A word from Acorn
Located within the Source, a reclaimed 1880’s refinery turned new epicurean marketplace in Denver’s River North District, Acorn boasts Chef/Owner Steven Redzikowski’s eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Beverage Director/Owner Bryan Dayton’s ingredient-driven cocktails, and handpicked selection of artisan wines and beers.

Similar to its critically acclaimed sister restaurant in Boulder, OAK at fourteenth, Acorn’s culinary and inspirational foundation is its oak-fired oven and grill, which produce a seasonal, ever-changing menu of craveable, family-style small plates and entrées. Guests will also find a selection of favorite dishes from the menus at OAK.

Steven, Bryan and their team at Acorn are proud to be serving Denver, and look forward to welcoming you.

Diner Reviews
  • "This whole location (butcher, wine and cheese shop, bakery, coffee shop etc a great idea for this neighborhood, Really nice way to repurpose a building and an area."

  • "The food was delicious. Plates came out at a nice pace. Seemed quick but not rushed."

  • "The food was perfection...The summer squash dish was the first one delivered, and I cannot even describe how incredible it was. The kale salad is always good, shrimp and grits (golly so good). Only slight disappointment was the risotto, but still above any other risotto I have had recently in Denver."

  • "Had a fantastic First Anniversary dinner here this past weekend with my wife and folks. The service was absolutely excellent, both helping us to navigate food allergies as well as paying attention to every last detail. We would definitely recommend this to people."

  • "Excellent service, excellent food. They gave us a great table inside, but next to the open door. We were visiting old friends so enjoyed not feeling rushed. The host greeted me by name every time I passed by which made me feel welcomed."

  • "Acorn was truly a fantastic experience. The food was amazing with flavors that were surprising and the best part is that things are meant to share so you can taste lots of things. The service was impeccable. Attentive, but not overbearing and the knowledge of the servers was great considering it was our first time there. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Food was very interesting and lovely to look at and eat. Red wine list too many cab based which really did not go with menu. Rhone wines would better suit menu."

  • "Delicious meal. Wish the fried chicken was on the dinner menu. The butterscotch pudding was amazing."

  • "Met friends for dinner at Acorn. We shared 8 small plates (all different and all delicious) between 4 people. Just enough food so that we could share a dessert. Energetic atmosphere - but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy our conversation. We'll be back!"

  • "We really loved this place. Went for a date night. The food was excellent- the hamachi crudo and the gnocchi in Parmesan broth really stood out. Also the caramel izzard brioche dessert was really wonderful! Everything was good, and there were many creative combinations that worked well. We really enjoyed the small plates style- it will be fun to go back with more people to try more dishes. It's not often that you find a place where every dish is so well thought through. My only wishes are that there were more oak grilled items on the small plates menu and that they could bring the noise level down a bit."

  • "My first time at The Space and eating at Acorn. Can not wait to return - especially while the weather is nice. Was I really still in Denver?? There few buildings like this in Denver - out warehouse space. The architects did a great job. The food at Acorn was amazing!!! Find yourself there ASAP. Parking lot to the west is available. You do not need to squeeze in right in front. Plan to shop for other foods and allow extra time."

  • "First time at the restaurant. What a wonderful evening. The food was fantastic we did six small plates for a party of 3. The table setting being close to outside, but not actually outside was just perfect. I need to tell you however that the greatest thing were all the people. The host, bartender, and waiter all had such a great sense of humor, including other members of the staff that server. To be honest they are what made the evening perfect!"

  • "Great combo of food, wine and funky/trendy urban setting. Consistently one of the top go to restaurants on my list if there is an opening. Small plate approach makes it a great place to experience the wide ranging talent of the chefs. Outstanding."

  • "Acorn has definitely has established a strong reputation as they were booked on a Monday post July 4th holiday, that speaks for itself. Really superior service, and knowledgable staff. Cocktails were spot on and really refined. Loved the menu, but thought a few things were home runs and a few dishes were lacking just a bit of delicate touch from truly being top notch. Egg & Bacon salad, Summer Squash Blossoms, Squid Ink Tagliarini were all intricate and dynamite dishes. The meatballs, short ribs, and shimp & grits were all delicious, but just lacked a bit of restraint to make them truly memorable. Overall, this is not a complain just an honest review by a food lover. Will and would certainly go back to try new things next time."

  • "The dishes were distinct, delicious, unique but small, even though they are intended to be shared. When dining early, they have trouble controlling the Western sun through the large windows, making it uncomfortable for those facing that way."

  • "While visiting from Los Angeles, we tried Acorn on a recent trip to Denver. Acorn was a little hard to find, hidden inside a trendy, renovated old brick building in an industrial area. (The sign outside says "The Source".) The food at Acorn was deliciously inventive with beautiful presentation and the service was pleasantly attentive without hovering. On our first visit we were seated outdoors on the patio and enjoyed a lovely sunset while trying numerous small plates shared "family style". We made a second visit before leaving town, tried some different dishes, and we were just as delighted the second time around. This was the best restaurant we've tried in a long time."

  • "Service, atmosphere and food preparation and presentation all demonstrated careful attentiveness. Delicious bites casually enjoyed in a fun environment. The only disappointment of the evening was that I noted in my Open Table reservation that we were celebrating my daughters work promotion and none of the staff at Acorn acknowledged the special occasion."

