A word from Acorn
Located within the Source, a reclaimed 1880’s refinery turned new epicurean marketplace in Denver’s River North District, Acorn boasts Chef/Owner Steven Redzikowski’s eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Beverage Director/Owner Bryan Dayton’s ingredient-driven cocktails, and handpicked selection of artisan wines and beers.

Similar to its critically acclaimed sister restaurant in Boulder, OAK at fourteenth, Acorn’s culinary and inspirational foundation is its oak-fired oven and grill, which produce a seasonal, ever-changing menu of craveable, family-style small plates and entrées. Guests will also find a selection of favorite dishes from the menus at OAK.

Steven, Bryan and their team at Acorn are proud to be serving Denver, and look forward to welcoming you.

I wasn't sure what to expect when making a reservation. The neighborhood is still a bit gritty, but you forget about that as soon as you walk in from the parking lot. Lots of stainless steel makes the place bright and shiny and balances the brick and industrial materials used in the patio area. Beautifully designed space and the food didn't disappoint either. Lots of fresh ingredients and interesting combinations. My group of 3 was distracted and slow to order, but the servers were patient and friendly. I thought the prices were fairly reasonable as well. Great experience for my out of town guests and I'll certainly be back.

  • The best food in Denver. Period.

I've come to this restaurant twice, just to make sure the amazing experience I had the first time wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. I've got another reservation in three weeks. This visit we had ten different dishes, including dessert, and all were outstanding. We dine out a lot, in several cities, and I can say this is one of my top ten and the best Denver currently has to offer. Cocktails are also amazing. My only critique is that the fried pickles are WAY overpriced. Really, $1 per pickle slice? Great flavor, but that's just insulting, especially when you aren't offering bread.

Heard about restaurant via TV interview of the chef. And, well with seeking out. Small plates big enough to share but not too large that you were full before trying more. Wide range of fresh local ingredients were celebrated in each bite. Staff helped to guide us through selections of food and beverages. Will come back whenever in Denver.

Very unique setting. Food and service were superb. Primarily small plates with only a couple of entree choices. The three of us chose six small plates then one dessert. Every choice was well prepared and unusual. It was a lovely meal to celebrate our daughter's birthday.

I've eaten here several times now, and love the food, but don't recommend it for everyone. It would be a dining nightmare for my husband who like simple food, quantity over quality - so I find it best to go with friends! The combinations of flavors and sauces and ingredients are amazing. Unfortunately the selection of wines by the glass is very limited, there are only 2 reds and 2 whites, all from California. The selection of creative craft cocktails is very fun, though.

My daughter and I dined here and loved the interesting menu of small plates to share. We had an outstanding gnocchi with green vegetables in a silky parmesan sauce, Hamachi, a lamb shawarma which came with a small naan, a squash dish that was light and delicious and an eggplant with feta plate that was our least favorite. Everything was delicious, beautiful and creative. My only gripe is that there was baby cilantro in almost everything we ordered and it wasn't listed on the ingredients. I loathe cilantro as do many others. I'd suggest adding that cilantro is in a dish on the menu. I rated this highly because after picking off the cilantro, everything else was awesome! Our server was helpful and attentive. It's pricey but worth it.

Four of us were there on Saturday night and shared 8 dishes plus 1 dessert. I don't think you really need 3 dishes person. Every single dish we ordered was perfect! This is a great way to dine where you can share so many dishes and tastes. Only down side was their drinks were the smallest portions I have EVER been served. I had gin and friend had vodka, both really small amounts. I would not bother paying for those again. It happened the last time we were there and I totally forgot about. (Cho Lon gives a great amount!) Enjoy the food though because you won't be disappointed.

Voted best new restaurant by BOn Appetit we were so excited to visit. The place was quite empty when we got there and the staff seemed preoccupied with prep Our server was slow and had a chip on her shoulder. The food was tasty but my shrimp and grits came out warm having to wait for my husbands burger but it was really good so was the burger. We ordered butterscotch pudding and were disappointed with it. It's a really cool place, great setting and location We'll give it another try

I enjoy all aspects of this restaurant. The food, the ambiance and the experience. We enjoyed ordering several items to share among friends which was perfect as there were far too many favorites to choose.. The "lomi lomi" ahi tuna, carrot and ricotta ravioli, lamb "shawarma" and oak grilled pork belly are exquisitely presented and even more so delicious.

