Diner Reviews
  • "Took a special client our for an "award" dinner, group of 4. Everyone enjoyed the experience! Beverages, vino, and entree's were good, nice presentations. The server took good care of us."

  • "When it comes to homemade pasta and wild game, Arcodoro knows what they are doing. The Parpadelle with rabbit was a very satisfying dish. Rustic with a creamy mushroom sauce. The halibut special that my husband ordered was not as successful. It was really bland. The service was very good. A very attentive staff. The ambiance was good, but nothing special."

  • "I've been dining here on and off for many years and each time I return I'm never disappointed...the service, food and atmosphere are always consistently outstanding..."

  • "Good food and service but wine markups are outdated. 4 times retail is not keeping up with restaurant trends but they can obviously get away with it. Go here if dinner wine markups of $50+ dollars for a $12 bottle of wine are okay with you or for lunch if you're not drinking."

  • "The bread before the meal was the highlight. We started by sharing the Polipo ai Ferri con Salsa di Peperoni (octopus) and you could definitely taste the grilled flavor and it was good. Then we ordered the Paella Sardinia Style (Serves 2). After having wonderful paella in Spain, I was excited to try Sardinian paella. It came out and was presented nicely but most bites contained a sand-like texture that crunched between our teeth and completely ruined the meal. I mentioned this to the waiter who told me it was the fregula (similar to couscous). I told him it was a sand texture and absolutely not caused by any couscous being crunchy. We left still hungry and trying to wash the texture out of our mouths."

  • "Arcodoro's has wonderful food, great service, and an elegant atmosphere in which one can enjoy a dinner conversation in a normal tone of voice! I thoroughly enjoy bringing my out-of-town (and in-town) business associates here because I know the experience will be fantastic!"

  • "We ate at this restaurant from the first time 4 months ago, after the suggestion from the Italian Consulate in Houston as the best Italian restaurant in the city ... and it was amazing. It felt like being back in Italy. This time it was not the same, it feel like a regular "chain" restaurant ... we found out that the Chef Giancarlo Ferrara left to open his own restaurant. Now I will need to track down this Chef and we are not going back to Arcodoro ... sorry ... not the same"

  • "We had a wonderful 3 course dinner and everything was not only very tasteful but looked also great. Very nice and quiet, great service. Maybe a little dark. I wood recommend it with no doubt to everybody who enjoys some special not ordinary food."

  • "The service is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The food is great. The pasta is perfectly cooked every time and the wood burning oven pizza is terrific. The fish is always fresh and they will prepare it in many different ways. For more formal dining choose the back room or enjoy a casual meal in front of the wood burning oven or on the great outdoor patio."

  • "Past experiences at Arcodoro (1 year ago), indicated that Arcodoro was on the downhill track. I am glad to say that our most recent dinner was a total delight and we have now added them back into our favorite restaurants list. The service was outstanding, our waiter was very knowledgable of the menu and wine selections, service was timed very well and the food was a real improvement over the last time. Notable was the grilled octopus appetizer - very tasty - and we really enjoyed the pork loin saba with risotto. Our favorite is the whole baked fish and look forward to having it the next time we are here. Which will be very soon as the weather will make dining on the patio perfect."

  • "Love dining outdoors at Arcodoro. The service is very friendly. The food is great. They cook the pasta the way Italians do (which you don't find in many Houston Italian restaurants). Always fresh fish."

  • "Excellent food. Fresh, hot (when appropriate), tasty, harmonious flavors and textures. Service was very good, though the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed even though they were hustling energetically. If we lived in Houston, we'd eat there as often as our budget would allows (fairly expensive)."

  • "Arcodoro is usually a go-to for special occasions for us. Usually everything is perfect. This was not the case this valentines day. The food and the restaurant were up to usual excellent standard but the service was disappointing. Our server may have been new or just distracted. But he just wasn't attentive."

  • "I took my wife to Arcodoro for a late Valentine's dinner. It was her first time there, but I had been there several times for work luncheons and dinners. It has a great atmosphere, with interesting artwork on the walls. We were welcomed warmly, and the host took my wife's drain from the bar to her table for her when we were seated. I thought this was a nice touch. The evening specials are displayed on a multi-tiered rack that the waiter brings around, so you can see exactly what they look like. The menu has such a wide variety of great choices that we actually had a hard time making a decision. The resulting meal was excellent. Dessert was the same. Highly recommended."

  • "I would not recommend to anyone. Bar tender could not open the bottle of wine. The portion size very very small. I not on a diet. The drink order at the table took sometime to arrive; had to ask a few times about th he drink order."

  • "The place is less than half full so we figure we are beating the rush. We get the Valentines menu we order and wait, and wait, and finally our salads arrive, bagged salad. You know that because of the little strips of carrot, no restaurant that makes fresh salad does that. By this time I have finished my cocktail and they take my glass and never ask if I want another. 25 minutes later out entrees arrive and the place got emptier by then so really no excuse. My NY strip was 1/2 medium rare, 1/2 medium, and 1/2 fat and not the good marbled kind. The sides consisted of more bagged salad, wilted from too much balsamic, and 3 halves of fingerling potatoes. The deserts were uninspired. 97 minutes and $140 and the feeling of being ignored."

  • "The young woman who handled our reservation/seating was excellent and made us feel welcome. The young man who brought our car around when we were leaving was also courteous, pleasant, and seemed happy that we had been there. Everything in between was mediocre and overpriced. Undistinguished food, undersized portions [and we are not big eaters], uninspired and uninspiring ambience, etc., etc. Sorry, Arcodaro, but if you want to be considered to be a top drawer restaurant, you need to make the effort to get there."

  • "Tired of the traditional Italian dishes you find in most Italian restaurants? Arcodoro has some unique pasta dishes you won't find elsewhere. I ate the papardelli with rabbit sauce which was excellent and had the homemade pasta al dente. I previously had a pasta dish with boar."

  • "So Arcodoro's is ok. The problem is that for the money you can find better. There wasn't anything special about the place, but nothing terrible. The service was a little slow and my chair oddly didn't seem to fit. I was too high and it made for an uncomfortable meal. Overall, my rating is just blah. With H Town having such great restaurants you can do better than this place."

  • "We did not find anything really special about our dining experience. The wine was very good, appetizers good but our entries just OK. Ribeye steak was not near as good as on previous visits and I could not recommend the pasta and crab dish. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and helpful but service was very slow. Our waiter indicated that they were busy but restaurant was not full."

  • "I was excited to eat at Arcodoro for the first time. I'd been looking for an Italian place to try and it received good reviews online. I went with a party of 8 to enjoy good food and good people. The two main reasons we didn't enjoy our experience there were the food and service. I ordered a medium rare steak that was so tough it was hard to chew, someone had the salmon which had no flavor, and the sea bass was sub-par. I will say that the pasta one friend ordered was delicious. As for the service, our waiter was rude. It is that plain and simple. He openly mocked our need of an explanation to the menu items and scoffed when asked for assistance. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I'm sorry to say I wouldn't recommend it."

  • "They stuck with what they had - no "special" menu....it worked well. We were early and waited a while to be acknowledged, but once we were, the service was friendly, unobtrusive and excellent! The food was delicious...salad was flavorful and had just a blush of dressing. Ossobuco was warm and tender, risotto smooth and creamy!"
