A word from Aldo's
“One of the best Italian restaurants in America” / "The wine list at Aldo's is exemplary, easily one of the best on the east coast” / “This is clearly a labor of familial love, and it shows in every dish" -- John Mariani (of Esquire Magazine), 2012

Aldo’s is Baltimore’s most celebrated Italian restaurant. Aldo's features Chef/Owner Aldo Vitale's delicately balanced southern-influenced regional Italian cuisine, served in sumptuously appointed rooms steeped in classical Italian tradition.

The media rave about Aldo's, calling it "An Italian Masterpiece" (NY Times) and have recognized Aldo's for offering Maryland's "Best Private Dining" (The Baltimore Sun) and "Baltimore's Best Private Dining Rooms" (Baltimore Magazine). Private dining rooms include a belowground, climate-controlled Wine Cellar and a Medici-inspired Library. Visit the website at www.aldositaly.com for a virtual tour.

  • "Read about Aldo's and decided to go and see for myself. My wife and I were greeted warmly quickly seated in a beautiful room and served immediately. Everything on the menu looked wonderful. Wife had Escargot to die for and I had a very nice staple in Ceasar Salad. Dinner was Lobster Pasta and Veal Saltimbucca that was fantastic. All downed by a nice wine. Would recommend highly! Will be back soon to try other selections !"

  • "My husband & I had a lovely dinner at Aldo's in Little Italy while visiting from out of town. The neighborhood is a quaint mix of residences & Italian restaurants in the middle of the city. Aldo's sets itself apart from nearby restaurants with a quiet, unobtrusive exterior. Inside, an expert staff greeted us, took our coats, & showed us to our table. The waitstaff is friendly, knowledgeable, & professional. Ask to be seated in Robert's area. Our waiter gave us great suggestions - we had a wonderful meal of orecchiette with sausage & broccoli rabe, veal saltimbocca, sauteed mushrooms, a lovely bottle of wine, coffee & panna cotta for dessert. Everything was fantastic! Aldo's is not inexpensive, but is perfect for a special occasion!"

  • "Food and deserts were excellent. Only downside was that it took about an hour toget our 4 entrees but it was a Saturday night so that's to be expected."

  • "Our party of three enjoyed pasta and veal dishes, but the service was extremely slow and the prices were high. There was a piece of tin foil in my salad. The small room created a din and we had trouble conversing."

  • "My 6th visit to Aldo's. The Mediterranean Sea Bass was exceptional. Best Mozzarella I have eaten."

  • "Cost was 370.00 for 3 of us with a bottle of wine. Food was excellent, son had surf and turf special which he loved (58.00), husband had tournedos of beef (48.00) I had bolognese (28.00). All meals were excellent, not sure if they were worth the hefty price tag for the steaks. And tiramisu was frozen in spots...."

  • "The food was great and the best Italian food we have had in Baltimore. When we arrived, we decided to sit at the bar and have a drink. The bartender was clearly overwhelmed and it took a while to get our drInks. Some of the wait staff came up to the bar and you could tell they were frustrated. Once we were seated it took a while for a waiter to come by our table. From there are on out, the food and drinks took a considerable amount of time to come to our table. Seems as it was a Sat night, there would be adequate staffing plus it didn't really seem that crowded but this was not the case. Food was great but the service was substandard considering the amount of money we spent on dinner and drinks."

  • "Food was excellent. Great ambiance and service was very authentic. The only draw back was the wine we picked first was not in stock. We picked a second wine and that also was out of stock. Very disappointing as I love both of the first two we picked. Had to settle for a house pinot noir."

  • "My wife and I have dined at Aldo's many times over the past 15 years and they never fail to exceed expectations. Their staff is great. From the friendly and attractive hostess and bartender on Friday night to our Russian waiter, they could not have better people. You can tell they enjoy what they are doing and they do it very well. The food is always excellent. Both my wife and I had veal dishes and they were both incredible - 10 on a scale of 1-10.. Cannot say enough good things about Aldo's."

  • "I took a good friend to Aldo's for his 77th birthday because we had read such good reviews about it. The expereience froom start to finish was just delightful. The food was exquisite, and it was obvious so much care had gone into the preparation and presentation. I have already recommended the restaurant to several of my friends. My friend also told me it was the best birthday EVER! Thank you, Chef Aldo."

  • "Really a special occasion place. On different occasions I've had a number of different dishes here and every one has been excellentl Now I would order anything on the menu with full confidence."

  • "Wine list great but somewhat pricy. The food was amazing and one if the best on east coast. Definitely recommend. If romantic dinner ask for the Romeo and Juliet table."

  • "Aldo's was advertized as the best in Baltimore, if that is so I feel bad for anyone who lives in that town. The food was pedestrian and overpriced, the service was very poor and overall a dissapointment. The only thing worth noting is that the restaurant has an old school feel. My suggestions is that if you want to replicate the experience simply go to your closest Olive Garden and pay 10 times as much for food that will be just as good."

  • "What a wonderful evening we enjoyed at Aldo's. The service was impeccable, the food - some of the best Italian food I've enjoyed other than in Italy, and a wonderful selection of wine. My husband and I can't wait for another trip to Baltimore to enjoy an evening of superb dining at Aldo's."

The wait staff, food, service, ambience, private seating and overall experience will definitely bring us back over and over again! A true gem in Little Italy!!!"

