A word from Cinghiale - Enoteca (Wine Bar)
The Enoteca at Cinghiale celebrates the modern Italian table. It is designed to be a playful section of the restaurant, as well as a gathering place; the center of downtown where everyone goes to meet over business and social occasions. The space has a lively urban bustle that features rich woods, wrought iron chandeliers and a handcrafted marble tile floor. The centerpiece is a 40-ft mustard-yellow marble bar flanked by two bronze wild boar sculptures that appear to be lunging into the space from the wild. Adjacent to the main bar is a Salumeria that features traditional meats, cheeses and antipasti; each prepared in open view. The Enoteca staff is highly trained on Italian wines and looks forward to serving you from the over 400 label selection. There are approximately 40 wines by the glass. Food & Wine magazine recognized Cinghiale for having one of the best new wine lists in the country for 2008.Continued

  • "I had heard really great things about this place and I was excited to try it. Finding upscale food that is safe for a Celiac to eat, can sometimes be a challenge. The restaurant itself is lovely. And while they had lots of gluten free options, I must say the portions were small. Giant plates only emphasized just how small the servings were. Between a table of 4, with an app, meat/cheese course and entrees, our bill was $250. For that price, I should have felt satisfied. But I felt like I could have gone home an eaten a snack."

  • "Went here last week with friends. The restaurant was lovely and the food was excellent. However, the waiter kept bothering us every few minutes wanting to take our dessert and it started to get rude. I kept telling him no and he kept coming back asking. It was as if he wanted us to leave. He didn't do it until the dessert came and it was around 11pm. I am just shocked to receive such a message from such a nice restaurant. But of course I would recommend this place for a special occasion or a romantic date night. The food was great."

  • "This restaurant is a little formal for us, but the quality of food and the interest of the menu makes it a clear choice for special occasions. The salad I had with guinea fowl and cured egg yolk sounded odd but it was exceptional and simple. I would return next week to eat the same dish. Pasta with ramps and sugar snap peas didn't really need the snails, but the dish was outstanding. It had so many vegetables, I loved it. 50 % off wine on tues night makes it more fun to try different wines from the large list."

  • "Cinghiale occupies a rare space in the Baltimore restaurant scene; a world class restaurant with a combination of unparalleled wine list, regionally inflected cuisine, ambiance and service that would make it a stand out in ANY major restaurant city in the world. It reminds me of the sort of restaurant one would find in Turin (Torino),Italy, with its strength in Piemontese wines and cuisine, infused with elements of other Italian cuisines (the salted cod filet, finished off with an affogato- divine). The sommelier and staff are extraordinary, and help take your dining experience to another level. I have eaten here many times over the past seven years, and this recent experience was the best. Bravo Tony and Cindy!!!"

  • "We have dined at Cinghiale many times and have always enjoyed our dinner. The last time we were there, the wait staff was snippy. The restaurant was not crowded and it was not late so I can't think of an excuse. I ordered a glass of wine and it took 20 minutes to arrive at the table! When dinner arrived, the meal was disappointing. I am sorry to see this favorite has slipped! "

Server was n.a. Would recommend strongly that you mark the dishes, accordingly. Went away hungry...not sure about another visit."

  • "When I called the restaurant to let them know that I needed to change my 8:30 reservation to 9:00. I was told "That's fine, but the kitchen closes at 10, so you may feel rushed.", which is EXACTLY how I felt. From the moment I sat down I felt that the restaurant was winding down and that the staff was more concerned with their closing responsibilities than making sure I had a good dining experience. I was very confused as to who my actual server was, I had 1 person seat me, a different person take my drink order, a different person take my dinner order and someone else run my food. No one checked in on me, and I actually had to ask someone who my server was! If a fast-food experience is your thing, then this is the best place in town!"

  • "After reading much praise and having an excellent bread basket and delicious olive oil as well as a very good first course of beets and ricotta, the rest of the meal never lived up to the promise of the start. Over cooked pasta clumped together under a lack of sauce and the dessert budino featured a dry cake (but very good sorbetto). A pretty skimpy wine pour too and when a glass costs $17, I don't expect a filled-to-the-top glass but I do expect my full ounces. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back when I'm next in B'more. Too many other places to try."

  • "Overall our experience at Cinghaile was nice. Asked for date night reservations and got a nice romantic table for 2 next to a window which looked out towards the harbor (unfortunately there is a construction project at the moment). The wine list was a massive tome and I was in over my head so I had the server bring us 2 glasses of white. We did the Della Nonna pris fix menu and unfortunately both of our entrees were overly salty and not very enjoyable. It was the only disappointing moment in the experience and dessert was superb."

  • "Dined here before and it was fantastic! I brought a friend here from out of town. My experience this night did not meet expectations. Hopefully it was just an off night for chef and waitress. Tagliatelle was over cooked and completely stuck together. Sauce was unable to coat pasta. Waitress graciously offered to bring something else, so ordered the large portion of rabbit cannelloni. When arrived, it was the small plate. By the time 2 more arrived in 15 min I was sufficiently digested but ate it anyway. Guest brought a glass of wine she didn't order. Lamb bruschetta was divine and leg of lamb was very good. Rabbit pasta was velvety and the creamy sauce was perfect compliment. The pairings the wine steward chose were perfect."

  • "As always our dinner at Cinghiale was wonderful. Even though we make a mistake and booked a table in the Enoteca instead of the Osteria (main dining room), he was gracious and seat us in the main dining room at one of our favor server's tables. The food was suberb and reflected the talents of Chef Marotocci. The pasta all home made and seasoned just right!! The problem with the food is what not to order as all the dishes are so outstanding. Our waiter Max L was great as usual. He always remembers our wine and brings it to the table without us asking. There isnt better Italian food anyplace. Well worth our hour's drive!!"

  • "I had made a reservation for 6 at 5:00 when the restaurant first opened. Although we were the only ones in the restaurant for some time we were seated at a door right next to the entrance ( ambiance-none). I did request to be moved to another table even before we were seated and we were refused. the table I requested did not get filled until 7:00. I had made my reservation more then a week in advance so I am not sure why we got such a poor table location. The food was good but the way we were told that we could not move or were not offered another table even if the one I pointed out was reserved left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). Not sure I will ever return."

Comp valet parking before you even enter. Attentive and informed hosts and servers. Enjoyed everything we ordered--ravioli, short ribs, soups, cheese plate, etc. Outstanding wine list with bottles for every budget. On our most recent visit, we were seated in the beautiful wine room--quiet and elegant. If you are looking for an authentic Italian Osteria--and really reasonable in cost for a high end experience, this is a must try. And we are already wondering when we can get back on a future trip to town."
