Estiatorio AXIOS is Denver’s newest modern Greek Restaurant located on Tennyson Street in the Denver Highlands, only ten minutes from downtown. AXIOS offers an array of traditional Greek favorites from our family's recipes going back to the Greek Island of Chios. We also offer more progressive Mediterranean dishes, which we have created with strong Greek influences. In addition to the classic meat dishes, we offer many vegetarian and gluten-free options. Estiatorio AXIOS offers a full bar and an extensive wine list focusing strongly on Greek and Italian wines. Happy hour is offered Monday through Friday from 5-6 p.m. where mezze (small plates) are offered at happy hour prices along with discounted drink specials.   • "I rarely eat out because I am conscious about avoiding GMO foods. Axios offered organic vegetarian choices that were incredible. The service was outstanding, relaxed and attentive (not too attentive to our leisure dinner - we were there with friends for four hours). I will visit them again and recommend them to all my friends.   • "We started with spanakopita (we figured that was a safe choice for a place we'd never been). Mistake. It was terrible. Both of us were worried that our entrees would be as bad, but were pleasantly surprised. My partner's grouper was excellent, he tells me (I don't do fish), and my chicken mavrodaphne was wonderful. The wine was nice, as was the tea afterward, and my partner enjoyed the baklava very much."

  • "We loved everything about this place. We've been looking for a decent Greek place in Denver, and this is Certainly the best one we've found. Food was awesome, wait staff very attentive and fun. The atmosphere was really enjoyable, very eclectic patrons, and decor not Greek kitsch, but kinda cool Modern trend. Very relaxing and engaging. To top it off, there was a delay in getting our order, but the management preempted a complaint by Proactively apologizing, telling us THEIR mistake, and then buying us a round of drinks. That's awesome customer service in my book, when a problem arises, don't mince around, address it and Take care of the customer. Their ability to do that so sincerely really helped earn kudos from us. Highly recommended!"

  • "A very nice little restaurant with great service and amazingly tasty greek food at a reasonable price. We had the Spanakopita for an appetizer, small but crip and delicious. I tried the Arni Psito, slow braised lamb ribs and my wife had the Chicken Mavrodaphne, a pan seared chicken breast in a sweet wine sauce. Both dishes were outstanding in flavor and tenderness. We had our meals paired with Greek wine selected by our server, absolutely perfect compliment to the dinner. We finished by spitting a Baklava, so good we should have ordered two! To finish everything in a big Greek fashion I decided to give Ouzo a try...that was very different, I highly recommend it with ice and water on the side and add till it tastes good/better."

  • "6 of us enjoyed 2 appetizers, Spanakopita, crispy & delicious & the Dolmades were tasty. The waitress provided samples of wines we were curious about before ordering a glass, a very nice touch. Entrees were the lamb shoulder special, which melted in your mouth, the Arnipsisto, braised lamb ribs, a chicken dish w/sauteed spinach & Brizole, a huge moist & tender pork chop. There was not a drop of food left on anyone's plate.....and then we ordered desserts! The Baklava is a generous serving with whipped cream & drizzled with honey, the Torta Kataifi is a wedge of a ricotta cake which seemed a little bland, the Little Man Ice Cream is delicious! We are always delighted to dine at Axios!! We wish we lived closer to visit more often!"

  • "My husband and I went for a belated Valentine's dinner and it was a fantastic experience! The wait staff was very friendly and took a lot of time helping us through our meal decisions. We had a flambé appetizer that was amazing and the dinners were so interesting and delicious. We were having a date night and the mood and lighting was very romantic but it was also nice to see kid friendly options on the menu and the atmosphere and music was lively so kids fit in too. We will definitely be back! Thank you Axios!"

  • "I really enjoy eating at Axios, The service & food are spectacular & it sits in a great neighborhood!! The server was incredibly knowledgeable on each dish's taste & ingredients as well as was able to pair each dish well with different wines they had to offer. The Dolmatas were some of the best I have had, & served warm apposed to cold like most places offer them. Thte Lamb was incredibly tender & full of flavor. My dates meal was so good I ate half of her meal even tho I was already stuffed from mine.. The Baklava is amazing, so don't leave without trying it!!"

I asked for it without the onions and it came with onions anyway. My dining companions had chicken and lamb and reported they were excellent. The suggested wines were excellent."

  • "The food was magnificent and the service superb. This was my 1st foray into "high-end" Greek food. I started with the Saganaki, which is sheep's milk cheese flambéed in Ouzo. The flaming dish was delivered with a boisterous “Opa” and garnered the attention of our neighboring dinners. The Chicken Mavrodaphne was my entrée of choice. The chicken was so moist, I kept checking to make sure it was cooked thoroughly. My delight was such that even my vegetarian hubby couldn’t help trying a bite. I ordered the Almond Cake for dessert but after sneaking a bite of my husband’s Baklava, I would strongly suggest the traditional Greek sweet. The wine pairing offered with the restaurant week menu is well worth the $20."