  • "If I had never been to Oak at Fourteenth, I wouldn't even have known about Acorn. But certainly glad I've now been to both. Cocktails to die for, anything you order is outstanding and the portions are perfect sizes. The location at The Source is an exciting addition to the Denver foodie scene with all its fun shops in a very industrial setting. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "I was taken here by my best friend for my Birthday & food, service & ambiance were all amazing! Moving from NYC I am a bit of a foodie and returned that following with with my husband! Fried pickles are great, meatball dish is fantastic along with any of the salads and of course the chicken was better than a Thanksgiving dinner! One of my new FAVORITE restaurants. Well Done."

  • "We recently took one of our friends to dinner here for her b-day. We had such a great time. We opted to go with shared plates. When dishes first started arriving we thought we would never get full. But...wow! We were so stuffed when we left. We probably could have done about 2 dishes less. But, they were just all so good. And the service was awesome! This will now always be on the top of my list. My only complaint is with the shared plates sometimes the numbers were off. An example: meatballs, there were 4 of us and only 3 meatballs. They should make adjustments for that type of plate."

  • "At my brother's recommendation, friends and I traveled 75 miles for dinner at Acorn. We were not at all disappointed. The food was amazing. I know the menu will change, but if the kale and apple salad in on it - go for it! Service great. We enjoyed looking around the building at some of the other shops as well. We will go back!"

  • "Acorn turns out incredible food. My husband and I shared a few dishes there, each one better than the next. The tomato braised meatballs with burrrata on top of grits was so delicious, we are still talking about it. This was definitely a highlight meal on our vacation. The space is cool as well. Very funky and industrial."

  • "Food was delicious and service was great. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and what could be made gluten free. The kale salad and short ribs were fantastic. We joked about how we wanted to lick the short ribs plate, the sauce was that great. It was a wonderful first experience and we'll be back soon."

  • "four of us came here for dinner, and it blew our minds. love the small plates to share concept, between the four of us each dish was a perfect portion. the crispy egg applewood bacon salad was unbelievable! we had an amazing experience here, the cocktails were as amazing as the food. this place is a real treat and we savored each bite and each sip. i will forever remember this experience and couldn't recommend it enough ."

  • "Small plates to share were wonderful. There was only one out of eight that we ordered that we did not think was up to the caliber of the others-that was the Lamb Shawarma."

  • "Searched for "best new restaurants in denver" and discovered Acorn. Great vibe. Every plate was unique and exploded with flavor and fresh ingredients. Clearly an amazingly creative chef who takes pride in their work."

  • "We take guests to Acorn because the food is creative and exceptional. Four of us ordered 8 tasting dishes which were much larger than expected. The Kale and Apple salad was a favorite followed closely by the Grits and Shrimp. Grilled eggplant and Chicken liver pate were also very very good. Oak grilled short ribs were the least favorite--very small portion and not that exciting to taste. Although we felt satisfied we decided to share a dessert: CARAMELIZED BRIOCHE was sensational. In all another good experience with Acorn."

  • "Fantastic - loved the shrimp & grits the most and the rib eye was delicious. Desserts could be better and the butterscotch pudding wasn't good at all. Service was terrific and I loved the entire vibe/atmosphere/ambiance."

  • "I picked this restaurant from the buzz I heard from other people, the location (was meeting someone) and the price as depicted by Yelp ($$). I was a little disappointed when I realized it was a tapas style restaurant and my friend did not have the budget to spend $15 a piece on four shared small plates between two people. I think just looking on Yelp or Open Table that the price depicted was a bit deceiving without examining the menu before hand. That being said the food and the service were both excellent, the beer and wine list were a little small and expensive. $11 for a glass of Pinot Noir and most beers being 22+ oz pours and $20+."

  • "Great food and service. The specialty drinks were delicious. We had the rib-eye and it was cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely return."

  • "Everything we had was delicious, but as always, the Shrimp & Grits and the Butterscotch Pudding were fabulous! The Eggplant dish was outstanding also."

  • "The food was delicious and creative. The warehouse space was relaxed, hip and festive. The service was professional. The weather was nice when we were there so they opened up one of the walls which was very pleasant. However there is a problem with glare from the sun on some of the tables. It was not an issue for us but some dinners asked to be moved. We prefer a lower sodium diet and the waitress was very helpful in guiding our food selection so that it was less salty. The chef Steven Redzikowski is a master! If you ever find yourself it Denver it’s worth checking out."

  • "Acorn is very different from its sister restaurant Oak in Boulder. Acorn emphasizes family dining with shared plated. Their definition of the number of plates per person is far more than an individual could comfortably enjoy. The menu was down scale, fried pickles very doughy in the aioli sauce. Redfish was not as flavorful as expected. Drinks are very pricey on the Denver scene with an average of $10-12 each. The four of us enjoyed $232 of food, and didn't feel like it was anything special. I had very much anticipated this dining experience, and found that the small and large plates left something to be desired. Glad we tried it, will only go back to Oak at 14th from here on out. The Source is a fascinating experience."

  • "The food is very interesting and delicious. But the drinks are the cheapest pours of anywhere I have ever been. Restaurants make money on the drinks, so why not pour a real drink. The bartender actually used a shot glass to measure the vodka! We spent over $200 and the fact that the drinks were so CHEAP, makes the experience much less enjoyable. We had the 38 oz. ribeye and it was great, but again the fact that the drinks were so stupidly small makes the experience one which we won't go back for. Too bad..."
