  • "We had great service once again at the 801 Chophouse. We decided to try the Prix-Fixe menu and found it to be decent. The prime rib was really good and tender, but the other options were lacking a little. The petite filet was a little tougher than a filet should be, but the quality of the flavor was good as usual. The salmon, although good was very lacking on the sides provided compared to the other options on the prix fixe. We did have a child with us, and they worked with us to get her a small portion of the macaroni and cheese, which was absolutely delicious. I look forward to returning to 801, but I will make sure I order from the regular menu from now on."

  • "The seafood was amazing. The crab was huge and the shrimp were wonderful. The steak was cooked perfects and very tender. The only complaint I have is that we had a table in the center of the room. The noise level was very loud. Next time I will be asking for a booth."

  • "While the Delmonico steak inside was the requested medium rare, the surface of the steak was charred beyond being able to see any grill marks. The notion that searing meat "locks in the juices" is an old myth. Searing meat gives color and flavor…. resting after cooking pulls the juices back in…charring meat not only gives the meat a bitter burnt flavor, it actually dries the meat out and mine was exactly that. An establishment that claims to be a superior "steak house" should know that. The wait staff was superb…very professional…and the ambience delightful. The side dishes were excellent as well.The steak, unfortunately, was quite disappointing."

  • "Have only been here a couple of times. This visit dissapointed in the wine list, the average price way too high for a bottle. Limited selection under $200.00. I am fairly experienced with wine and you do not need to spend $200 ++ to get a good bottle. Also, the food was not as I would expect. Was ok just not great. Price for a steak at $42.00 is higher than its two main competitiors and not as good. Side dishes just ok as well."

  • "We've eaten at quite a few of the "high end" steak houses in America. I'd rank 801 Chophouse in the top 25%. They're steaks are not as good as Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn, my benchmark. They are much better than Ruth's Chris and Morton's, the more popular chains. I'd put them on par with Met Grill (Seattle) and the Capital Grill (DC) for quality of steak but they cooked the steaks better here at 801. We found them on the higher end of the price scale, maybe a little too high. I say this because they're about the same price as Peter Lugar's in Brooklyn, which as I said was better, but combine that with the fact that they're in Omaha and I would have expected then to be about 5-10% less. That being said we'd still go back."

  • "My wife and I returned to the 801 for a private celebration of our son's 1st birthday (his first experience in fine dining). We opted for an early evening dinner, just to be on the safe side with a todler. The staff was, as usual, amazing! The food is always exceptional, but the staff always does everything possible to make the evening wonderful."

  • "The food was pretty good albeit crazy expensive. The menu is all a la carte so expect to spend $50+ on a cut of meat and $15 for a side (although they serve two). The service was so so. It was very clear that our server was focused on the table next to us because they were running up thier bill and he was hoping for a big tip. At the end it was so ridiculous that we had to just leave cash in the bill and walk away because it was clear that he was not coming back anytime soon. Again the food was good but not good enough to justify the prices. Once in a lifetime so won’t be going back"

  • "The food here is good---steak medallions, prime rib, grilled asparagus, salads---but not worth the price on the menu. Even with a $45-off coupon, it was an expensive meal for just "good" food. The atmosphere is great and reminiscent of an old chophouse, and the staff and service were fine. Save it for a special occasion splurge."

  • "We went here for our anniversary the only hiccup was when we requested our food to be taken home they forgot to put in the compote that my wife really liked for her pork chop, other than that a great place, nice atmosphere, but definitely a special occasion place for me. I could not afford to go here very often, for the 2 of us we spent over 170 dollars including the tip, but again very romantic and very delicious."

  • "The food was FANTASTIC & we enjoyed every bite- but it was pricey. Everything is a la carte, so expect to dole out at least $50 for a meat and one veg, another $12 for a small salad. For those prices, we would have enjoyed larger portions. It was our anniversary, so we opted for a higher-end restaurant since we were sans kids, but my husband left annoyed b/c his drink was almost always empty (we get better service at Red Robin & they make 1/4 of the tip), even though our waiter passed by and spotted it on multiple passes. Disappointing. The biggest downside, though, was parking- we had to park five blocks away and had to jog to make our reservation. Our bad for dining downtown during the CWS. Don't think we'll return :-("

It should had been mentioned that the lobster appetizer was market price. Overall great meal, but the appetizer left a nasty note on the palate."

  • "We were in town for the College World Series. The place was slammed and they said that they'd been that way for the past week. However, the staff was still very attentive and extremely polite and polished. Steaks (ribeyes) were great and the hashbrowns (which I'd never seen on a nice steakhouse menu before) we a great find! The only thing that detracted from the entire experience was the noise level of the restaurant. It is one big main open dining room, and it was full. The noise level made it difficult to talk to the person across the table."

  • "This lovely chophouse in the historic Paxton Hotel is everything you hope to find in a top-end steak house in a city known for prime steak. Comfortable, friendly, yet intimate and romantic if you wish. Food is outstanding, staff knows their stuff, always there when you need, yet not if you are simply enjoying. Perfectly prepared drinks at the bar, meat and sides. Never made it to dessert, yet still had a huge breakfast of leftovers next day. Have to love the train in the bar and art in the dining room, too. Starting with the lovely, efficient hostesses, throughout, this is not a restaurant which disappoints."

  • "My husband and I ate here for our anniversary and were not disappointed. Our anniversary fell on a Sunday, but many restaurants were closed, so we were a bit disappointed that it narrowed our choices - but that disappointment disappeared the moment we arrived to our final choice, 801 Chophouse. The service was amazing- our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive in a non-intrusive way. We had mentioned it was an anniversary in our OpenTable reservation, and 801 Chophouse had a "Happy Anniversary" card waiting for us at our table. The meal was definitely pricey- but that was to be expected...this is a "special occasion only" meal! With it being pricier, it was nice to see large portions - plenty of leftovers! Definitely recommend!"