  • "Went during restaurant week. I had the saganaki as an app which was on par with other times I have had that dish. The real prize was the braised lamb rib entrée. The meat easily came off the bone, but retained a thin layer of crispness on the exterior. Seasoned with confidence but did not overdo it. The lamb was complemented by sautéed onion and leaks over a base of mashed potatoes. I was not expecting a dish so filling and well proportioned. The ambiance is very nice as well. On Tynesson street, the exterior has a mid-century quality to it that fits in well to the streetscape. On the inside, soft light and a warm palatte of materials in an open - straight forward dining room create a comfortable and relaxed vibe."

  • "I wanted to try this restaurant during restaurant week because i love very good classic Greek food. The food is a step above the standard gyro greek it was not a classic restaurant. Everyone is impressed by the flaming cheese or they have not tried real greek food. I had the fish dish, which the fish was good. It came with a side of orzo which was bland and insipid. my companion had the lamb ribs. It was an ok cut of meat, with a garlic mash potato. Nothing was awe inspiring or unforgettable. We waited an extraordinary long time for dessert. The waiter seemed to forget about us except at check time. So what do I say? It was not terrible, but not worthy another visit."

  • "Tried Axios for 2014 Restaurant week with a group of six. Each dish was well-received. Truly innovative preparations of classic dishes. However they weren't up to being that busy. They ran out of an appetizer, but the waiter didn't know that until half an hour after he took our order. Drinks took a very long time to reach us, particularly the first round."

  • "The hubs and I checked out Axios for the first time during restaurant week. Every staff member we encountered was warm and kind. The food was authentic and vibrant. The noise level was a little high but our small table somehow managed to make us feel segregated and intimate. We skipped the wine this time but I checked out the list and there were some unique choices, many Greek of course. I heard a server and another gentleman (host/manager/Somme?) discussing wine choices with other tables and they sounded very knowledgeable. I thoroughly enjoyable meal with outstanding attentiveness from the staff!"

  • "The food was outstanding as was the service. We booked a Valentine's day dinner and I had flowers sent to the resturant for our table. Our food was fresh, delicious and our waitress was attentive as well as informative. I would recommend this resturant and we will come back again there was so much on the menu we wanted to try another time. Only downside for me was the parking is neighborhood parking, this caused me to park several blocks away on the street, the lot across the street was full. Great neighborhood , just busy with other resturant goers."

  • "We have been to Axios twice now and have not been disappointed. The food is wonderful and wait staff are kind and accommodating. The server gave recommendations for items he preferred and when our daughter did not like her noodle dish (red sauce and meatballs) he brought her buttered noodles no questions asked and offered to take the other entree back with no charge. The food is authentic and delicious. It's worth the money and making reservations means no wait! It gets packed pretty quickly!"

  • "We've patronized Axios since it opened. The food is always creative and flavorful. Unlike many ethnic-based restaurants, Axios does do specials and the main menu has evolved over time. As a result, we haven't gotten bored with the menu. This visit I had the grouper with red lentils special and thoroughly enjoyed the blend of flavors. My husband had the barbequed lamb ribs over garlic and feta mashed potatoes. He also enjoyed his meal, especially the barbeque sauce although the feta flavor in the potatoes was not pronounced enough for his taste."

  • "I've been to this restaurant twice now. The first time was so good, it warranted a second brunch visit. The menu is exceptional. We started with the sauteed kalamari and it was phenomenal. Just the right amount of seasoning and cooked to perfection. NOT CHEWY!! For my entree I stuck with the traditional Gyro which was delicious and safe, but my friend got the Yemistes and I couldn't stop eating off of her plate. It was a wonderful suggestion from the very knowledgeable and friendly server. The wine suggestions paired perfectly with our meals. After such a delightful meal, we had to get dessert. We ordered the Olive Oil Cake and the Baklava. The cake was good, but the Baklava was mind blowing! This is not your typical Baklava! We'll be back."

  • "Went on a first date to Axios and was a bit nervous having not eaten there before. A couple of reviews caught my eye - written by New Yorkers who stated it was the "best Greek food they had eaten outside of New York". Our experience was spot on with those from "New Yawk"! The wine list is interesting with selections exclusively from Italy and Greece. The wine we chose was truly exquisite and from the "middle of the list". The food that followed was nothing short of delectable. The dolmades were beautifully hand rolled and huge and were the tastiest I have ever eaten. The meat dishes we ordered (one chicken, one pork) were full of diverse flavors. I had to try the baklava and was SO glad - not too sweet. Cannot wait to return!"

  • "I've been here a couple of times and have always been pleased with the atmosphere, service, and food--it's Mediterranean/Greek style but of a higher quality and with more innovation than Pete's or Zorba's. This time, I went to Axios for brunch with a crew of old friends, and the only thing I found lacking was that it took close to 45 minutes for our food to arrive and our server never checked in to apologize or tell us what was going on. There were 6 of us, which is not that big of a group. and the restaurant wasn't at all busy. Our food was still delicious when it came, and everyone left the restaurant happy, but it's a good thing no one was on a tight schedule."
