Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I enjoyed a late dinner at Bud and Alley's and had a great experience. The crab cakes were 100% crab from what I could tell...some of the best I have ever had. My wife had the scallops, which were also delicious. We had a great table in the corner with a wonderful view of the moon-lit Gulf. I would recommend Bud and Alley's to anyone visiting the Emerald Coast, not just Seaside. We drove in from Four Mile Village near Destin, about a 25-minute drive, and it was well worth it. Our late reservation time also provided a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere, and it was easier to find a parking spot in bustling Seaside."

  • "Went to eat here for my anniversary with my boyfriend. It was so great the food was incredible and the view at sunset was breathtaking. Service was awesome and super helpful. Food was great, combo of things that you would never think to put together but worked out awesome when you did"

  • "We were a party of eight, including two small children, and they were very accommodating. Even though the restaurant was packed, the service was good and we never felt rushed. The food was wonderful and very good. Interesting combinations of flavors. Great wine list. A MUST on 30A!"

  • "This was absolutely the best food we had in the whole area from Rosemary to Destin. The crab cakes were impressive in size and quality of crab meat and the beef medallions were cooked to perfection and delicious!!!!! Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive."

  • "This is by far our favorite restaurant in Seaside. Typically the food and service is excellent. During our last visit we found the food to be so-so. The salad dressings were not very good and salmon was bit too over cooked. The meals were not up to B&A's standard but the service was painful. The bus-help ran around incessantly filling our water glasses. There wasn't much regard for what we were doing or whether it was appropriate to barge in. We will continue to dine at B&A's and chalk this experience up as a bad night."

  • "Always my favorite restaurant in Destin area. Best crab cakes anywhere."

  • "We arrived early and they were able to seat us. We took inside table, it was quiet & cool. I really like outside & bar area but it does get lively out there. Varied group- families & couples. Menue changes & always fresh. Good vegetables"

  • "Excellent Restaurant in an area with great food..."

  • "I've had worse food and much better food. Service was just ok. A little peeved that chef would not take the heads of the shrimp off before serving. Average food at best. If you want to pay $50 per person for an average meal, go right ahead. "

  • "We were on time for our reservation but the hostess did not acknowledge us in anyway upon our arrival or after we stood there (as the only guests). Our waitress was only a bit of an improvement. For the price point we have definitely had better food but the view was lovely. "

  • "I've eaten at Bud & Alley's for several years and the restaurant has steadily declined. No grouper on the menu? No tuna? The food was mediocre at best and the service was poor"

  • "We have been going to Seaside for 20 years. Everything here is declining, including attitude. They first attempted to seat our group of 4 right on top of the bus boys' tables. Literally in the back corner just about out of the outdoor portion of the restaurant. It was steamy, muggy and uncomfortable at the table we were relocated to, but at least there was room. The prices for the food you receive are just ridiculous. We have spent our years living in very urban areas and this food cannot hold a candle to fine dining in say Chicago, Houston or Boston. Sorry Bud and Alley's but your side salads are not worth $14. And your entrees are certainly not worth $40. Combine that with an attitude when you first walk in and we'll pass, thanks. "

  • "We made last minute reservations at the recommendation of someone we met on the beach and we were not disappointed. I had the crab cakes and my husband had the grilled salmon. Both dishes came with ample food and were delicious. I could not eat both crab cakes so we took them home and had them the next night and it was just as delicious. We were seated right away and our waitress came within a few minutes. There was plenty of support staff so our water glasses were always full and the empty dishes were taken away quickly. This is definitely going to be come one of our go to places when we visit the area."

  • "We had an amazing experience at Bud and Alley's. We went for dinner on Mother's Day. The food was excellent and the service was well-above par. Our server, John R., did a great job managing our many requests - including changing our minds on appetizers. The one thing I would say is that we wanted a table outside but the hostess told us they were booked solid for the patio. At the time is was a tad early, 7:00 p.m. so we thought that the patio would fill up. But it never did. By the time we finished our meal, around 9:00 p.m., there were still 4-5 empty tables. They were empty the entire time we were dining. For that reason I am giving this 4 stars on service - but that should be no reflection on our actual server, John R. He was great. "

  • "The overall experience was very good. The food was well prepared and the service was prompt. We always enjoy eating at this establishment when we stay in Watercolor. I would recommend this restaurant to others."

  • "I've dined at all the restaurants in Seaview and have given b&a three chances. It's off season and there is no excuse for rude waitstaff and the rush to turn a table we experience here. Food is good but not as good as the alternatives. Not relaxing!"

  • "Consistently good food at one of the best restaurants on 30a. Service was excellent. Sitting outdoors made for a pleasant view and nice ambiance. Standouts includes crab cakes, smoked tins dip and grilled fresh fish."

  • "expensive!! We had the scallops and whole baked fish and they were just as good as the service, but this was an expensive meal, so I would recommend it for a special occasion."

  • "After reading several great reviews, we tried Bud & Alley's and were sorely disappointed. The food, while presented well, was mediocre at best. Great service, location and reputation serves as an excuse for an overpriced, overblown meal. Spend your evening instead at Great Southern in Seaside or Cafe 30A down the road in Seagrove. Far superior food at either of those locations. Bud & Alley's can either ride their location forever and become a tourist trap or they can prove themselves worthy and serve their customers what they deserve. Try harder, Bud & Alley's."

