Wind down the day with a classic cocktail at the bar, or enjoy a warm lobster roll outside on the covered, open-air patio overlooking Santa Monica Boulevard.

  • "I've been meaning to try this restaurant for weeks...as it's just down the street. The occasion finally came when a buddy suggested we go to C&T for lobster rolls. The restaurant is well designed and lively. We started with the calamari and the oysters Rockefeller...I thought both appetizers were just average with the Rockefeller being really bland. Then came the lobster rolls...AMAZING...the lobster was well prepared. I chose warm lobster (my buddy chose cold)...our goal was to share...that never happened. Then for dessert we had the Blondie with vanilla ice cream...again...AMAZING. The meal finished on a high note and totally recovered from the lackluster appetizers. I'll definitely go back...just chose different appetizers next time."

  • "My wife and I both love Boston and Maine for the abundance of fresh seafood and Ted and Connie's is the closest you can get in the Los Angeles area. The lobster roll and fried clams were both wonderful. New England clam chowder would be better with more cream. We will return many times to this great restaurant."

Prices equal to or higher than real fish eateries. Noise level precludes conversation. Ambience/decor suitible for children + parents burdened with ADD. A theme park restaurant without an articulate theme. Nuff said!"

  • "Tried the swordfish, fish and chips, mac and cheese and a couple desserts. Swordfish was a tiny bit overcooked but everything was delicious. Definitely skip the appetizer and save room for desert! Got great service while waiting for our reservation and our waitress was on it too. Thought it might be a bit fancier inside but it's actually super casual."

  • "I have heard so much about Connie and Ted's and it was a tough reservation to get so you can imagine how excited I was to go try it for my birthday. One word to describe the experience...MEH. As crazy as this sounds, I thought the food was totally oversalted. From my friend's grilled fish to the french fries that came with my lobster roll, everything had one dominant seasoning and that was salt. Not sure if it was an off-night in the kitchen but I was not impressed. As for the service, the consensus from my party was that we felt very rushed by the staff, mainly the busboys. It felt like they were hovering all night and taking plates of food away before they were finished. All in all, the experience was a disappointment."

  • "My guest and I were very happy with our initial visit to Connie and Ted's. We were offered a selection of tables and elected to sit under the covered patio. Prompt and helpful server explained the many styles of oysters and wine options. The food was brought to our table in an orderly fashion and well presented. I would definitely invite other clients to try this place."

  • "This really is a beautiful restaurant -- one of the most beautiful new spaces in LA I've seen. And yet very casual. The patio is particularly nice. Above the street level noise and with plentiful warmers, the patio is the perfect place for this food. And the food is good -- casual, but good. The stuffies are particularly good as is the lobster roll and clear broth chowder. The wine list is well chosen to go with seafood and there are some great beers here too. The problem? The PRICE. Out the door, I spent 55 bucks per person -- that's a lot for clam shack food."

  • "From hosts to server to bus staff, would characterize service as unaccountably pretentious and tone deaf for a casual restaurant Entrees took an hour to arrive, but numerous kitchen staff standing around; multiple servers disturbed table constantly trying to take away drinks and serving dishes party members were working on, but leaving table abandoned when looking for dessert/the check Food uneven and felt overpriced (e.g. NE Boiled Dinner-not much in the bowl, flavorless, no spoon served with) - again, pretentious, for portion sizes; desserts (Indian Pudding, Blondie) tasteless, but preceded buy usual raves from staff Three visits, each experience a little worse each time - cannot return or recommend."

I started with the stuffies, followed by the lobster roll (hot) accompanied by cole slaw - everything was excellent. My friend started with the manhattan clam chower and thought it was "meh" - devoid of much flavor and not enough clams. She enjoyed the fish and chips. We also shared a half order of the clam cakes and were very disappointed - they were very gummy, didn't seem to have a lot of clams, and the clams that were caught in the batter on the exterior were hardened to the point of our wondering whether they were bits of clam shells. Service was excellent."

