“Arguably the best oyster bar of any white tablecloth restaurant in New Orleans” per the Times Picayune, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House is all about local seafood. If it’s not in season, you won’t find it on the menu. Enjoy authentic New Orleans dishes and oysters on the halfshell in a lively atmosphere overlooking Bourbon Street.
Dickie Brennan and his culinary team have created an incredible menu of classic New Orleans dishes complemented by new favorites. Signature favorites include Gulf fish on the Halfshell and New Orleans style Barbeque Shrimp.
Bourbon is a central focus at the bar with more than 100 American Whiskeys on the list. Bourbon House is the perfect place for a mint julep or a straight up shot of that hard to find small batch whiskey.

  • "My husband and I dined for lunch at The Bourbon House for our 1st wedding anniversary. The service, food, and ambiance were outstanding and we enjoyed every second of our dining experience. Any questions we had were answered politely by our waiters who were knowledgeable about all of the menu items including recommendations on the drink menu. We were even greeted as we were seated with a "Happy Anniversary" by the host. The entire experience and food was spectacular and I definitely recommend anyone dine at The Bourbon House for a great dining experience."

  • "This dining experience overall was good, not great. I did find a piece of the outer shell on my filet, and for the price it should not have been. I unpleasantly bit into it. I will say my daughters red fish on the half-shell was outstanding, much better than my crab crusted fish. The service was a little lacking for a fine dining experience."

  • "There are many great restaurants in the French Quarter and we've been to most. Sometimes we fear we've missed a good one so we try a spot that's new to us which is what took us to Bourbon House. Beautiful decor, high ceilings, huge restaurant, friendly, couteous, attentive, professional staff. The food? I started with Oysters Bienville and they were a-maz-ing! Ive eaten this dish at every fine dining restaurant in NOLA but Bourbon House were absolutely the best - really! - in part the construction of the dish and part the exceptional quality of the oysters! The rest of our meal, food and beverages, were good, not great but good. Overall a positive experience and one we'd recommend - especially if you love oysters!"

  • "Every time I go to New Orleans, I make sure I go to the Bourbon House, and I like to save it for last, since you always save the best for last! The oysters are perfection, the fish cooked perfectly, the deserts delicious! It's a fancy place, but one that gives you pretty decent sized portions (which most fancy places do not!) My drink server (I believe his name was Arlen) was great, the busser Rashad was great, and my waiter Phillip was great! Can't say enough good things about The Bourbon House!"

  • "The Bourbon House is a very fast paced restaurant! Food was good as expected. However, multi servers waiting on your table leaves a bit of a false impression. Had to wait several minutes for drink refills & coffee (beverage server.) Food order came out wrong (food server's helper) We had specifically requested alcohol be on a separate check, and it wasn't! They need to get their acts together when it comes to servicing tables properly."

  • "Had made the reservation weeks before. Heard it was a stellar place and New Orleans "must dine at" and was intrigued with the tauted bourbon offerings and extensive seafood menu. Yes, those are on the menu, but what wasn't cited was the totally lackluster and "lack of hustle" service, the huge groups that were placed in the middle of the mainways of the restaurant, so any two table diners were completely overlooked and overpowered by rowdy, obnoxious patrons (which the restaurant management could have controlled) and the basically bland and uneventful food experience. Total disappointment. Been to many Dickie Brennan's restaurants many times, and this one was a bomb and if you're a tourist - a pass-it-over."

  • "Managed to get a last minute 7:30 pm res. Dave (Concierge @Hyatt FQ recommended restaurant. Hostess seated us immediately upon arrival (always a good thing) and server introduced herself and on to drinks and oysters. Warm bread in a bag was brought (delicious) along with the fresh raw oysters and my Sazerac. My son had the gumbo and my husband and I split the salad and grilled redfish with the crawfish on the top. The kitchen graciously split them both evenly (along with the potatoes and garnish). Decided on the chocolate filled bread pudding to share with the $2.50 add- on drink too. Was treated so well by all of the staff and many restaurants could learn from their treatment of their guests. Cheers to all at The Bourbon House."

  • "We tried to make a brunch reservation for 6 people at 11:00am on Sunday 3/30/14, and were told the closest available time was 11:30am. We arrived at about 11:20 and found there were only two other tables occupied. When the waitress gave us our menus, we were told that they quit serving brunch at 11:00, and that the kitchen would make no exceptions. Since we were bringing out of town guests we were quite embarrassed, but since they had a plane to make, we decided to have lunch. When the food was served, most of it was lukewarm to cold, and soft drinks that were ordered with the meals not served until we made a third request for them when they were finally delivered (by this time, we were nearly ready to leave). This was a poor experience!"

