Cafe NormandieAmazing (as always)My wife and I ate here with another couple and had yet another amazing meal. It is well worth the cost of a babysitter to say the least! Our server was excellent and did a great job helping us select a perfect wine and food. The meal was amazing - from the tomato bisque to the salmon with blueberries to veal chop and creme brulee we all enjoyed the amazing food.
Best of all our server was not trying to rush us out of the place - each of the courses were well spaced and allowed us to enoy our meal and have plenty of time to talk and relax. We ended up being there close to 3 hours by the time we finally left! We love Café Normandie and can’t wait to go again!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealUsed Open Table and made note it was wife's Birthday. Apparently they did not get the message.
Food and service excellent. Small tables are close together and we had two loud couples next to us discussing 80's basketball! Not a sports bar!
Oterwise, a good find.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, as alwaysThis has been a favorite since moving here in '99. How they make their roasted chicken with rosemary au jus so moist and flavorful time after time is a marvel to me. And that it is on the specialty menu with a glass of wine and salad for under $20 is even more of a marvel. And the service is attentive without being overbearing. Thank you for another lovely meal!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMPOST RUN DINNERAppetizers for 3 started us out. I had the gazpacho with the crab, sister got the baked brie with honey and almonds and 1 niece got the escargots. All were very good. Main specials were abundant. Both nieces got steak with a sauce, sister did a salad of Belgian Endive, beets, walnuts and roquefort cheese and I had a special of quail with wild mushrooms & sauce. Creme brulee - this could have been done better, the creme was way too firm, almost curdlike. The profitterols were to die for and enough for all 4 of us. My gf niece opted for icecream with chocolate syrup and a dollop of whipped cream. France DOES make the best Pinot Noir on the planet!! Thank you Travis for such excellent service. Would love to come back and bring Hubby next time.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal with a french twist!First of all, we arrived from out of town slightly late for our reservation, the staff was extremely gracious. The standout appetizer was fresh oysters- they were delicious. We remained in a seafood mood with 3 people opting for fish and one for the duck. The salmon with blueberries was a great summer dish and everyone raved about the seabass special. We all agreed on some french wine - which our server was extremely knowledgable about and helped us pick out a great bottle. We also had some great conversation about french wines and visiting France. Our Baltimore friends had never dined there before - so we happy to show them another Annapolis gem of a restaurant.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic Dinner for two!Romantic, quiet atmosphere; great service and the food was wonderfully prepared. Look forward to eating there again very soon.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! The interior is somewhat dated, but the food and the service were both excellent. We started with the escargots appetizer, which we both enjoyed even though we were inexpert at the extraction process! My husband was delighted with his duck entree, and pronounced the au gratin potatoes the best he's ever tasted. My sea bass with artichokes and asparagus was cooked and seasoned to perfection, and they were able to accommodate my special dietary considerations by using a different sauce. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. And the music-both playlist and volume-were perfect (this seems a small detail, but it does make a difference in ones overall experience). We will certainly go back!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of Paris in AnnapolisFirst visit to Cafe Normandie on a Sunday evening. Food was outstanding, and service was just as outstanding as the food. We shared escargots and spinach salad as appetizers. I had the Veal Francaise and my significant other had Chilean Sea Bass with artichokes and asparagus. Both entrees were beautifully presented. We shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc - reasonably priced and delicious. We shared Crepe Suzanne for dessert. Yummy. Our server, Hilary, was excellent. She gave us good recommendations and was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Birthday DinnerMy grilfriend and I were visiting Annapolis by boat and she picked Cafe Normandie for her birthday dinner. It was just perfect for the occasion. The food was excellent and the service was perfect without being too fussy. Would definately return for good tradional French dining.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWas a wonderful breakfast. Only noted item was a bit skimpy food-wise for the price that was paid. Waffles and strawberries were the best ever had - so light. Wonderful little place.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good, but...Our waiter, Travis, was excellent, the food was very good. But my wine needed another few years in the bottle before it should have been served - they should know their wine better. And in spite of having made reservations and the restaurant not being all that crowded, I was given a table next to the entry to the kitchen. I might go back, but there are so many other choices, it would be hard to justify.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe did an early Mothers DayWe did an early Mothers Day Dinner a week before. We all had great food as always. We all love the preperations. The fish, meats etc. The salmon with blueberries is a winner, I always do the fish special. We will be back.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood value, excellent food,Good value, excellent food, extensive wine list by the glass which is always appreciated for weekday dining:)4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE this place. We go allLOVE this place. We go all the time and have never had a bad meal. Everything is always awesome. Get the brie with honey and almonds, the French onion soup, and the Annapolis crepe!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Annual TreatMy wife and I were married at the courthouse in Annapolis 11 years ago. That evening that evening we had dinner at Cafe Normandie, just the two of us. We try to return there every year on our anniversary and never have we failed to have an excellent meal there.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was even better thanFood was even better than our expectations. Was shocked - pleasantly - that the escargot came as a full order of 12 rather than only 6 as is common in the U.S.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent without High Brow attitudThey have a great deal, $27 3 course prix fix but you have to order before 6:30.
That's easy for us because our dinner time is keyed to our 13 year old son. In helping my not at all "food adventurous" son pick an appetizer, the restaurant owner described pate as "similar to meatloaf". My son finished the pate and wants to go back for more. He also called his steak, as good as he had ever had. My Trout Almondine was delightful - not at all fishy.
We'll definitely go back.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been dining at CafeWe've been dining at Cafe Normandie for thrity years and alwys find it a satisfying dining experience. The friendly ambi4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove It!Our favorite Annapolis restaurant. Their Bouillabaisse is to die for!!!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLong time visitor to Annapolis,Long time visitor to Annapolis, first time dining at Cafe Normandie. The occasion was our 30th wedding anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will return.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent veal francaiseof the four of us who dined there, three of us had veal and one had seabass - all were excellent. I had the veal francaise and loved it.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service andGreat food and service and loved that they continued the restaurant week menu! The tables are tight...so, if you want some privacy this may not be the place. You can if it's not a busy night and get a table in the corner. Wish the fireplace was on... it was cold outside and this would have been nice to see. Otherwise - great food and presentation. Good portions!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and great service.Amazing food and great service. I read lots of the reviews about the bad service. My husband and I got there a few minutes late, used a coupon and asked lots of questions...and our waiter was excellent - very attentive and nice. He even ran back to catch the kitchen to make a last minute change I made to my order. Their french onion soup is the best I've ever had. We also had the escargot...they did a great job.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
