CoquetteGreat BrunchOur group had a great brunch. Great sauces in interesting combinations. Shrimp and grits were amazing. the coffee was rich and delicious and comes in in a French press.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our New Orleans favorites,Coquette is a first class New Orleans restaurant which uses local foods to create delicious and innovative versions of New Orleans food. We go whenever we are in town. It is impossible to say which is better -- the food or the service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways GreatWe come to NOLA 3 or 4 times a year (kid in college). We have tried many many of the finer restaurants in the city. We always come back to Coquette. It never disappoints -- always great food -- always a terrific dining experience. That said, this time we felt the food had slipped just a bit. It was not quite as good a our prior six visits here, but they all can't be the best. We will certainly keep coming back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAdventurousNo, they don't serve lion or pickled sea urchin. What they do serve is beautiful, delicious and fantastically FRESH! I loved the little touches such as olive praline on the side of the salad--nothing like you'd imagine. My partner was really out there--he had a steak :( It was heavenly! I had catfish on a puree of sweet potato with chow chow and smoked pork. Hard to describe, but it was divine!
Beautiful service, attentive wait staff. Weather was gorgeous, so the front door was open. That's my only complaint--diesel fumes from the street.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you Coquette! This was one of the highlights of a 4 day trip my wife and I took to New Orleans. We came from Oregon and we were very interested in checking out the food scene in NOLA. I spent quite a bit of time researching reviews and decided to make a reservation at Coquette. We were definitely not disappointed. The mostly locally sourced daily changing menu offered a number of unique and delicious items. I particularly liked the tartare w/ oysters and the duck entree. I would also recommend checking out their unique cocktail list. Try the one with Tequila & Aperol. The host, servers, and manager were all extremely friendly and helpful. We were checked on frequently and the food was delivered quickly. Special thanks to the manager for great local tips!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my first choices whenOne of my first choices when deciding where to take my out of town guests. Good service and wonderful food, and I like the feel of the room.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the Prix Fixe LunchWe had the prix fixe lunch special and it was all so delicious. We started with a flavorful gumbo z'herbes followed by the most amazing catfish I have ever had. It was tender and flavorful.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticI would recommend Coquette to any foodie friend in a heart-beat. I can't say enough good things about our lunch here.
The food was New Orleans refined and modern: updated yet very aware of its roots. For example, the fried oysters inside were super tender, outside crispy and not at all greasy, served with pickled green tomatoes diced up into elegant fine little cubes, wioth a smidge of pink, slightly spicy aioli across the bottom.
Excellent cocktails. Good wine list selection.
The feel is such that, at least at lunch-time, I think one feels equally at home here in a dinner jacket or in shorts. Casual is fine, as long as you remain classy. Excellent service.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, interesting and excellentWe came to Coquette following a reception with food, so we were not very hungry. I had an appetizer of fried oysters and beef tartare. It was exceptional. The hot juicy oysters were a lovely contrast to the smooth cold tartar. My husband had a delicious entrée which he thoroughly enjoyed. The wine list was well priced and very good. I liked the ambiance of the place - set in a suburban neighborhood in an older house with tin ceilings and a wonderful bar that was either old or was made to look old. Great high mirrors and beautiful wood work. The waitstaff were most accommodating and pleasant. I wish we had time to go back soon.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved our brunch!Shrimp and grits were simply lovely (even that early in the morning), and the fresh food was a wonderful way to start the morning (and week). Loved the food and service was great.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgood foodExcellant food. Wine list is ok. Service was a little too attentive. Would definitely go again.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not live up to promiseHad Brunch, which was good, but not exceptional. Food was fresh and very well prepared, but scrambled eggs are, after all, just scrambled eggs. And, there was nothing memorable or noteworthy about the Eggs Benedict either. The dinner menu looks more promising and interesting. I would try again because the quality is clearly there - but, Brunch did not live up to the promise (nor the high prices).5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMStylish and deliciousAfter 2 days of amazing food at Jazzfest (aka Mudfest this year!), we decided to clean-up our act and try Coquette for Sunday brunch. Great staff, incredible food (grits were delish) and a beautiful setting. Couldn't have been happier to find this oasis in the Garden District. Can't wait to come back next year!!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Garden District bistroReasonably priced, all the food was fabulous. We were surprised on JazzFest weekend to get a reservation the week of, but things worked out wonderfully. Only glitch was our waitress comped a drink with a forgotten order but we had a great experience. Beautiful building.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPoor recoveryMade reservations weeks in advance, got a second floor table by the window- very nice because of the special occasion We were celebrating
