  • "This used to be our favorite "special occasion" restaurant, but it is very different now as they seem more interested in turning over tables faster in place of good, but 'nothing special' kind of food. The website says 'no shorts' but we saw over half of the restaurant in shorts. The wedge salad was average, Honey chicken very tasty and moist which was nice, creamed spinach - average, and their special "Thai curried seafood' was overdone and dry, with many overpowering flavors. I was bored with that dish in a few bites. Dessert was a chocolate fondue - chocolate was good, but Korean or Japanese pear that they placed on the platter was tasteless and still had the sticker/label on one of the segments! The view was magnificent!"

  • "Went on July 4th and had an ocean view...beautiful! The receptionist and server seemed distracted and just going through the motions of doing their job. Barely any interaction and felt we had to pull menu information from our sever. My husband ordered steak and polenta and other than needing seasoning, it was good. I order the market special fish and lobster au gratin potatoes. AWFUL! The fish was also unseasoned & horribly overdone. It was so dry that even dumping the pesto sauce on it didn't make it edible. The server did offer to take it off the ticket. The au gratin potatoes were essentially mashed potatoes with 3 small chunks of over cooked lobster covered by a cracker and Parmesan crust. Service was slow. Food was hit or miss."

  • "My husband and I dined here (Bali's) on our 34th wedding anniversary on June 13th, 2014. My husband ordered steak, which he thought tasted good, however, unfortunately I ordered the seafood special of the evening. I was very disappointed when I saw a bowl of mixed seafood floating in a soupy mixture. This was not what I expected at all. Why would you add seafood containing shells and serve it in a bowl? Thankfully, I had also ordered the lobster potatoes, or I wouldn't have had anything to eat. I have no complaints about my food server, she was wonderful, however I will probably never dine here again. Also, although there was a (very LOUD) fireworks display, we were not allowed to step out the back-side entrance to watch them."

  • "Our server Ranulfo was awful. Checked on us like once, never smiled, was not friendly. Took forever to even greet us. While we seen another table who came after us get greeted & their drinks first. Other servers seemed to be more friendly & attentive to their tables."

  • "We had been anxious to revisit Bali after the new chef was installed. I was intrigued by a photo I saw of the roasted garlic and rosemary. We were not disappointed. John and Ernie were friendly and efficient. The filet was tender and delicious. We also enjoyed the nice variety of breads. The salad was crisp and tasty and the Brussels sprouts were very good and not something always found on menus. We dine out quite often and Bali will be on our "favorites list". We truly had a lovely evening."

  • "The food was just okay, quite a let down for us given the long time anticipation of fine dining... (couldn't get a reservation in prior years). The potions were very small and quite bland - I had the ahi and it was nothing to rave about. My wife had lobster, which was a tiny portion and chewy (over cooked). She had a hard time getting the meat out of the shell and overall wouldn't recommend ordering it. Our deserts were disappointing too, the malasadas were baked (not fried) and the filling was on the side (bland). The crème brule was in a wide dish and about 1/2 in deep (mostly sugar topping). We won't be going back to this place and would recommend to dine off of the Hilton property as you get better food for much less."

  • "The service at Bali was as outstanding as it has always been. Stephen is great and as professional as ever. The remodelled Bali does not feel luxurious at all. It is mid-century modern with an island flare, but executed poorly. From fraying floor covering (only months after reopening) and candles that have you looking at the battery operated bulbs to very uncomfortable chairs and dining behind a bird net that stretches between you and the ocean view - the dining expereince at Bali has been degraded markedly from it's prior level of excellence. With a tab over $200 for two, the ambiance is no longer worth it. This has always been one of our favorties in Waikiki - no longer - not sure we will return. "

  • "I dined here while staying at the hotel but invited a client and his wit to join us. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Friday night and we were the last ones left after only dining for under 2 hours. The food was very good but portions were small and expensive. Our bill for four people with appetizer, entree and shared desserts plus only 4 drinks (no wine) between us was $400 including tip. Just know that before heading over! "

  • "We were seated on time. Our table had a breathtaking view of the water as did most of the tables. The service left nothing to be desired. The food was fabulous. A fresh salad with good dressing served elegantly. A Del Monico steak cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare). We ordered the lobster and potato au gratin. It was decadent but I would have preferred thinly sliced potatoes rather than using a sort of mashed potato -- but this was minor -- still a delicious dish. We wish we had more time here so that we could return to try some of the other menu items. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The title sort of says it all. The Hilton puts a premium on eating at their facility here. I got a much better meal in downtown Waikiki (Dukes) at half the price. Also had a problem with bugs in the shrimp dish. Waiter said it was an open air resturant, so... Pleasant servers and nice place to sit but really not worth it. "

