A word from Brockton Villa
Great Food * Epic Sunsets

Brockton Villa is a beautiful historic home converted into a restaurant located directly across from the ocean. Our seaside location offers a spectacular view of the world-famous La Jolla Cove, and has become a favorite "show off" spot for locals and visitors alike. We are known for our breakfasts, including our famous Coast Toast. Our chef creates many other wonderful dishes seasonally for lunch and our dinner service.

Our house is the perfect place for you to host your next party. Whether it be a wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, baptism, bridal shower, baby shower, or any special occasion.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Brockton Villa's location, overlooking the La Jolla Cove, is hard to beat. Food was never great here, but was palatable. Recently however the quality has notably gone downhill. "

  • "Great food, fabulous view, amazing service. Thank you for a special evening."

  • "One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was delicious. Our waiter was super and knowledgeable not only about the menu, but the area and the restaurant. The history on the back of the menu was cool. The view of the ocean was spectacular and the barking sea lions (or seals . . . always mix them up) from the shore line added to the environment. It was a spectacular evening . . . just be warned if you decide to go visit the sea lions by walking down the path to where they are, the smell is challenging, but you get used to it. Also . . . do not get too close to them. The Brockton Villa is a gem."

  • "This is a great restaurant to enjoy the beautiful view of La Jolla coastline. I highly recommend it for breakfast and lunch on nice days so you can sit outside. The lunch menu is somewhat limited but what they do have is very good."

  • "Dinining with a view of the sunset on La Jolla Cove is a unique experience, but if the food is also superb, it becomes a unique experience. I had the grilled swordfish, served on a bed of fresh and tasty vegetables. A unique combination. And for once a portion that don't make you explode. Unforgetable."

  • "Because of the very close proximity to the Seals along the coast there is a quite pervasive odor, that comes and goes with the wind direction but is generally noticeable. Food is tasty, service is definitely acceptable and selections very accommodating to varied tastes. Have eaten here many times and never been disappointed in the food and service. Reservations are a good idea. Parking is iffy so you might have to walk aways from your car."

  • "Portion was small for the price. The food was just ok but not for the price. I been there 12 times for breakfast Dinner didn't workout so well almost left and small portions."

  • "Good food and great service. The views were amazing as well!"
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "The food and the view was great but the smell from the cove right there is pretty strong and if you do not like fishy smell then you must sit inside it cuts down the smell to almost nothing."

  • "Perfect ocean view setting and wonderful brunch makes the parking challenge well worth the hassle."

  • "Perfect view, food was delicious & service was top drawer. Started with artisan cheeses & glass of wine.. Magnificent ! Buratta & arugula salad- more than enough for 2. Cup of house chowder ...amazing, more like a bisque-not light rather deep, rich flavors and satisfied my appetite. Friend had the soup of the day (Mexican meatball) - beautiful flavor. Finished with cappuccino. Food was perfect . Service was amazing from hostess to bus boy to server to owner to chef...all smiles which made dinner a joy."

  • "This is a great spot to eat if you have friends out of town. You get a gorgeous view of the ocean and coast and you get great food with a very friendly staff. I strongly recommend the Mediterranean Chopped Salad and the scallops are some of the best I've ever had. Go and enjoy, I'd recommend getting reservations to ensure a table."

  • "Love the Coast Toast and the omlettes are amazing. Would highly recommend Brockton Villa to any native. Not just a tourist spot."

  • "We were in la jolly on a Saturday night without reservations and decided to check open table. Brockton is know for brunch and lunch but they did a fine job on dinner. Outside seating and at night a quiet area. Great last minute choice, service was great and good food (chowder got rave reviews from our table)"

  • "Super place for breakfast with an unbeatable view overlooking the La Jolla Cove. Everything is good, but the Coast Toast is special. A real favorite of ours."

  • "The cozy Brockton Villa is a wonderful spot for an early morning breakfast on a rainy day. The breakfast menu features creative twists on early morning favorites, the Pannikin coffee menu is top notch and the service is always friendly. My friends and I all ordered variations on the same items--granola or oatmeal, yogurt or milk and fruit. The portions are generous, the food presentation inviting and all fresh and tasty. Parking at the Cove can be dicey and in good weather there's always a long wait for tables on the outdoor patio. Plan ahead with reservations for breakfast/brunch/lunch on the weekend. This is a popular spot and for good reason--interesting comfort food, casual ambiance, great view."

  • "The smell from across the street from the seals was nauseating as we walked up , but we did not smell it once inside. Fabulous food."

