  • "Started with lobster bisque that was amazing. Followed with baby iceberg salad...fresh, dressing was terrific, huge slice of bacon. We were staying at the beach on Anna Maria and I wanted steak. When I walked in to the restaurant, I couldn't help but drool at the 20 oz strip. It was cooked to perfection...definitely one of the best steaks I have ever had. Service was right on que as well...perfectly timed food arrival, attentive when necessary but not overbearing."

  • "Our visit was for a special occasion, my wife's 50th birthday! We were met at the door by a very nice hostess and promptly seated per our reservation time. The table service was professional and curtious. Our waiter was Danny and he did a great job of making us feel at home and comfortable. The food was excellent, however, my first menu choice was unavailable that night. As I said it was my wife's birthday and the restaurant provided a fantastic chocolate birthday cake perfectly suited for two after a big meal. We have been to all the higher end steak houses in the Tampa area including Berns, Shula's, Charley's, and Flemmings to mention a few and Council Oak is as good as any of them."

  • "We dined Sunday evening for a friends Birthday. There were five of us and we are all in the biz. We decided to eat family style as to not waste to much food as we would be in the casino hours after dinner. I could go on and on about the food & ambiance being wonderful and the band in the bar was superb! But, the service was STELLAR! I am a corporate Director of F&B and two of my guest are Sommeliers and also culinary management execs. We were completely floored to learn that Nick had been with your establishment for such a short period of time. I really don't know how he could have been any more knowledgeable. I would have pegged him as a veteran staff member. Congratulations to you both Council Oak and to Nick on many future successes!"

  • "We frequent Council Oaks @ twice a month- the food, hostesses, & wait staff are some of the finest in Tampa. Council Oak's new GM, Candiiss has little to no people skills; she doesn't care if the customer is happy, even regular diners who had a specific reservation for over a week like we did- & then when called out on a lie- blamed others for our reservation screw up. Absolutely the worst PR skills I've ever witnessed. From some of the other reviews, I'm not the only one who feels like our patronage doesn't matter and had a bad experience with management. The Asst Manager, a new young man, acted more like a GM than she did that's for sure. I feel badly for the dedicated staff that has her for a role model."

  • "We loved everything about the restaurant -- the wait staff, the presentation, the wine selection, the food except for your 60-day new york strip steak. I'm sorry, but the 60-day new york strip had no flavor, was not tender, and the fat was not broken down -- as presented by your server. my husband got the 12 oz (on the menu) new york strip and it was absolutely delicious. The -60-day didn't even compare at all. You may want to try a piece of the 60-day to make sure it lives up to the presentation details. I thought about sending it back, but I didn't want to disrupt the rest of the awesome birthday evening with my husband. I, instead had it bagged up and brought it home to my doggies..... pretty expensive doggie treat!"

  • "As card carrying "regulars" at the Sem. Hard Rock, we've been to C. Oaks several times and have always been completely satisfied. This time was different. The waitress was fine and did everything she could to make us happy but, the wait for the entree was much longer than usual, the salad was kind of blah, my wife's filet was undercooked even though she specified medium and my N. Y. Strip steak was tough. (Have they stopped using Allen's Meats ?) The side dishes were not that appetizing. Perhaps they have made a change in chefs but it was not the type of meal we've grown to expect. Every time we've been there before, the manager has stopped by our table to check out our dining experience but not this time."

  • "My wife and I regularly eat here and enjoy the overall experience. Our waitress was excellent as was all the staff serving us. My wife chose the Sea Bass - and this was just outstanding! We had Soups, Lobster M&C & Creamed Spinach(cold and undercooked). I ordered the Ribeye and asked for it to be cooked medium well. This is the third time ordering the Ribeye here and it was bleeding. The steak was sent back - now charred on the outside still bleeding. The chef here does not know how to cook this big Ribeye correctly. The waitress offered to try one moe time, but at this point our food was getting cold. We enjoy eating here overall but don't get the Ribeye if you enjoy it more on the done side. I'll never order the Ribeye here again."