  • "I had suggested this to a few friends instead of just going to a steak house and this place hit the mark. The steaks and seafood were perfect but what set this place above everything else was the quality, attention to detail, and flavors that went into everything else. Many places can get the main course right, and Bali does it well, but they go above and beyond in every other category of dining experience. Do yourself a favor and start with the tomato soup. You will never look at tomato soup the same way again."

  • "Came to Bali's for a birthday dinner (mine!) - what an absolutely fabulous night we had! Party of two teens, two adults. Between the four of us, there was not a single item that wasn't amazing. Our son said it was the best meal he'd had in his entire life. Enjoyed the most: filet mignon, scallops, honey chicken, lobster potato gratin, crab oscar, corn and bacon polenta. For dessert: Kona creme brulee - awesome! Service: Very attentive yet didn't hover. Perfect imho! Ambience (7pm reservation): Were seated farther back in the restaurant; it felt intimate even as the restaurant filled in the latter hours. The noise level: moderate, but we never had trouble having a conversation. A perfect birthday dinner! Many thanks!"

  • "We went here for my husbands birthday, it was a beautiful place with a magnificent view over waikkiki beach. it had an oudoor feel even though it was indoors as it was all open looking out towards the ocean. I highly recommend this to anyone seeking a special ocassion spot. As far as cost goes I probably wouldnt take little children who wouldnt appreciate the food."

  • "This is the best restaurant on the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu. The food is amazing. I ate here two nights in a row and had the filet mignon the first night which melts in your mouth. The second night opted for the local Monchong which was equally amazing. The service is wonderful and the view of the ocean is breathtaking. A little pricey but well worth it."

  • "Dined here for my wife's birthday, along with our 3 children.This was one of the best restaurants we have dined at. Food and service was top-notch. I'm so bad with names but our waiter gave personable and superior service. Knowledgeable of the menu. He made recommendations when we couldn't decide on certain things. All recommendations turned out to be delicious, including the wine selection. Steak was cooked to perfection. My wife devoured the lobster carpaccio. She let me have 1 bite. the white honey vinaigrette that was drizzled over it was delicious, which it came from the Big island. I appreciate when foods are locally grown and used as I am a kama'aina. Will definitely be back again, and again, and again!"

Well, when they placed our party, it was at a table at the end by some open glass doors in front of scaffolding. And we had no view whatsoever. I made my reservation about 2 weeks in advance and specified what I would like and I was told they could not fit a party of 6 anywhere else."

  • "Made reservation several days in advance, asked for,table by window. Open tables for two but she wouldn't give us one. Said people reserved these weeks,or months in advance. Two Asian ladies were seated by head lady, who very obviously knew them. Hugs, pictures and lots of conversation. Couple sat at table next to us, ordered a drink,telling waiter he wanted the same great drink he had couple days ago when they were there. Maybe if Trump concierge had made reservation we would have had more status.. Don't appreciate lies and the haughty manner of seating staff. Food was good and our waiter was good. However, I would not go back because of treatment. Maybe others would be luckier."

  • "As frequent diners to the old Bali, we were anticipating the same elegant and quiet ambiance we enjoyed. We were disappointed to find a "coffee shop" atmosphere where diners were in shorts and casual beachwear. The service was okay and the food was surprisingly good. However, the entrees and side dishes were very pricey ... higher than most fine dining restaurants and did not match with the casual atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, we were disappointed and will not go back."

  • "The food was very good, but the price / portion size ration was not. Very good food does not have to equal very small portions. Also, a special menu like this, with a set price, should include some sort of beverage, at least iced tea/coffee/ etc. We both had the Filet Mignon The meat was excellent meat. However, something like 2 Tablespoons of Swiss Chard and some extra creamy, yet "thin" mashed potatoes as a base is not enough to truly constitute a meal. Also, before using terminology that is associated with food / food preparation better make sure to check the meaning that is usually associated with said term. Having been in Switzerland, we were wondering how you make a "Potato Fondue", but creamy mashed potatoes did not come to mind."
