  • "We have dined & Amuse many times over the past 8 years. This experience was honestly less than we had come to expect. The beet salad was very flat with the rice accoutrement. The scallops were wonderful but the au jus had nothing to absorb the flavor as they sat on Lima beans and hard cut vegetables. It didn't work. The game hen and kale was saturated with truffle oil. I love the flavor of truffle but when that is ALL you taste, it's disappointing."

  • "Four of us had a meal at Amuse recently. Every bite on every plate was excellent. We've dined in San Francisco, La, and Seattle, and this was I the equal of any restaurant there. Innovative combinations of locally available produce, delicious modern takes on French classics, and some flat out strangeness (chocolate ganache with beet sauce and olives) that still managed to be tasty."

The food was absolutely delicious - from the green garlic soup, asparagus salad to the rib eye steak, halibut with fresh peas and roasted game hen. Service was also just right - friendly and helpful. Will definitely return the next time we visit our child at SOU. Loved it!"

  • "Having dined here a fair number of times I have to say that it is without a doubt the best place to eat in Southern Oregon. The menu is constantly changing and neither myself or my wife have ever had a disappointing dish. The service is always impeccable too... I only wish I could dine here more often and their winter "three course Thursday" special really helps make that a reality. If you haven't dined here yet or were on the fence I would really recommend checking it out!"

Valentine Night Dinner 2014 was especially fine, with rose petals strewn all over the place, the lighting and ambiance the epitome of romance. Could not fault any aspect of the meal from the fondue to the best chocolate dessert we have ever had in our lives. The waiter was extraordinary and made our experience at Amuse perfect. We cannot wait to return."

  • "I enjoyed this restaurant last weekend with a friend and my boyfriend. The service was excellent. One odd thing was that the restaurant was not busy, and yet we were seated right next to another table of three. It seems that out of courtesy, we would have been seated away from the adjacent, and rather loud table. The mood is calm, lighting subdued, and is a nice choice for a romantic dinner. The menu is fine. I thought there could be a few more choices, but what we all ordered was excellent. I liked that the menu offered cheese, which I prefer to dessert. Very good first experience to this charming restaurant in the heart of Ashland."

  • "Amuse is the fave of the culinarily indiscriminate far left hipster wannabe looking more for a city vibe than a great meal. To be kind, I will say the owners are frugal. Do I really have to ask for bread? Yes. You won't get it otherwise. The food is beyond salty hiding a multitude of sins, i.e: grocery meat. If you have high blood pressure, beware! Portions are small, not to be French, but to save money. The staff is indifferent. Don't ask for a specific table. Once there, you won't get it. There's the gaseous aspect as well. 1st time I went, I thought it was me. 2nd time, I knew it was them. No thought (or cash) was given to the cheap chic decor, the space itself is cramped & the seating too small. Maybe I'm just not hip enough."

  • "Quiet, elegant, cozy, Amuse is a fine restaurant. The bread, served at the beginning of the meal with fleur-de-sel sprinkled butter, is as close as it gets to authentic and high quality French bread. As a main course, the scallops were perfectly prepared, gently cooked and with a lot of subtle flavors: they were served with sunchoke purée, baby beets, cipolinni (tiny onions), beech mushroom and a curry emulsion. The chocolate truffle cake was also a piece of art in itself, with pungent melting chocolate in the middle, contrasting with the delicate coffee ice cream accompanying it. Make sure your reservation is early in the evening for the Sunday supper as they had ran out of it by the time of our 7:30pm reservation."

  • "We are long-time fans of Amuse and always enjoy the experience of dining here. Now that we live in Ashland we have more opportunities to see and enjoy what Eric and staff put out. His kitchen has found a nice balance between offering dishes you want to come back for (like the Truffle Roasted Game Hen) and dishes that bring something unexpected to the table (like the Bouillabaisse at a recent Sunday Supper). Same goes for desserts. The airy, dreamy beignets are here to stay and at least one person in a given party should order this dessert and attempt to share it with the table. But don't miss out on the pastry chef's other strengths, namely, every other--new or seasonal--dessert on the menu."

  • "Gluten free and vegan friendly. Fresh. Local. The celery root soup (GF) was a great start, light and fresh, not too heavy. An asian pear salad with blue cheese from down the street. Porcini crusted wild halibut and mushroom sauce screamed of the quintessential french flavors. We finished with a spanish cheese plate with marcona almonds and candied fennel (unlike anything I ever had, I am still figuring out the recipe). We chose great Oregon wines that were well priced. The service was aware and adjusted as the evening progressed without a hitch. I would enjoy the same meal again and I am looking forward to future menus."

  • "A couple of weeks ago, when my visiting mother asked me to find a nice restaurant for the two of us, I (a somewhat new resident of Ashland) surveyed friends and co-workers for ideas. The names of three restaurants came up multiple times. I forwarded links to their menus to my mom and asked her to pick. She chose Amuse. And I have to say, after having my best-ever Ashland meal at Amuse, I don't know that my mom and I will ever try the other two. Amuse was mouth-wateringly delicious from the squash soup amuse brouche to the warm chocolate truffle cake dessert. Yummmmmmmmm!"
