occasion and this was perfect. Quiet but not a morgue. Food was very good - appetizers and main course. Wait staff was attentive and helpful with specials, not too stuffy but pleasantly conversant."

  • "Danton's is a good place for Gulf Coast seafood prepared in ways reminiscent of my South Louisiana roots."

  • "My parents came in from out of state and they wanted seafood. Went on open table and Dantons was close and priced for my parents on a "don't want to spend much" budget. We were seated directly under a speaker that was very loud making conversation harder than usual with my father to stubborn to use his hearing aid. Our waitress was very friendly and responded to all of our questions and request so what began as a bad experience turned out much better."

  • "A group of us had a late lunch before attending the Main Street Theatre. The Mimosas, appetizers and entres were great, but our peanut butter pie was still frozen and we did not have time to wait for it to thaw. The band was cool, however we were obviously seated too close to the band because we could not converse without yelling over the music."

  • "The food was lacking. I found the fish to be under-seasoned. The gumbo was terrible; didn't tsar like gumbo at all. The fried shrimp was good. Enjoyed the band, but not the food."

  • "I took my inlaws(from Dallas) to eat here & they loved it. They cleaned their plates. This was awesome because they are so picky. My husband & I were so happy we chose Danton for this special visit."

  • "My sister and I visited Danton's from the Austin/ San Antonio area. We decided to give it a try after we saw an ad for it in our hotel magazine. Reviews on Yelp seem unfair- we had a great time!!! Service was the best I have had in a while, food arrived quickly even though the place was packed and it was Saturday night!!! Quality of food was great- very fresh and tasty!! I highly recommend Danton's!!! Nice, casual atmosphere and a wonderful experience all around!!!"

  • "Service was very judge mental waiter was older gentleman and horrible no personality . we were not informed of the day special and you could hear from the other wait staff what the evening special was very poor service and food was fair"

  • "I saw this restaurant advertised on TV, and decided to visit. The food was great. When I left, I was greeted in a friendly manner, by the management."

  • "Oysters are a specialty. We've frequented the restaurant over the years and both half shell and prepared are terrific and in our view as good as they get here. We've been to the restaurant when they haven't offered them because those available weren't up to their standards, which is reassuring. Their cajun dishes are all excellent. Great restaurant now getting its due."

  • "Tonight we got to try the things we simply didn't have room to try last night. Although, we did repeat the Oysters Dan and they were just as wonderful. Gumbo was rich and delicious! The contest was whether the chicken & andouille was better than the seafood variety. We will definitely go back to Danton's on our next trip to Houston. It is truly a neighborhood gem! In the beautiful Museum District."

  • "We looked forward to a return visit to Danton's for our Annual Houston trip and were not disappointed. Making a decision about what to order was the only stressful part of the evening. Our server was helpful with suggestions. Oysters Dan has replaced Oysters Rockefeller as our favorite appetizer. The gumbo had the darkest roux ever. Pecan crusted trout was divine. The side of yams was almost dessert. Our other entree was catfish and it was equally enjoyable. Shared a piece of Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie and it was so good. So full, we should have walked back to the ZaZa. We enjoyed Danton's so much we went back the next night. With all the restaurants in Houston, Danton's deserved twice!"

  • "I have been to Dantons a handful of times, and unfortunately, this last visit was the worst. To start, the service was slow. We had reservations for 730, had cocktails and appetizers, and then waited 40 min for our entree. The bottle of white wine we ordered for the meal was served at room temperature. When we told our server that wine was warm, instead of bringing a new chilled bottle, a bucket of ice was brought out. When we got the entrees, the roux in my Gumbo was burnt. By the time we got done, it was 10:20, which was at least a hour longer than we had planned. What a dissapointment."

  • "Our group of 6 adults thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. It took a while for our salads to come out, but everything was times well after that. Food was excellent, with very fresh oysters and shrimp."

  • "Can not say enough good about this place!! I eat out night and I can afford the best. I have found by far the best gumbo in the city."

  • "We had a little wait but not bad. Our waitress was cute and a good sales person. At the end of our dinner we had another customer come over to visit at our at table and his wife had just died and he needed to talk to a familiar face outside of family. Our server never interfered and our money was out to pay her. We appreciated the fact that they were not rushing us off and little did they know how important this visit was to our friend! Plus the food was very good!yj"

  • "Tried it with the hubbie. Ordered the Galveston Island Tea and it was strong and yummy! For apps, hubbie had an oysters and I had a cup of poblano and crab soup. For entrees, I had the Shrimp Danton and I literally wanted to lick the plate. My hubbie had redfish and enjoyed it. For desserts, we had creme brûlée and peanut butter ice cream cake which was excellent. Good service. Will come again."

  • "The kitchen at Danton's consistently produces outstanding dishes. The Gulf Coast seafood choices, which are always fresh and reliable, stand out at lunch and dinner. A hidden gem though is their Sunday jazz brunch. Excellent New Orleans jazz groups play while you sip delicious bloody mary's and mimosas and savor variations on eggs benedict, florentine and my new favorite, a poached egg and a boudin patty on an english muffin, surrounded by hollandaise sauce. Wonderful."

  • "I haven't been to Danton's in years and was looking forward to brunch. It used to be buffet style with lots of selections and impeccable service. This time, it was an a la carte menu with breakfast selections I could find at any restaurant. My husband got migas. For the price, we could have gone to a Mexican restaurant for way better. I got the Seafood C. The seafood tasted very fresh and I believe it was worth the price. The $1.50 sub for a 1/4 cup of dirty rice instead of an included side seemed a bit much. Our server would disappear for over 10 mins at a time so our cups sat empty for a bit. It's not the Danton's I remember. For good and fresh seafood, this is a good place. For a fun brunch with good service, go elsewhere."

  • "The location was good for our event, close to Main Street Theater. Our service was good, but a little abrasive. The gumbo tasted like the roux was burnt and honey we know that ain't good. Second time to try this place and i don't think we will be back."

  • "The seafood here is a cut above--everything we had was delish and perfectly prepared--would go back in a heartbeat"

  • "Wonderful food and music. Blues band is great but, depending on where you sit, can be loud. Wendell, our waiter, was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, prompt -- just terrific. Highly recommended all the way around."

  • "The food there is wonderful. I try to select a new dish but the favorite to me is Pecan Crusted Rainbow Trout and I go back to it. The veggies are always good too. This is a must try kind of place!"

  • "We were looking for a new (to us) place to eat on the weekend and my husband read a piece about Danton's. We both like seafood, so that was a great appeal. We were seated quickly in a nice booth. The server, Wendel, was excellent. It was really nice to have the daily specials on a separate page inside the menus. When a staff member lists them verbally, it's hard to recall all the details sometimes. I ordered a bowl of corn-crab bisque. Not only was it delicious, but it was hot enough. In recent months most of the soup I've ordered was lukewarm at best. This stayed warm till the bowl was empty. My husband ordered gumbo and a crab cake appetizer which he enjoyed too. For dessert we each got creme brulee'; it was also superb."

  • "Celebrated a friend's birthday at Danton's. Was quiet enough to visit and carry on a conversation. Food was very good. Must try the peanut butter pie. Louis, our waiter, was attentive, helpful, and friendly. Would definitely ask for his area on my next visit."

  • "Looking for a place that treats blue crab as a main dish rather than just stuffing, this is your place. Great seafood, Oysters and Blue Crab dishes were outstanding. Service was excellent. Definitely going back."