THEN we were asked to move back to another table- very reluctant to do this
No apology from management , no special attention. Very unpleasant when a group with sleeveless tee shirts sit down at our original table
Will not return, poor customer care!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Five in New OrleansThird time at Coquette and we have loved it every time. Its high rating in reviews is well-deserved. Everything from start to finish was excellent. The food is delicious and the service attentive. Shrimp and grits were the best we have had anywhere. Well worth the short trip from downtown or the French Quarter.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely go back....alreadyWill definitely go back....already made reservations for next trip to NO:)5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood valueThe $20 3 course lunch is an outstanding value for a quality meal in New Orleans.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCoquette don't Forget!Great food. Unique and so good! Knowledge of staff was exceptional!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner with my sisterMy sister and I were strolling on magazine and wanted to find a neighborhood place. Coquette fit the bill perfectly. Beautiful building and wonderful food. Very relaxing.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOn our new favorites listMy wife and I have visited New Orleans on three occasions over the years, always looking for fine dining as a priority. Some online research turned up a blog with a review of Coquette and we liked what we read. There is a fulltime pastry chef and bread is baked fresh on site and was a delightful cut above the ordinary. The menu is nouvelle french and features locally sourced ingredients. The food was impeccably prepared and presented, waitstaff was equally impressive and utilize a team approach to table service. Although we didn't order any cocktails, there was an extensive menu and most patrons were indluging and enjoying. We stuck to wine and were pleased with the selections. Highly recommended, we'll be coming back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to expectationThe food was oustanding, even by New Orleans standards. Not one morsel of food was left on anyone's plate. I am still thinking about my duck entree which may have been the best duck I have ever had.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best meals I/we'veOne of the best meals I/we've had. We (5) all sampled each others' choices and they were all outstanding. The service was friendly, fast, and excellent. One of our new favorite places to eat in NO.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely fabulousWe were a party of 4 and everyone ordered something different as well as apps. Everything that came to the table was beautiful and delicious. Top on the list for next trip to NO5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWowGreat dining experience. Very fresh seasonal local ingredients in creative and delicious preparations. Fabulous service with a local eatery feeling. Even in NOLA this restaurant stands out. Highest possible praise.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbiance was wonderful...Ambiance was wonderful... Billy Joel at the next table!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our AnniversaryWe celebrated our Anniversary at Coquette. I read prior reviews that said they received a complimentary glass of Champagne. We were wished a happy anniversary, but no other gestures. The food preparations were unique and delicious. The service was excellent. The upstairs dining room is lovely and the noise level was minimal. I complained to my husband that I thought we would have received a better table given the special occasion (maybe they were already booked). We had a table for 2 facing the side street and I had a fireplace mantel poking me in the back of my head. My husband pointed out that the beautiful floor to ceiling windows facing Magazine St. had obnoxious neon signs illuminating those tables.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant brings ingenuity,This restaurant brings ingenuity, artful presentation and great taste together and ties it up with a bow. What a great experience!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMUnforgettable! My fiance and I would both say that it is perhaps the best meal we've ever had while dining out. A highlight of our trip to New Orleans. Delicious and unique and better than our imaginations would have suggested. We will absolutely eat at Coquette every time we return to New Orleans and recommend it to all of our friends. This review may sound overly generous but that is how great the meal was.
I had the halibut and she had the scallops. We also ordered the strawberry cream desert and the chocolate pudding. Unforgettable!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great service.Great food, great service. Menu is small but everything was delicious.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional gourmet offerings!Fortunately we were seated upstairs where we could hear each other talk. When we finished and walked downstairs, the noise level was very loud which was probably fine for the younger diners filling that area. I was grateful we'd been seated upstairs.
