  • "The staff and owner are great; they are very welcoming. We had the veal and the seared scallops. Both were excellent with great presentation. My only complaint is the price being charged for bottles of wine. Their mark-up is very high. Since we enjoy good wines, we are very aware of the prices of wine. It is so discouraging to see a restaurant have a 4X mark-up! This type of mark-up puts me off and immediately causes me to question the scruples of the restaurants. Restaurants would sell more wine and have happier customers if they did not try to make such a killing on bottles of wine. Not much of an offering for wines by the glass. Very nice desserts. The service and the food saved the day."

He checks on your experience throughout the meal, but not too much. The food is exquisite. I had the Wiener Schnitzel and you could cut it with a fork. Absolutely delicious!"

He, and they, remember our favorite table, our favorite wines, our favorite dishes, etc. We just returned from Las Vegas, having dined at some of the best restaurants that city has to offer, and I must say that the level of service Carlos provides far eclipses anything we experienced in Vegas. Dining at Carlos' Bistro is a treat that we enjoy a few times a year, and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience what dining at a fine restaurant should be."

  • "We have lived in CS for 22 years and feel we have dined at all the best places. WE WERE WRONG!!! Somehow we have missed Carlos Bistro?? We made an early reservation last firday for our 22nd anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Carlos met us at the door with a warm greeting- everything we ordered exceeded our expectations- the wine, the oysters, the tartar, the soup, the salad, and the pork chop. Sadly we did not have room for dessert.... We spent 3 hours slowly enjoying our meal- and felt very attended to. My husband travels frequently for work and has had the chance to dine at many wonderful dining establishments throughout the world- to our surprise one of the best places to eat is right in our own home town!!!!"

  • "The restaurant is in our neighborhood but we hadn't been there for a few years. That won't happen again. The wait service was wonderful and and the owner, Carlos, stopped by our table three times to check on us. The atmosphere is cozy and sophisticated. We started with wine and cocktails, she the white wine, a reiseling from Idaho that she loved and me with a vodka martini that was generous and perfectly mixed. For dinner she had the sea scallops on a bed of wild rice and I had the etouffe along with the blue crab salad that we shared. For dessert we ordered the bourdeaux cherries in whip cream. All of it was served in a timely and professional manner and was delicious. One of the best dining experiences we've ever had, any where."

  • "We had the lobster salad and just kept talking about the lobster all night. It was cooked so well, I forgot I was in a land locked state. I would also suggest trying the Shrimp Creole. The owner came about a couple of times to be sure things were going well. Service was very attentive but not overbearing. First time here and I would love to go back."

  • "It had been a long time since we had been at Carlos' Bistro. The food was always great but the wine cost was out of line with the restaurant menu and setting. We went because of Valentine's Day . However, Carlos has reduced his wine by the glass cost to be competitive with other restaurants of similar quality. Thank you. We really enjoyed our dinner and the service. The expanded menu was a treat as well!"

  • "We ordered a dozen oysters promised to be fresh and delicious. The oysters were old and whomever shucked them did it incorrectly. Brittle pieces of shell grazed the palate instead of the yummy oyster, which wasn't yummy. The ceviche was less about ceviche and more about the onion and celery plate. The waiter dropped the celery off the serving plate on our table and left it where it. Well played. The wine however was excellent! When our waiter came back to ask if we weren't hungry as to why there was a great deal of food not eaten we replied that the oysters were old. He promptly took them away, without spilling, and came back with our full check. Not too impressed."

  • "I hadn't been to Carlos' Bistro is several years, but I'm glad I went back. The seafood was phenomenal!!!! We started dinner with tuna tartar and fried clams appetizers. The tuna tartar was a generous serving of delicious raw tuna mixed with herbs. The clams were huge Ipswich clam bellies, batter dipped and fried. Almost enough for a meal by themselves. For the main course, we had Fruit De Mare and Cioppino. Both were loaded with mussels and clams, very large shrimp and scallops. After the appetizers, we ended up taking most of the main courses home. The service was outstanding without being intrusive. Carlos stopped by to chat and told us he has the seafood flown in daily from Boston. Want to write more, but ran out of space."

  • "We had dinner at Calros' Bistro on Friday. This was our first visit to the restaurant. Carlos greeted us outside as we were going into the restaurant; a very likeable host! The special of haddock was fresh and delicious and the veal scaloppini excellent. The presentation for both meals was beautiful. The ambiance is lovely with beautiful interior decoration. We definitely plan to go back."

  • "This place came very highly recommended by fellow workers. I found the entree's over priced and under flavored. I had the lamb chops and I asked for med rare and they came out medium which made them less than tender and less flavorful. My date had the veal and it was flavorless. The tab including tip was almost $200 of course that was three drinks, two apps and dessert but I would not have minded had the dinner had more flavor."

  • "We were greeted and introduced before we walked in the door by the restaurant owner himself. He led us to a quiet table by the window. The ambiance was sublime--so romantic. Beautiful atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive. They came by our table several times to check on us or prepare us for the next course. The food was the best I've had in a long time. You can tell the owner is passionate about what he does. The whole experience was wonderful. This just bumped its way to #1 for me. Highly recommend!"

  • "We were greeted by Carlos which was nice and called the wrong name initially. Service was timely at the beginning, but as the restaurant filled, service slacked. There was too much chipolte sauce on the tenderloin and such a mound of onions on the Peruvian ribeye that it occupied half the plate. We were never asked if we wanted a cup of coffee. It was very noisy and at times we could not hear each other and had to join the crowd around us and shout to be heard over a small table. I felt the wine list was focused too much on the upper end and certainly was not balanced price wise. Overall, too expensive for what was received."
