A word from Andina
Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Andina is our favorite restaurant in Portland. We were seated promptly for our 7:30 reservation on a Saturday. Started with cocktails - the Sacsayhuamans are great. We shared a tuna cebiche then ordered a bottle of Santa Rita Triple C (Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, and Carmenere) to go with our grilled lamb and filet mignon. They brought us a free cannoli dessert with passionfruit mousse plus two dessert drinks because it was our anniversary, which was a nice touch. Our waiter was there when we needed him but didn't hover. The owner personally visits every table, which is a great way to make guests feel special about dining at Andina. We will be back soon."

  • "You must try the Piquillo peppers stuffed with quinoa, mozzarella, cotija and Serrano ham. YUM!"

  • "Amazing food and our waitress was instrumental in guiding us to the right plates with out completely over consuming!"

  • "We recently enjoyed an outstanding lunch at Andina - every single aspect of the experience was superlative: the menu, the ambience, the service and of course, the food. We were visiting Portland for a couple of days from Vancouver BC and my husband and I agreed that Andina's alone would be justification for another trip. If you can't get a reservation for dinner, go for lunch."

  • "The food was very good, but the noise level was awful. There were only two of us but we had to shout to hear each other. Service was frantic. The waiter was running around. We both ordered a glass of wine, but the one glass didn't arrive until we had almost finished dinner despite asking the waiter several times."

  • "You know what to expect. Fantastic small plates, good service"

  • "Superb-quality food ranging from small plates including excellent salads to entrees. The restaurant is VERY popular thus extremely busy. Noise level was very high, aggravated by a large table of young adults adjacent to ours who seemed intoxicated and were quite "wild". They would ideally been in a private room. Our table for 2 was in somewhat close quarters. I think dining with 4 would be preferable, and I think they have a basement section which may be less chaotic. I would definitely recommend Andina. Outstanding cuisine."

  • "I'm sad that I'll never again have the spicy cocktail with passionfruit -- every sip put a smile on my face. And who knew a plate of mushrooms, onions and tomatoes could be so delicious? Great for both carnivores and vegetarians."

  • "Our meal consisted of 7 different "tapas" that were selected with the help of our waitress. Each one was wonderful and it was great that everyone got to have a favorite but also taste other options. The food was great, our waitress delightful, service attentive but not obtrusive. I'd highly recommend Andina and look forward to our next visit."

  • "Food is so good here...highly complex combination of flavors and textures. Configuration of restaurant, however, reminds me of discount clothing store with as many racks crammed in as possible. It's just too crowded."

  • "Food is incredible. Dining area is cramped. You will get bumped by servers. Very noisy & lively."

  • "If I'm one of the girls from the office, and I like to gather with my co-workers and drink too much and take pictures of my food and the cute waiter - then I'll love this place. If I don't care about the food which is OK , - but I've been hearing how great place this place is from all of the nice folks I meat at Matador on 23rd - Then this place is for me even though we counted three guys with pony tails and twice as many more wearing way too much bronzing gel. But - I'm not the above mentioned character. I'm just some dude that lived is Pisca for three years building bridges. I was craving some Peruvian snacks and not being from Portland - I asked around. Ended up here. A bit pricey, a bit boring. The end."

  • "The food was on point and creative, the service was attentive, and the ambience was very warm and vibrant. The great thought that went into creating the dish concepts was very obvious as the textural contrasts, the colours, and the flavour combinations were all beautifully melded into each dish. The desserts were also fantastic- I like that they rotate their creme brûlée flavours. It was a little loud, but it did not detract from the experience at all and was nice because you could enjoy a wonderful meal, but not have to speak in hushed voices while dining. Thank you Andina for a great night!"

  • "A co-worker and I were in town for a conference, and decided to treat ourselves on our last night in town. The restaurant was busy, but not so loud we couldn't have a conversation. We shared small portions of 6 different dishes, and each one was delicious. I especially loved the empanadas, quinoa stuffed peppers and grilled octopus. I will definitely go back to try more dishes the next time I'm in Portland!"

  • "I have read great reviews on this Peruvian restaurant on Yelp and Tripadvisor and had a great expectation for my dinner on 7/14/14. The service and atmosphere are both okay, but the food - was shockingly bad: Bread - served stale and cold Bread dipping sauce - tasted like store-bought dressings Mussels - salsa on top didn't go with mussels at all Hongos Saltados - traditional wild mushroom dish that tasted like chinese take-out food Scallops - three overcooked scallops on top of tasteless mashed potato If you want any recent food, this restaurant will fail you. I will not return to this restaurant."

  • "This restaurant lived up to the promise of its menu. Enormous choice, from small plates to mains, each dish had unusual flavors and mixes, beautifully presented, and all delicious. Being Peruvian, spice permeates many items but there's still plenty to choose for those who don't like much spice on their palate. Cocktails were fabulous. Very enjoyable for a special night out."

  • "Restaurant was open but not too loud and still felt intimate. The ability to get small plates in several sizes or main dishes gave lots of possibilities for ordering. Lamb shanks were awesome and the quinoa salad very good. wait staff was timely helpful and assisted which wine selection which was excellent. Overall good dining experience"

  • "Andina can't be matched in terms of their food in Portland. This means that it's often quite busy and noisy, but it's well worth it. All of their food is great. Get a dessert too if you want to be truly moved."

  • "We had booked on Open Table and ended up getting there a bit early. They were very accommodating and gave us a great table. If you want a very loud, trendy and lively atmosphere, this is the place! Looking for a quiet table and romantic conversation, not so much... We did tapas and all of the dishes were fresh and well prepared and presented. The wait staff were outstanding, and very knowledgeable on ALL the dishes and wines. Don't miss the creme brulee dessert sampler. Sublime!"

  • "We anticipated a superior dining experience, but we were blown away by Andina! Food, service and ambience were superb. Tapas and entrees we tried were all fabulous! We will be recommending it to all our friends when they visit Portland. When the owner came by to check on our meal, we told her we wished she had a restaurant in LA, our home town!"

  • "I have heard many great things about Andina over the few years. Unfortunately, the restaurant is so loud, that I could not hear my dining partner across the table and neither of us could hear the server explaining the specials. The food was good, but I would not hurry back."

  • "Brought friends from Vancouver, BC who are world travelers and food aficionados. They were so impressed and it became of their memorable experiences! We'll return next time they come to town. Can't say enough about the personal service, the excellent quality and variety of the food, and the lovely way the owner comes and talks to all the guests, and makes sure your questions are answered. She is a gem!"

  • "the appetizers were great. we had the chorizo, chicken kebabs, asparagus, and avocados stuffed with crab. the entrees are small and not great for sharing. we had the chicken and the beef tenders. stick with the appetizers, they are better."

  • "Went there several years ago and loved it - just returned with our nephew and his fiancee - hoping it was going to be a good as we remembered. It was GREAT!! Every dish a gem. We ordered many small plates and shared. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us decide quantities, size of dishes to order"

  • "I had the QUESOS ARTESANOS CON MEMBRILLO (cheese plate), TABULE DE QUINUA (quinoa salad), CONCHAS DEL SEÑOR DE SIPÁN (scallops entree), MOUSSE DE VALLE Y SELVA (mousse dessert), and a virgin MOJITO (lime drink) along with the "sommelier's recommendation" red shown on the wine list. Everything was wonderfully flavorful and attractively presented. Our server Emily was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was glad that we made reservations through OpenTable earlier in the day, and that we arrived hungry! Our first table was kind of in the middle of everything and didn't feel intimate, but the hostess was happy to reseat us. It helped that I had excellent company to dine with, but truly this was a perfect meal to remember."
