  • Private Party Facilities: We have The English Garden surrounding the stone fireplace. This accomodates parties up to fifty people. We also have The Library which accomodates up to 33 people. The two areas are adjacent to each other and can accomodate 80 people total. The bungalow also will make the entire restaurant available which has a negotiated price.

  • "We dine at high end restaruants quite a bit. Wanted to try a quality steakhouse other than a chain like Capital Grille which we get in our hometown of Denver. The Marriott Near Fashion Mall in Newport Beach recomended this. Problem is the desk clerks cant usually afford thus appreciate quality food & service thus we view their recomendations with skeptisicsm. This was a prime example. Lacksidasical unprofessional server & very mediocre food. Nothing else needs to be said. If you like & appreciate fine dinning don't waste a meal here. Some of the other Open Table reviews should have tipped us off."

  • "This is my second review, and I'd just like to say that the place is consistently good. We arrived around 8pm on a brisk Wednesday evening and decided to brave the patio, because it was empty. We sat right next to the fire place, and between that and the heat lamps it was very warm. Certainly one of the more romantic atmosphere's I've ever dined in. Thanks, Bungalow!"

  • "It was our first time at this restaurant and were very disappointed by their poor customer service from the host/hostess to the waiter, no one greeted us with a smile or a nice welcome. There was no warm and friendly services what so ever in this restaurant. Staff looked unhappy and under stress They totally killed our jolly mood. the extra small tables were too close to each other. The food was delicious but the waiter got almost everything wrong. the salad didnt have tomato, they brought only one of the two side we ordered and since we were rushed to pay and leave, we didn't notice that we were charged for two sides until the next day. There are plenty of great other places in OC with wonderful, warm hospitality. We will not go back. ."

  • "Had not been to the Bungalow for some time and needed a close by restaurant to CDM. We were in a tiny booth, which did not allow for any elbow room. We ordered calamari and scallops as appetizers. The calamari was huge -- really too large for an appetizer and entirely splitable. The scallops were good, but the risotto with fava beans was not the best and not really like risotto, more like a rice mixture. The entrees were the filet mignon on the bone and the short rib. Both were very good, but not stellar. Filet on the bone was close to $50 -- which is high. There are many better steak places in the OC that are far better."

  • "After living in Newport Coast for 12 years we finally decided to try the Bungalow. So glad we did. I asked for a quiet table, I am hearing impaired, and they had one waiting for us. Not something that happens with most restaurants. The atmosphere, the decor, the staff, the crowd, all were upbeat. The patrons were of all ages. I would say the average was 30-50 years old. Lovely patio area, great bar, upstairs dining and quiet downstairs dining area. And the food was excellent. Beginning with the fresh, warm, and slightly sweet, sourdough rolls. Artichoke was the best my husband has had anywhere. The pear salad fantastic. We will definitely be retuning."

  • "Been here many time but dinner was a diaster. My fish was over cooked as was my friends pork. My wife could not eat her chicken because it was infected with salt! The manager said it was a bad night and credited our dinner. Don't know what has changed, we have been coming here for years , but it was a really bad meal!"

  • "We walked into the bar area which was quite busy and noisy as a typical bar area. We decided to eat outside in their covered patio area with fireplace going. Wonderful ambiance. It as quiet until a very large group came and sat down, but even with that it was worth it. The food was excellent. We started with a grilled artichoke, followed with a beet salad and split an entree of the evening's fish special which was Escolar topped with grilled shrimp. An outstanding meal and the flavors were incredible. Definitely worth a repeat."

  • "We were not overwhelmed by our recent experience and I don't think that we will return. We were there to celebrate a special day that I had mentioned upon making the reservation and it was never acknowledged while we were there at dinner. We've never been to a restaurant that didn't do something thoughtful for an occasion…especially when you are paying the prices you do here. The patio is very beautiful, but they will not guarantee seating unless you purchase the area for an event. I was told they have events booked for $1000 to $3500 and average 2 to 3 times per week. We did not get to sit in the patio area due to an event. The place is charming, but so over priced for what you get that we left feeling disappointed."

  • "We were looking for something relatively quiet for dinner with friends from out of town. Once again, Bungalow delivered. We enjoyed a 21/2 meal and were never rushed. The group split evenly between the NY strip and swordfish. Each was well-prepared and excellent. The corn chowder was an excellent call and the caesar was predictably good. The service was attentive, but relaxed. I have time and time chosen Bungalow for both business and family dinners and have never been disappointed."

Hubby ordered the New York and it was cooked perfectly! Our waiter was attentive even though they were really busy. He made some great suggestions to the group. Will definitely recommend this place and will return."

  • "We had a gift certificate for the Bungalow so I was more than happy to give it a try. Very expensive. However, my hope was for a romantic evening. It was a great place, the food and service were terrific. We should have asked for the patio, which looked lovely and romantic. Pretty twinkling lights and all. It was just a bit too high energy and crowded for what I had hoped. But overall good, I would like to try it again on the patio."

  • "Was caught off guard with a menu that there was not much to choose from. A party of 4 of us was stuffed into a corner and next to the entrance of the parking lot. You would think that a $60.00 a plate meal would have had better seating or just not as many people stuffed into such a small area. I understand it was a holiday but that's why you book it early so you can enjoy the time there. Would think twice before booking again at this restaurant."

  • "We attended a conference @ the Balboa and we were looking for something nearby and stumbled on the Bungalow. I wasn't expecting anything special but the service started upon walking thru the door. We were promptly seated in a booth downstairs. The room was somewhat loud due to a party. This was compensated for by excellent service. The waiter was very helpful with an excellent wine selection. We were very surprised by the quality of the food. I prefer my steak medium rare and my wife prefers well done. I can count on one hand the times our steaks were both served as requested, fortunately the Bungalow is counted on that hand. Excellent dinner, we will recommend this restaurant to everyone."

  • "The food was traditional but very high quality and well prepared. The service was in the top echelon of what I've ever experienced and the heated outdoor patio was incredibly charming. To expand on the food: The menu has a traditional, mostly surf 'n' turf feel to it. Despite the somewhat plain descriptions on the menu, the sole special was well presented and served with a unique and delicious sauce. The charming patio and the service are what really made me fall in love with this place. The server was very friendly and welcoming, but at no point during our meal did he interrupt our conversation or make us know he was there when we didn't need him. Yet, I somehow never had to pour my own wine...."