  • "Connie and Ted's is authentically East Coast, and I am so thrilled they are located in my hood. I am a transplant from Maine with a family of fishermen, clammers, and lobstermen, so I know my seafood. Connie and Ted's serves steamers like the kind I used to dig and steam! They are delicious and the taste is so fresh that if I didn't know any better, I'd think I was back home. The lobster rolls are the real deal. Every dish I've tried is made to perfection. Even the whoopie pies taste homemade! The staff is very kind. I have never felt put off by any of the servers. They aren't terribly pushy, though the tables have been full with a wait every time I've been there. If you are a true seafood lover, you owe it to yourself to try this place."

  • "This was our second visit, and as before, all of the fish was done to perfection. Even the plain and simple fish, which is grilled, was delicious. Their sides can be a mixed bag, however. The brussels sprouts were good, the mac & cheese not so much. The stuffiness were jam packed with flavor and the fried calamari was tender. The main restaurant is very noisy, so we ask to sit in the outside section, which is much better (& still protected)."

Chilled Shrimp (must order these) - even the cocktail sauce was great, Grilled Calamari - one of the best red sauces I've had in ages, Oysters, Lobster Roll w/ butter - bread was great, too, Mac & Cheese. Our friend loved the Manhattan Clam Chowder and the Burger. We will definitely be back."

  • "This was a mediocre experience at best. The food was ok. The lobster in the roll lacked flavor and the bun was really dry and over toasted. At $24, it's not worth it. Cousin's Maine Lobster does it way better for half the price. The portions were small overall for the cost. The seafood did appear fresh and the broth was really tasty in my New England Boiled dinner, but again, overpriced for what you get. Not a great beer selection either. To be fair, I didn't try any of the oysters on the half shell. I usually LOVE those. There may be other items on the menu that would have been more impressive."

  • "Took my mom to dinner, as we are transplanted New Englanders (RI and MA) and love Ipswich clams with bellies. Our waiter recommended a very tasty Pilsner for our clam dinner. We started with clams on the half shell - big, briny and super ice-cold, and clam cakes. These were good, but a bit different from the ones that we've enjoyed at Sandy's Clam Shack down the Cape. Sandy's has more of a fish 'n chip-type batter and the insides were 'cakier' than C & T's. After that we got a bucket of steamed Ipswich clams and a basket of fried Ipswich clams. No food was left on the table except the neglected french fries. Anxious to try other tasty-looking dishes in the future! Recommended to friends already! Thanks for the yum!"

  • "We looked forward to our visit and we were blown away by the ambiance, the service and of course the food. Our server was terrific. She handled our special cocktail requests with ease. She was helpful in suggesting some great dishes. I love oysters and when I said that I wanted larger not smaller she suggested "naked cowboys". Wow! We are coming back next week with a friend and intend to make it a regular stop for us."

  • "Best wait staff I can recall experiencing. They were truly invested in my party's dining, and were knowledgeable of the dishes on the menu. Even were able to accurately describe the types of oysters and the fresh caught fish they were serving. My server had the enthusiasm more akin to the owner of an establishment, not a paid employee. The freshness of the food was everything I would hope for in a seafood restaurant. I cannot wait to return. A+"

  • "If you're from the east coast and find there is a shortage of restaurants in LA that don't know how to make real fried clams, New England-Style, the go to Connie & Ted's. They also have lobster rolls and raw oysters! It's very noisy inside, so ask to sit out on the patio. They take limited reservations and cater mostly to walk-ins. But, the wait is not too bad- have a cocktail and sit on the patio off the bar area in a rocking chair and chill til your table is ready."

  • "Tons of food choices for everyone-Fresh Santa Barbara sea urchin & Portugese fish stew for foodie friend-steak & mac'n'cheese for the kids. Chowda sampler & lobster roll for me-steamed clams for husband. GREAT margarita & 4 different kinds of interesting beers ordered. Friendly, helpful & nice waiter-loved the hot towels to clean your hands at the end. Fun & buzzy place for Sat. night-sit outside if you can !"
