  • "The food was stellar, the service excellent and the experience wonderful. Our waiter, Scott, did a great job. And compliments to the chef."

  • "The food was very good and different from what I have had before. I am not a lamb fan but, I really liked the grilled Turkish meatballs (beef and lamb combo)with the yogurt sauce. I also got to taste a grilled chicken special with a lemon white sauce, alsovery good. The dining outside was pleasant, but noisy because there was major street work being done that night."

  • "the food was amazing!!! Save room for dessert, it is worth it."

  • "Delicious, quiet, romantic...perfect for a date night."

  • "I really think it depends on what you order. I enjoyed all the food but my date likes less spicy food. I ordered the lamb shank and it was awesome. We also had allergies and they were really great with that."

  • "This is by far the best Turkish restaurant that I have had the pleasure of dining at. Do not be afraid of anything on the menu. First off, it's all good! Secondly, if you have a question, ask it! The servers are all very knowledgeable and will get specifics for you either from their deep knowledge of the foods or direct from the head chef. The entrees are spectacular and bring me to a comforting place that I always find myself needing to fill (about once a month, sometimes more; though my waistline would debate me)."

  • "The thong anout Aya Sofia is that you know going on that thr food is going to be really good, no matter what you order. Of course, for me, that means the lamb shank whenever it's on the menu. It's one of my very favorite dishes in St. Louis."

  • "We were in town on vacation and thought it might be hard finding a restraurant that was open. Thanks to the open table ap we didn't have a problem. Aya Sofia was amazing. The food was fresh and very flavorful. The menu had many diverse offerings. We had previously enjoyed too many St. Louis ribs earlier in the day and were looking for a vegetarian option for dinner. Aya Sofia was perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. If Aya Sofia was in our home area, we would be regulars! Thanks again."

  • "Our dinner club met at Aya Sofia last week and we all loved it! Although a few of us were not first timers, those of us who are new to the restaurant loved it. We sat on the patio, which gave us lots of room for talking and eating and enjoying a cool summer breeze. Everyone loved their food, drinks and desserts. I think our favorite dishes were the Babaganuş, Börek and İmam Bayıldı. We all really loved the chocolate and pistachio custard dessert. We'll definitely be back again!!!!! Thank you."

  • "We've tried every Middle Eastern restaurant in St Louis (Greek, Lebanese, Syrian) and this is by far the best. No need to look elsewhere. The service was warm and helpful, the menu small, but checked every box. In addition there were several specials. The appetizers were delicious and the entrees savory and plentiful. I was impressed to see Lebanese wines on the list. The atmosphere was lively, but romantic with perfect lighting. We will definitely go back!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by much of our first experience at Aya Sofia. It's the kind sophisticated, family owned, ethnic, neighborhood restaurant that St. Louis needs more of. The whole, grilled Churpa fish was unusual & delicious. Unfortunately, upon completing our meal, we had to ask the server several times to clear the plates from the table. The lingering plates dissuaded us from considering dessert and coffee. The two outdoor patios would be very pleasant in good weather."

  • "Amazing food! Had the lamb, fish special and Gyro type of sandwich. My favorites were the fish and lamb. Started with calamari, pita with a yogurt and dill sauce and some kind of soup that had a sausage in it. Can't decide which one of those I liked best. I would definitely go again to try something different. Everything was fabulous but I wouldn't want to miss out on something that may be better!"

  • "Aside from the occasional roar of a motorcycle, the outdoor patio is delightful which matched the out standing food. Unique tastes well delivered. A gem."

  • "The food was great. Good variety. The wine lover's deal was such a great bargain. The service was outstanding. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly in a normal way if that makes sense. We will definitely go back. "

  • "Aya Sofia never disappoints me. The food is always excellent. Plenty for vegetarians to eat, too. The service was great! We always feel like we can sit and have a conversation but people watch if we are in the mood. A very comfortable place."

  • "The food is great but it was hard to hear the conversation at our table. They had an interesting menu and a large selection of wine to choose from."

  • "Food was outstanding with large servings and outstanding service"

  • "Loved the red pepper appetizer. I ate the Mediterranean chicken. It was very flavorful. Friends had lamb. They said it was the best lamb that they had ever had. My only complaint would be the lack of wine choice by the glass. I love Chardonnay and there was only one kind and it was Australian. Would prefer California choices. "

  • "Dinner was outstanding, I had beef kabobs loadec with flavorful spices and cooked to perfection with a simple rice pilaf, cooked carrots and sqush. My partner had the hungarian meatballs which were just as loaded witn flavor and tender. Overall a great place to meet and eat."

  • "We had brunch at Aya Sofia on Mother's Day. It was lovely, and the food was wonderful! We took our 3 kids (ages 5, 3, and 10 months). It was noisy enough that normal kid noises didn't seem to bother anyone around us. The food was wonderful. The service was great other than the food coming out a bit slow but we did have a large group (10 people). I would take my kids there again but only for brunch. The atmosphere seemed like it would be romantic in the evenings and not fit for young kids. I would like to go back soon with only my husband. The food, drinks and friendliness of the staff were top notch. We will return."

  • "We had Sunday brunch here on Easter, what a great choice we made in picking this restaurant. They have a great brunch menu with different egg dishes, sandwiches, etc. with a Mediterranean twist on some of them. All of the dishes that each of us ordered was delicious and served hot, the biscuits were good also. Nice brunch drink menu which consisted of alcoholic and non-alcoholic selections. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. They have nice outdoor seating also. We will definitely return for brunch, lunch or dinner.."

  • "As always, the food at Aya Sofia is wonderful and takes you out of the country without using a passport. Service was lacking this time which was disappointing for frequent diners."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "This is one of my go-to places for brunch. The best biscuits anywhere hands down! Dinner was also delicious I had pasta with spinach and feta, also tried a chicken with lemon sauce, calamari and another appetizer with cheese inside fillo, everything was amazing and there was enough that my kids ate it for lunch the next day! Service is always friendly and efficient, I just love this place."

  • "This place was just great. Everything was on point and went beyond our expectations."

  • "Aya Sofia is Turkish food just like in Turkey! It's not very different than American cooking so one should not be afraid to try it. It has an influence in sauces, vegetables, and healthy combinations that are so pleasing to the palate. It qualifies, of course, as Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cooking. As an aside it is a comfortable restaurant with helpful and nice servers."

  • "Aya Sofia remains refreshing and tasteful - having visit Istanbul a few months ago, the menu and smells remind of Turkey. The compliments of herbs, spice, fresh vegetables and seasoned meats leave one both satiated and desiring another visit - to taste again. Not big and not small, the space allows for a large group or side booth for intimacy. May this fine dine continue. - Manoli"