We read about this gem of a restaurant in a recent Bon Appetit article, where it was nominated as one of the Top 50 restaurants in America for 2014. So glad we did, because this was a very memorable meal. The setting is casual but don't let that fool you...these people know their food and every morsel exceeded our expectations. We had the pork belly & watermelon salad and the shrimp and grits and splurged on the butterscotch pudding for dessert. We are still talking about this meal. If we were locals, we would be there weekly. Sadly, we live far away and were in town on a visit. Don't miss this one if you get the opportunity!

I took my Aunt to Acorn for her birthday lunch. She is 70+ and thought it was a very cool spot! We both ordered the same thing, which was unfortunate - I would like to try something other than a salad next time. It was quite good - many interesting flavors - but it was a pretty small portion. Regardless - I would go back!

We loved the food, but the service was lacking. We waited more than 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Also, we asked for bread, which we had to request twice before receiving it. We also waited more than 20 minutes for the bread. The server put in the orders, but it took a long time for other staff to bring the items.

We where excited to come for lunch on Labor Day. Though service was well timed, our server was a bit robotic and seemed to lack knowledge about the menu. We started with the fried pickles. They where very good but for five dollars I'd like more than five pickles. My hubby had the posole that lacked any hint of spice. I had the grill cheese with gazpacho that sort of worked together but lacked some much needed sweetness and I didn't end up liking it. With so much lacking, we won't be back.

Had dinner last night at Acorn. Great meal! Started with craft cocktails, which were fun and tasty. The food was really special. Our favorites were the kale salad, ravioli and gnocchi. The shrimp and grit were good but not great and the bacon wrapped pork was just ok but the other dishes will definitely bring us back! I want to add to that the host really went out of his way to accommodate us. We had a reservation at 8:00 for two and needed to change it to a party of three and he worked magic to get us in.

Waited 45 minutes past my res which I had made 5 weeks in advance. Brought over some "oh I'm sorry for the inconvenience" shots for the table which were sugar loaded nonsense and a bit insulting for a table of 50 plus year old foodies. Food was okay .. Some very good dishes but overall a bit over complicated and trying too hard to marry too many elements. Shawarma was wet and had way too many ingredients. Kale salad was excellent. Meatballs with Buratta was very nice but redundant. My fav was the chicarrones with ham and beautiful tomatoes tepenade of sorts. Mussels were good but dry. Shrimp and grits were marginal. Ahi was bland. Overall I prefer sister restaurant Oak in Fourteeth

The service was outstanding and we ordered four of the small plates for each of us to share as recommended by our server, Nathan. It was a perfect amount of food for two people. The lamb and the gnocchi were fantastic! I wish the wine list had more by-the-glass options, as my lady prefers white and I generally drink red. We ended up with a nice bottle of white and I got a glass of red (their only red glass option) that I didn't quite love. We finished off with the peaches and creme and a nice moscato, super awesome!

I had high expectations (many friends have eaten at the Acorn and have said great things) but overall I found the experience to be average with a few high points (meatballs, kale salad, bruschetta) but many low points (service was polite but not enthusiastic, our seating was late despite being there early, meatballs were delicious but small with an abundance of polenta, kitchen ran out of pork leaving minimal options for protein plates, risotto had strong cheese flavor and was heavy). I requested to order a small plate when seated (we were hungry, after waiting) but our server told us he prefers we wait to order everything at once. I'll give this restaurant another try but wasn't wowed enough to run back.

Food wa s delicious and served in a timely manner. Service was attentive yet non intrusive. When the waiter noticed that I hadn't drunk my ice tea, he insisted that they comp it since I didn't enjoy the taste. I would've never asked for that; it wasn't bad tea , just not to my taste. Both lunches were great. Lively lunch crowd of mostly workers from Downton and LoDo. My only complaint was the intrusiveness of the music and as usual lately, the loudness of the room inside. Can't find a place to dine with friends and still be able to talk to them without screaming at the top of one's lungs! Patio much quieter but again, speakers placed right next to the first table.. Maybe some chairs on the patio? The stools are cool but not comfy.

Not sure what "eclectic" food is, we thought we'd try Acorn based on the positive reviews. Our table of four had plenty of food - some items have serving sizes for 2-3, a few others for 3-4. We had two types of salads (kale with candies almonds - great, and a beet mixture salad that was a nice pairing). Next a meatball small plate, and a ravioli plate - also good. For the main course we chose a braised pork dish that was flavorful and moist. Dessert - fudge. Will definitely go back to Acorn.