  • "The hostess greeted us with a very warm welcome and our waitstaff, the bartender and Carly, were extremely friendly and accommodating!! We enjoyed a Fun evening dinner while being serenaded by the Harbor Seals in LaJolla Cove."

  • "My husband took me to Brockton Villa on my birthday and it was such a treat! He loved the Coast Toast, which is their specialty and I tried the Carne Asada Benedict. It was delicious and would definitely order it again. I love sitting on the balcony overlooking the beautiful La Jolla Cove. There is a little bit of odor from the seals on the rocks below, but after awhile you get acclimated and don't notice it anymore. I also love reading the history of this building and hearing the story behind the unique fireplace with the large abalone shells. This was a big hit and I can't wait to go again!"

  • "My husband and I had breakfast there. Can't say enough about the food. He got Coast Toast, (YUM) and I got the Traditional Eggs Benedict. Perfectly poached eggs. The fresh fruit wasn't all melon so this was a huge plus. Our server did leave a little to be desired. My husband had to get up and ask for cream as my tea was getting cold and he still hadn't brought it. He brought us the wrong check at the end of the meal. But he was friendly and apologized for his mistake. Make a reservation for any weekend dining! Ask for the Veranda seating for the best views."

  • "if you can get over the seals smell, this is a great place to eat. fantastic views, cute, homey feel. parking is a little challenging since it's in such a popular area, but even if you have to park a ways a way, it's a great scenic walk to a great meal."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The menu looked appetizing but my meal tasted ok. The atmosphere at the restaurant was noisy and we got our entrees before we ever finished appetizer. By the time I got to my entree it was cold. Parking was horrendous but that was kinda expected given the holiday weekend just right after valentines day. Overall it was pleasant but not overwhelming given the reviews I've read. Maybe come back for dinner ....."

  • "I took my girlfriend to BV for Valentine's dinner and the experience was nothing short of fantastic. The service was outstanding, the food and wine was outstanding, and the seat on the terrace overlooking the cove was perfect. That was my second dining experience at BV and it certainly won't be my last."

  • "Brockton Villa has a prime location at the La Jolla Cove. However, I thought that the prices were based on the location, not so much on the food. We went there for Valentine's Day, which meant a price fix dinner. When our food came, they ran out of my entrée and both of our desserts. The food we got was good, but it wasn't what we ordered."

  • "This would the third time I've eaten here ... Twice brunch and once dinner This is the first time I've been disappointed. Some of the hot food was cold ..service was so so....requested no sour cream on a dish ..waitress said it is just a little bit and dish arrived with the sour cream...it was suppose to be a hot dish ..but it arrived almost warm.. .etc ...The French toast was great however."

  • "We introduced our new CEO to this La Jolla gem before a very serious day of meetings. She of course enjoyed the view and the beautiful 70 degree weather because she flew in from Virginia the day before. There were several of us and so we all ordered different dishes. All choices were delicious but of course we also ordered Coast Toast for everyone. It was a successful breakfast with lots of laughter. Thanks...we'll be back!"

  • "Brockton has a great view, I think, but it was foggy when we went there. The food was very expensive, and was only average. The famous Coast Toast wasn't particularly better then the French toast I make at home. The corned beef hash looked interesting, but didn't have much flavor. If you can't have the view, it's not worth it."

  • "We went for brunch and it was a beautiful San Diego day. We sat outside and got to enjoy the amazing views. The Coast Toast lived up to the hype. I would highly recommend to get an order to share for the table. We all really enjoyed our meals with the exception of the pancakes. They were cakey and dense and almost doughy. All the egg dishes were very tasty though."

  • "Having two small children makes it a little difficult to spark up a romatic date with a nice setting! Brockton Villa is "fancy" without being too snobby and uptight like some other places. I had my 4 month old with me and I didn't feel like a burden at all. The food was so tasty, fresh and perfectly portioned, I felt full without feeling stuffed. I also happen to loove animals, so the seals barking just completed the whole package for me. The ambiance of the entire place with the candlelight and delicious wine pairings were amazing as well. I'll definitely be coming back!"

  • "The staff was professional and very accommodating. They read my special request from the online form and when we arrived, they sat us as near the fireplace as possible and in a booth. The server was attentive and explained the specials with verve and was excited about sharing the wonderful cuisine. We live in Rancho Bernardo and this dining experience was well worth the drive. The ambiance was romantic and the food was excellent - including dessert! Gelato Vera gelato and cheesecake - everything tasted fresh and delisious."

  • "Food was good, ocean view was great. But there was hair on our salad, side fruits were dried and had a piece of cabage, which should not be there. It looked as if they reuse from other's left-over."