  • "We enjoyed a nice evening with our children and their significant other's. The food was outstanding and we enjoyed the gulf view as we ate and visited. We will definitely be going back during our next trip to Seacrest Beach."

  • "We had a great time at Bud & Alley's . . . our waiter (sadly, I can't remember his name), is a fantastic waiter; we've had his service before. I really wish I could remember his name to give him due credit, but I can't. WONDERFUL waiter. My only complaint is that there were a lot of noisy middle school and high school kids hanging around. Some were sitting at tables together and actually eating, but others were just hanging around those tables chatting with their friends. If they're not sitting down and dining, they should say what they need to say and then leave. If they don't, the staff should ask them to leave. Food is GREAT! (a bit overpriced, but it's due to the location) and the ambiance is wonderful (when spring break is over)."

  • "Bud & Alleys is a great restaurant and they know it. Hostess staff is rude and condescending because they know that they're restaurant's food is the reason for the demand so they'll pretty much say take it or leave it to you since they know there's 5 more right behind you. Overall, great food and ok service with a smug staff. They will also refuse to split a ticket!"

  • "Too bad that they are participating in Open Table but offered no points for dining especially when they are such a busy restaurant. Had to wait t be seated at least 15 minutes after scheduled reservation time."

  • "You expect most beachfront restaurants to have bad food and great views. Bud and Alley's actually has great food to go with the views. It's a classic Seaside place. Good service, good food. Crab cakes are the best. All crab and little breading. Scallops with grits are also awesome. It's a must-do in Seaside!"

  • "I have literally been eating at Bud & Alleys my entire life! My parents were well known regulars before my time and we visited regullularly until my activities and those of my brothers caused a pause to our regular patronage. I have recently returned to the 30A community and my parents showed interest in eating at B&A's for their 25th wedding aniversary (they had eaten there the night of their wedding). What an amazing evening! Not only was the food AMAZING, I had the crab stuffed flounder, but our glasses were always full, we were given a great table, our waiter was entertaining, and they attempted to find an old recipe for us that we had enjoied as a family in my youth."

  • "Bud and Alley's has always been a local 30A favorite for years. The quality of the food and service has suffered over the past few years. Our visit this week convinced us that there has been a concerted effort to fix these problems. In fact, our server told us as much. Our Valentines Day dinner was awesome. I ordered the Scallops and my wife ordered Bud and Alley's signature dish, the Crab Cakes. Both entree's were absolutely wonderful. Our server was great and the entire experience was reminiscent of years past when Bud and Alley's was in its prime. I would highly recommend a retry."

  • "Really a fine dinner with crab cakes full of nothing but fresh crabmeat and that remoulade sauce was to die for. The fried crab claws were a little dry and not very meaty, but good enough to order again but wish they would serve them hotter."

  • "We were recommended to Bud & Alley's by friends. By going there, we missed out on another restaurant that we have been to before and is incredible, so going to Bud & Alley's was a chance. Well, the gamble paid off. I thought the service couldn't have been better. The food (and I am very picky) was superb. The presentation was very nice and I would definitely go there again."

  • "Whenever you get to eat in close proximity to the beach on 30A, it is wonderful but this place is really lovely. The food is spectacular from the creamy grits to the Seaside Shrimp, it was all very well presented and tasted very delicious! The service is excellent too!"

  • "We have been coming done to the 30 A area for apprx 7 years and we always make Bud & Alley's a must stop by at 2-3 times while we are in the area. We spend our anniversaery dinner there every year for the past 5 years. Not only the food ,but, the entire experience is always just a little different.................... Love it !"

  • "After ALWAYS making a visit to bud&Alleys for about twenty years I was totally disappointed about the grouper that I had ordered. We were with another couple promoting Bud & Allys and it was disappointing. The grouper was a VERY small portion and it was cooked too long very hard and chewey. The bill was outrageous more than other resturants in the area. Get Your Act Together."

  • "Been coming for as many years as they've been open...and they are just a little lost in themselves now. It is a great place to meet up with neighbors and friends and enjoy a drink or a meal - I think it always will be but many of us long for the days that were "simple" I guess. I hate they have lost their way. For First Timers - You MUST sit OUTSIDE, UPSTAIRS or there is no view! So go to the bar and eat up there - that area really IS the late reason left to go here for many of us. In fact, I would say you should go to dinner at Great Southern and just walk over to the bar at Bud and Alleys for drink & sunset."

  • "Great spot on the water. It was pretty pricey, but no different then any other place in Seaside. Food was delicious and timely. Drinks were great!"

  • "This is my 2nd time dinng here and it was better than I remembered. First, the bar upstairs is a GREAT place to watch the sunset. Beautiful views! Second, the restaurant is upscale but, not so much that you can't take kids (well behaved!) in the summer time. We had a slight view of the water and sunset. The food was really outstanding. We had every course and each was so good. They also have a nice kids menu. I love Bud & Alley's because you can actually get a reservation in the summer time and you don't have to stand and wait for an hour plus waiting for dinner."