  • "I would almost swear the oysters on the half shell weighed 3 lbs each. Firm and delicious served with an exceptional horseradish (HOT). The barbecued shrimp were swimming in the richest sauce I think I've ever enjoyed. We even ordered extra biscuits to make sure we didn't leave any behind. Then came the desert. Nothing traditional here. Just a shot of one of their amazing bourbons (too bad they were out of the Sazerac 18 YO). Will definitely come back if I ever have the opportunity to visit New Orleans in the future."

Nola restaurants in the past my husband & I stopped in for oysters & a drink before our dinner reservation at a different restaurant celebrating our anniversary. The oyster shuckers and bartenders were so great! Reminded me of why I loved this place. The next night we decided to cancel our reservations at another place & return here for dinner. The service was not good, the restaurant appeared under staffed & it was very loud and stuffy. So much so I didn't even order food because I couldn't breathe or hear myself think. I ordered a side salad and the salt shaker on our table according to our waiter "had been dropped too much" & ruined my salad with an over pour, $100 check and I didn't even eat."

  • "Bourbon House offers a good, but just ordinary taste of New Orleans. The bourbon selection is good (but no Pappy) and the oysters are very good. The rest of the experience is just vanilla. It has the service of a chain restaurant (our server, Nancy, could have just come off her shift at Denny's) without any special touches you'd expect of a fine dining establishment. If we ate at our server's pace, we would have out of the restaurant in 30 minutes. I'd recommend you go there for a drink, but skip dinner. There are far better choices to dine in a town renowned for fine dining."

Waiters were average to above average. My wife's chair was over a squeaky/loose board, so every time someone walked by, it her chair moved up and down... distracting. large windows overlooking Bourbon Street are a very nice touch."

  • "If you aren't looking for a huge bourbon selection look elsewhere. Food was very hit or miss. The strawberry salad that was on special was very nice- actual veggies that weren't fried or doused in a sauce! Stay away from the crab-corn soup, it was almost inedible, total cardboard taste. I would have asked for something else but the service was so slow (not outside of the New Orleans norm though) and I didn't want to starve to death. Had a very good bread pudding for dessert. Waiter was nice but paid us little attention as a 2 top. The drink server was hopeless but clearly brand new, which was also taking up some of the waiter's time."

  • "Bourbon House provided a very good, moderate cost fresh seafood dinner for my wife and myself. The catfish with crab stuffing and black drum with artichokes were both excellent. The house salad starter was also very good. The pecan pie we had for dessert was outstanding. The bourbon list was truly amazing -- I settled on Angel's Envy which was superb. The only complaint is the service was just OK. While everything was served well (meals were hot, wait times acceptable, etc.) our waiter was not very attentive. Could be that he wa overloaded trying to take care of eight tables at the same time. Reservations are definitely needed. With out one on a Thursday night we would have had to wait for 60+ minutes to get a table."

  • "I spent two weeks in New Orleans for work, and kept walking past Bourbon House to other restaurants. Should've gone here sooner - it's the best OpenTable-able restaurant on the street. Food was excellent, service well above average, bourbon list exhaustive. Cannot recommend Bourbon House highly enough for groups, business dinners, families, etc. It's a little pricey, but not when factoring-in all the amenities."

  • "We happened to walk by Bourbon House after a walk through the crowds on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. There was no line, but the greeter was estimating a 30-45 minute wait. I checked OpenTable, and there was a reservation available for 6:30 PM, just five minutes away, so I quickly took it. The food was very good, the general feel of the place was spacious and welcoming, the wait staff was outstanding. Even thought it was in the middle of Mardi Gras and the restaurant was packed, the wait staff was extremely pleasant without constantly asking how we were doing. We never felt rushed, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal."

  • "A friend recommended this place to me, and I thanked him for that, the decor is old school classy restaurant. You can go in dressed up or just as comfortable in jeans. The service is top notch, never a moment where we needed anything. The bourbon selection is overwhelming, and they had my favorite, Angels Desire try it if your a bourbon lover. The food just enough selection so everyone got what they were craving. The dressing on the wedge salad is an amazing blue cheese, the gumbo compares to anywhere in New Orleans. I had the fish of the day, Red fish on a half shell delicious. If your ever in New Orleans give a try you won't be disappointed."

  • "The food at The Bourbon House was delicious. Although I traveled to New Orleans during a time that I didn't realize the city was hosting an event, the restaurant seemed to handle the volume well. The servers seemed to be a bit stressed because of the volume of traffic coming through the establishment. Mu biggest problem is the process they have for food service. The kitchen staff brings the food to a stand where dining staff pick it up and take to the tables. The problem is that they walk right past diners and the food sits cooling and open waiting to be picked up. This may work on regular occasions, but certainly not when the place is packed."