  • "Rarely do you get everything on one of the busiest dining out nights of the year. Our food was excellent, the service was wonderful and they were able to pull it off in a very crowded setting. Nice job."

  • "Since moving from New Jersey to the Bel Air area, we have been very unhappy with the restaurants... really awful. Also's made us feel like we were in New Jersey or New York. Now we don't feel as lost "in the woods"."

  • "As usual, Aldo's sets the standards for fine dining on every level! We will return again and again, and of course we will also highly recommend Aldo's to everyone we know!"

  • "I have not been there in awhile. I should have know better than to go during "restaurant week" - maybe it was over crowded. We did not choose to use the restaurnt week menu. We were seated in the corridor - with wait staff swishing thru continuisouly at excessive speed. The noise level made conversation almost impossible. We shared an apetizer, each had salad and each had an entree. None of the it very special. Prehaps we shoud have used the restauant week menu. Coffee and no dessert. The best part of the meal was the wine."

  • "We went for dinner prior to going to a concert at the Hippodome, based on a recommendation from someone we met on a flight recently that resided in Baltimore. What a great find and was our flight mate right! Food is fabulous with a good selection, service attentive, prices moderate and ambience great. We live on the Eastern Shore, but will make it our place to dine when we are in Baltimore.."

  • "The best thing about Aldo's is the service and ambience, although service started to deteriorate as the restaurant got busier -- and it got very busy. Food was good, but not really spectacular, and very over-priced."

  • "We had dinner at Aldo's on February 15 to celebrate Valentine's Day. The restaurant was crowded as many people who had reservations for the 14th had rescheduled them for the 15th due to bad weather. The staff though handled the crowd maginificently. We only had a brief wait to be seated at our table, and David our server did a maginificient job. The pappardelle with wild boar ragu was exquisite."

  • "The food is wonderful and so was our waiter. The noise was a little loud and i was sitting further away from date than expected, however, it was a wonderful experience. The waiter was great, food was excellent, and the tiramisu is the best I've ever had. Overall, our dining experience was fantastic. Thank you!"

  • "A friend and I went to Aldo's for restaurant week and overall had a great experience. It was a very nice restaurant, definitely fancy, I felt a little underdressed in jeans and a sweater. The service was wonderful, our waiter was checking in frequently. The food was good, I had the eggplant parm for an appetizer, and that was my favorite dish. I had the flat iron steak for my entree, and my biggest complaint is that it was SUPER salty, to the point where I almost sent it back. The bread pudding was delicious, but too heavy after a large meal. My friend's panna cotta was perfect. We each had a $14 glass of wine, which I thought was absurd and way too expensive. All the entrees on the menu were expensive, so I am glad we did restaurant week."

  • "Dinner was wonderful and our server knew the perfect balance of being attentive but not too interruptive of a romantic dinner. The noise volume at times made it difficult to hear. The light and decor was warm. We'll be returning."

  • "We have read this is a nationally known Italian restaurant with an "impressive" wine list. It is at best Italian-American with an inaccurate wine list. Dined Sat., Feb 15, 2014. We have traveled in Italy about ten weeks over the course of 5 trips; not experts but have some experience. Carpaccio excellent, oysters not cut from shell; pastas excellent, "Italian" style beef tough and dry, fried potatoes cold and soggy. Main plates came before first plates were finished, sat cooling for 10 minutes. Understaffed, wine never poured. Mixed salad never served. No cheese board on menu. Crab cakes in February cannot have been local Bay crabs. Wines were all 2010 or 2011 vintages but listed as 2007, 2008. We had fun, but not enough."

  • "I was at one point asked, "Is everything as it should be?" This was the perfect question to solidify my perfect evening. I responded with, "everything is exquisite", because no other answer would have been accurate. The food, the lighting, the temperature, the staff, the decor, all of it was flawless. And the staff is knowledgeable about wine pairing. Just ask them for a recommendation if you're unsure."

  • "When it takes 25 min from the time we were greeted after being seated, to have water and a couple cocktails delivered to the table, that is unacceptable. In addition, being served dinner an hour and a half after being seated coupled with the fact that no one came back to ask if everything was ok, is equally unacceptable. I will never return to Aldo's, nor recommend it to anyone."

  • "Had a 9 pm reservation and were seated around 9:05. We had a drink at the bar before hand and the bartender brought my girlfriend a complimentary extra drink when we got to our table which was great. We ordered wine, appetizers, and entres all at the same time which our server rushed us to do. We didn't recieve our appetizers until OVER AN HOUR after we had ordered them and the entre's came right on top of them. The portions were small and way overpriced. It is definitely one of the more beautiful places you can eat in Baltimore. I was dissapointed because it didn't seem like they were prepared for Valentine's day. It was rough. $200 bill $100 experience maybe. Great wine selection though, very impressive. Might go back if its not a holiday"

  • "My husband and I went to Aldos for Valentines Day and sadly, we were woefully dissapointed. From the unsually long wait to be seated (reservation was for 9:30, we weren't seated until well after 10), appetizers were cold by the time we finally received them, waited well over an hour for our entree, which was mediocre and with scant portions. Our waiter, who was the best part of the evening, really tried to accomodate us as best as he could. Our dessert was on the house due the unusually long wait. We did not leave the restaurant until almost midnight. Needless to say, we won't be coming back."
