Diner Reviews
  • "Boulevard represents the fancy dining scene of San Francisco. Menus do vary. The day we visited, nothing special on it. May be they need to work on their menu offerings."

  • "This is an outstanding restaurant and would highly recommend it. We (co-worker & I) attend an annual event in SF every year and The Boulevard is the first place we go to eat."

  • "I had another satisfying lunch gathering at Boulevard, my first in 3 years and it delivered the same quality and accommodation to specific tastes as in the past. I will continue to come back."

  • "Our 3rd visit was outstanding again. Excellent service, food and ambience and it is quiet so you can converse with your guest."

  • "Fine dining in San Francisco style. Though the restaurant is only 23 years old, there is an oldworld elegance that you notice as soon as you walk in and see the beautiful tile work and stained glass lighting. The food was excellant, though do not expect the large portions that Americans have gotten used to. For me, the portions were perfect. The presentation of all the items we had was splendid. Enjoyed it thoroughly."

  • "My husband and I came here on the last night of our honeymoon and were not disappointed...the food was superb and the service was even better. Even though the food is pricey, the wine price selection is very reasonable."

  • "We had a wonderful evening at Boulevard. Food and wine list were outstanding. High quality fish (had fish as starters and entrees). Just the interior decoration could improve in our opinion."

  • "Visiting San Francisco from Los Angeles. Had been to Boulevard once before. Ambiance, food , men selection, service were all outstanding. Our server made us feel truly welcome, urging us to stay and enjoy when it became apparent we were ready to leave. Busy restaurant nut we never felt rushed. Gorgeous view of the Bay Bridge and Pier 39 from our table. Can't wait to go back! We had the Salmon, Lamb "t bone" and game hen. All equally scrumptious with gorgeous plating."

  • "I have been to Boulevard a number of times over the years and I have always enjoyed. I venture out to other SF restaurants, but none have displaced Boulevard from #1 on my list. The feel of the restaurant is warm and inviting. The service is excellent. The staff knows the menu and are attentive to your party. The food is consistently exceptional. This all being said when I recommend Boulevard to others the first thing I mention is that the menu never fails me or my guests. I particularly like the 1st course selections. If you are driving it is very convenient to the Bay Bridge with reasonable valet parking and on the weekends it is not difficult to find street parking."

  • "Boulevard is one of the best restaurants in SF. We dined there 10 years ago and the food, service and decor is still top notch today. The food is prepared with fresh ingredients. My husband and I both had the salmon - amazing!! The service is friendly and timely. Boulevard is an upscale restaurant with a comfortable, warm appeal. Highly recommend."

  • "The food was excellent as was our bartender who ended up being our server after we waited for our table reservation for over 35 minutes and apparently were labeled a "no show" by the hostesses...loved the quail, the pork and the filet, and the bartender made excellent recommendations to accompany our meal as well as brought us some delicious Bonbons to end the meal...he really made the night enjoyable!"

  • "Hadn't been to Boulevard since a trip to SF years ago. This trip, Boulevard was just as wonderful as before. The food was delightful and the service impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and hope that we will be able to visit Boulevard again on our next trip to the Bay area."

  • "My husband and I dined at Boulevard before seeing a show to celebrate my retirement. We were seated quickly and the service was excellent. We both enjoyed our salads and fillets. My husband even ate the spinach and like it, no easy feat! Thank you."

  • "Make reservations well in advance. It will be worth the planning. Everything was perfect. We were seated promptly and the service throughout the evening was excellent. We started with and an exceptional salad of crab, melon and avocado. The favors were delicate but blended perfectly, very creative. My wife ordered the quail, prepared two ways; some lightly battered and marinated, and other pieces crisply broiled. Both were excellent and presented beautifully. I had the halibut which was likewise excellent. While both were excellent, the creative preparation of the quail got our vote as the best choice. All in all the Boulevard exceeded expectations based on the reviews we read. We will be back, probably more than a few times."

  • "A friend recommended restaurant Boulevard BUT he was not travelling with kids. We were disappointed with our visit. Food was ok but staff was very unfriendly and unflexible! You could not make the smallest change to any dish on the menu. Would not recommend this restaurant at least for families!"

  • "Found this restaurant on Yelp and asked a couple friends who have been here and they all recommended it so we decided to go. It was awesome! Our server was great and the food was even better. Good choice of wines and a full bar. It's a little pricey but well worth every penny. I will definitely be coming back here next special occasion."

  • "Only problem was 4 cocktails for another table was on my bill. Because everyone had some place else they had to be, waiter wasn't at the table, I just paid the bill and dealt with it later. They (accounting) corrected over the phone, removed the charges & associated taxes, no problem. I will go back."

  • "I have been going to Boulevards for nearly 20 years and sadly I have to say, either they were having a bad night, or my beloved Boulevards is begining to slip. Food was competently made, but not great as in the past. My quail dish seemed deep fried and not all that different from diner fare. The appetizer of ravioli also seemed a bit too al dente, in this case, Italian for raw. $200+ dollars needs to produce a much better meal. Boulevards is not crossed off my dinner list, but another meal like this and it might be."

  • "A great experience that we will remember as a highlight of our trip to San Francisco. Very nice food and a service that make you feel welcome."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "We have been there many times and each time it gets noisier. The deconstructed food is overcooked and expensive. I think the quail is cooked ahead of time and then finished as ordered. Medium was the quoted degree of doneness. Not true. Disappointed. The soft-shell crab cooked tempura style was the best of the lot."

  • "This understated spot has great food. Although it is quite large, the tables are not cramped and you can have a conversation. There is not much of a view but you can wonder over to the very building after for some ambience. The service was perfect balance of being there but not pushy or hovering. The food was outstanding at a good price point. We had the lamb dish which I nightly recommend. The stuffed soft shell crab was perfect. Take this one in. We will definitely go back."

  • "Requested a view table at the time of the reservation and confirmed on the day of the reservation. We were given table in a dark corner next to a bus station / cash register with no view at all. When asked to move was told "no". Wine list by the glass was limited and very expensive ( $25 per glass for $40 retail Pinot ). I ordered the shrimp and crab salad ( fresh seafood with a nice presentation but again expensive and small portion ) plus swordfish. Others ordered the filet. The steaks were small and nothing special plus expensive. The house made ice cream was recommended and good but at $10 for two small scoops and only choc, straw, van choices ? Over $500 for 4 with just two glasses of wine - too expensive for even San Francisco."

  • "Overall very nice meal! We had wonderful service and a delicious lunch. We showed up early for our reservation and were accomodated right away. We weren't rushed at all and were able to enjoy our food and our conversation. I especially enjoyed the homemade pita."