The food was sensational! Two of us had the asparagus soup, prepared with both a puree of both cooked asparagus, and uncooked asparagus, then swirled with a green oil. I'd go back again just for the soup, though since the menu changes daily, I might get to try another winner of a soup next time. My husband had the salad, a beautiful presentation and wonderfully delicious with exotic flavors. The rest of dinner was equally good and the service was all one could wish for.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of New OrleansThis was by far the best restauranr in New Orleans. The food was original and prepared to perfection. The deserts were beyond outstanding. Rates up there with some of the best anywhere.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time in NOLAMy first trip to New Orleans and this was our one planned dinner over three days. I love food and trying new places. The foodies on chowhound consistently raved about Coquette and for good reason. The service was solid, well-timed. The food was delicious, even if the portions were smaller than we'd have liked. Wine list was thoughtful. We were at a corner table near the front of the second floor dining room. The decor was beautiful and warm, but once the sun went down it was a little too dark as the chandeliers were over other tables. An easy fix is votives on the tables. My only criticism. All in all, we really enjoyed Coquette.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM$20 3-course lunch is a great$20 3-course lunch is a great deal! Food is always on par. Best skirt steak in town.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic, asThe food was fantastic, as much care with the ancillary ingredients as with the main ingredient. Nothing was an afterthought; everything worked together beautifully. We had a beautiful salad, steak tartar with fried oysters, scallops and catfish with a great chow chow. Staff were wonderful and conscientious. Best meal in New Orleans 4 day trip! They did everything just right.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent meal. Tartare withExcellent meal. Tartare with fried oysters different and delicious. Cavatelli just right. Soft-shell crab a big hit, as was the duck breast with two contrasting hot and sweet sauces. We were proud members of the clean plate club.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive and talented chefOnew of the best restaurants I have been eating in USA. The taste and presentation of the dishes were perfectly matching, with very inventive recipies and perfectly fresh ingredients. Short menu, with only few positions from each category is always a good sign, being a good indication of food made to the moment. We have been delighted with the appetizers, which were both refreshing and right in size (and this freshly baked bread!!!). Entrees full of perfectly composed flavors and colors. And to our surprise similarly inventive desserts, which is quite rarly the case - most chefs specialise either in cooked dishes or desserts. The chef needs to be truly applauded for his talent.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service!Arrived early for our reservation and were greeted warmly, seated immediately. Service was amazingly fast though we did not feel rushed. Steak tartare / fried oysters "small plate" starter was unusual and tasty; sweetbreads were delicately flavored ("hot sauce" wasn't really hot) and tender. "Large plate" entrees were equally delicious: halibut and tender, delicious pork cheeks. Servings were ample but not overwhelming. I especially remember enjoying each bite of just great flavor, as if the chef knew my palate. Caution - menu changes frequently, so don't get your heart set on a specific dish. We opted for wines by the glass, of which there was a reasonable selection of good wines. Our first evening in New Orleans–a good choice.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a truly deliciousThis was a truly delicious meal! Everything was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The salad I had was a work of art and the citrus dressing and olive praline were unique and delicious. My scallops were perfectly seared. The other members of our party also found their food to be exceptional.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful dining experienceI've been to Coquette about 15 times this past year alone. The food is consistent: always incredibly delicious and perfectly sized portions so if you're part of the clean plate club like me, you don't feel gross afterward - and that even includes dessert. Great cocktails, good wine list. Reasonable prices, wonderful and accommodating service. You can't beat it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMImaginative menu selectionsImaginative menu selections with seasonal choices render it an unique dining experience. On the prix fixe menu, the portions are tiny to the point that staff needs to warn the diner. I was disappointed that the menu item I wanted was only available with the prix fixe menu. Service was excellent and wine selections had enough variety to accommodate the varied menu.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHard to beat a $20 pre-fixe lunchThe food was great, very reasonably priced (at least compared to Washington, DC, where I live) and the service was friendly. It's hard to beat a $20 three course lunch. We ate outside, so it was hard to judge the noise level. The inside looked very charming, though. The service was friendly and attentive. I'd love to return for dinner.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible Meal start to finishOne of the best meals we have had in recent years. Innovative but not gimmicky. Intense, clean flavors and perfect textures with a particularly amazing way with vegetables and fruits. Love the creative, interesting and delicious desserts and cocktails.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time! It wasWe had a great time! It was our first time in New Orleans and we loved the food. The quail was delicious.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMthis was the most memorablethis was the most memorable dining experience we had in New Orleans. The food was outstanding...i loved the atmosphere and our server made the birthday celebration special and fun.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy third visit - with differentMy third visit - with different groups each time, all of whom said they too would be back! I certainly will be.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, as usual.I love Coquette. So much so that I had my rehearsal dinner there last year. This last meal was no exception. The service was great and, while I did not enjoy my entree, I believe it is because I am just not familiar with triple tail fish. It was rather fishy tasting, which I do not care for. The desserts and coffee, however, were outstanding. There were four of us and we each got a different dessert: the deconstructed strawberries and cream, the old fashioned doughnut with sour cream ice cream and blueberry compote, the banana cream pie and the double chocolate out-of-this-world good dessert with candied andouille. We all sampled each others and they were all amazing. This place is a gem and I highly recommend it to all.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLeft a note with my reservationLeft a note with my reservation that my hubby was deploying and this was one of our last dinners in Nola. Waitress was fantastic and comped us some dessert wine and a dessert and thank us for our service. Was very sweet.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe opted for the Tasting menuWe opted for the Tasting menu while at Coquette for a fun eat & drink weekend with friends in New Orleans. Coquette was the restaurant of choice for our first night in New Orleans and it was, most definately, the highlight of our gestational journey that continued over the next several days. Each selection was creative, intriguing and, most importantly, delicious. I would definately put Coquette on my list of "musts" for any visit to New Orleans.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful! The food was amazing a d creative. The meal was delicious, but the desserts blew us way - especially the chocolate mousse with sea salt ice cream!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AM