  • "The title of review says it all! I was taken to Council Oak Hard Rock Tampa as a surprise for my Birthday. I can usually find at least 1 point to complain about, but not this time! Service was spot on, food was spot on atmosphere was spot on! While the wine list is certainly not as extensive as Bern's, they did offer a electic variety of wines at a great price. My suggestions are to ask for a table close to kitchen - you see the entire 'show' that way. Also, ask for Brian, he was an amazing server!"

Highly recommend the Seafood Sampler as your appetizer...it's about as good as the come. Great wine list too.... My only complaint about Council Oak is that you HAVE to walk thru the smoke filled casino to get to it."

  • "My filet was excellent. My wife's lobster was good and the portion was larger than expected. Our problems have been with any sides we order. A week ago I had escargot. It never saw the "salamander" or broiler and was lukewarm. In our second visit in a week, our baked potato was actually cold in the middle and our spinich was too salty to eat. I blamed that on the extra salty cheese used to cover the creamed spinich."

  • "I've been to this restaurant a numerous times and this last visit was the worst. The service was extremely slow, another waitress had to step in half way through the visit to take care of us being that 45 minutes had gone by and our glasses were empty, the appetizer dishes were still at our table and no food was out. Once the food came out, it was cold and the lobster butter they usually serve was just regular melted butter that looked more like oil. As we were finishing the meal, our waitress showed up with our cocktails and our bill. If I ever choose to eat there again, it definitely will not be with this waitress and will not order the lobster at all unless the butter they used to have comes back."

  • "The steak was outrageously good, the rest of the experience left me feeling less than enthusiastic. Dinner for 4 was about $280.00, not too bad. The wait service left a little to be desired. I don't expect someone to be at my beck and call but I do expect a waitress to come by more than 3 times (2 of those we had to ask for her) in an hour. I sat with an empty glass twice for more than 15 minutes each time. The noise level was club loud and took away from the taste of the meal. With all of the pre meal recommendations that people gave me, I was expecting more."

  • "Reliable and lovely food as well as a bustling ambiance. Louder than I would like so be sure to get a booth! The high backs muffle the noise. Only dig is that they can not "pare down" the food for kids. My kids are total foodie and know what they like so when one ordered Mac and cheese without lobster and fries without truffle oil the waiter seemed rattled and in the end they did not accommodate. I do not expect that from fine dining. It was the a ame with gluten free substitutions. My husband was told to just not eat the bread. It was a bit surprising to say the least."

  • "Made reservation to celebrate a birthday...For a Tuesday evening at 7:30, service was lackluster...Beverage service was poor...Fifty minute wait for dinner & it was not busy. Had Filet and was cooked perfect. The table next to ours received a birthday cupcake with a candle and my girlfriend thought she was going to get one too...I did not complain, but it really bothered me since I made a special request in my reservation."

  • "The food and the service were outstanding. Watching the kitchen work is very interesting. The only downside was the noise level, saying it was "energetic" is really a stretch. We were also very pleased to note we were shielded very well from all the cigarette smoke on the casino floor. We really enjoyed the complimentary slice birthday cake, it was unexpected. We will definitely consider a return."

Considering Father's day weekend, it was almost impossible, but management helped and figured out a way so we were able to have a nice, exclusive dinner with our friends and family. Our request was also granted, we asked Eric to serve us. He is very courteous, friendly, funny, and very professional! We appreciate his friendliness and hard work!   • "Ordered a special bone in Kansas City New York Strip steak, but failed to ask the price. HUGE mistake. It was $100. That's not a mistake; ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! Completely improper that they didn't explain the cost. Would never have ordered it. I don't think there is a steak anywhere that's worth $100. My wife had a 9oz. Filet thy was $38 and much better than mine. Be careful and ask for the price on everything."

  • "Reservation @7 made, reconfirmed x2. Arrived 6 min early. Greeted by 2 front desk ladies. Gave name and time of reservation. No response. Stared @computer screen. Finally, one said rudely "Do you have a reservation or not?" Answered Yes and said made res and confirmed it x2. Rude response: Well, then give me your name so I can find it. Shouted my name again above the pounding rock music. Rudely, condescendingly responded: Well, I am trying to find a place to seat you since you are early. I said that I thought that was the point of a res and it was now 7. She again rudely said Give me a moment. I had given her a bunch. I was furious & it was my birthday. Finally seated. Server, Karen and assistant Samuel were fantastic. Food was very good. "
